data security. Recently, Lee, Hwang and Li proposed a new public
key authentication scheme for cryptosystems with a trusty server.
However, in this paper, we will show that Lee-Hwang-Li\u27s key
authentication scheme is not secure, from the obtained public
information, any one can get the private key of the user. And
then, we propose an improved scheme. We conclude that our new key
authentication scheme not only resolves the problems appeared but
also is secure

Cryptanalysis of the Lee-Hwang Group-Oriented Undeniable Signature Schemes
Undeniable signature is an intriguing concept introduced by Chaum and van Antwerpen at Crypto'89. In 1999, Lee and Hwang presented two group-oriented undeniable signature schemes with a trusted center. Their schemes are natural generalizations of Chaum's zero-knowledge undeniable signature scheme proposed in 1990. However, we find that the Lee-Hwang schemes are insecure. In this paper, we demonstrate five attacks on three security flaws in their schemes: four of them are insider universal forgery, in which one dishonest member (maybe colluding with a verifier) can get a valid signature on any chosen massage, and another attack allows a dishonest member to prevent honest members from generating valid signatures but his cheating behavior is undetected. We also suggest heuristic improvements to overcome some of the problems involved in these attacks
The Importance of Proofs of Security for Key Establishment Protocols: Formal Analysis of Jan-Chen, Yang-Shen-Shieh, Kim-Huh-Hwang-Lee, Lin-Sun-Hwang, and Yeh-Sun Protocols
Despite the importance of proofs in assuring protocol implementers about the security properties of key establishment protocols, many protocol designers fail to provide any proof of security. Flaws detected long after the publication and/or implementation of protocols will erode the credibility of key establishment protocols. We revisit recent work of Choo, Boyd, Hitchcock, & Maitland (2004) where they utilize the Bellare, Pointcheval, & Rogaway (2000) computational complexity proof model in a machine specification and analysis (using an automated model checker -- SHVT) for provably-secure key establishment protocol analysis. We then examine several key establishment protocols without proofs of security, namely: protocols due to Jan & Chen (2004), Yang, Shen, & Shieh (1999), Kim, Huh, Hwang, & Lee (2004), Lin, Sun, & Hwang (2000), and Yeh & Sun (2002). Using these protcols as case studies, we demonstrate previously unpublished flaws in these protocols. We may speculate that such errors could have been found by protocol designers if proofs of security were to be constructed, and hope this work will encourage future protocol designers to provide proofs of security

The nomenclature of the lycophyte species Phlegmariurus mingcheensis Ching (Huperziaceae)
In 1982, Ren Chang Ching twice described the same lycophyte species under the names Lycopodium mingcheense (published in April; the original "minchegense" spelling being a correctable error) and Phlegmariurus mingcheensis Ching (published in May). Phlegmariurus mingcheensis cannot be taken as a combination based on Lycopodium mingcheense because in the original publication a different holotype was indicated and the name Lycopodium mingcheense was not mentioned. The correct names for this species in Huperzia, Lycopodium, and Phlegmariurus are Huperzia mingcheensis (Ching) Holub (basionym: Phlegmariurus mingcheensis), Lycopodium mingcheense Ching, and Phlegmariurus mingcheensis Ching, respectively. The recent lectotypification of the name Lycopodium mingcheense using P.S. Chiu 2069 (PE) was redundant since this specimen was clearly indicated as the holotype in Ching's original publication. The recent new name Phlegmariurus mingjoui X.C. Zhang is an illegitimate superfluous name

An improved Hwang-Lee-Tang remote user authentication scheme
In this paper, we present a secure and efficient remote authentication scheme by improving Hwang-Lee-Tang's scheme. The security of our scheme is based on the onewayness and collision-resistance properties of the hash functions being used. The proposed scheme is able to withstand all commonly known attacks against remote authentication schemes. In addition, the scheme does not store a password table on the server, provides mutual authentication between the user and the server, does not reveal user's password to the server, allows the user to freely choose a password of her choice, and allows the user to change her password by running a simple protocol with the server
