Compelled to control: conflicting visions of the future of cyberspace
This report looks at the desire among states for greater control over the digital domain. It considers the convergence of controlling desires among the major cyberpowers and examines some of the main dynamics of the Russian and Chinese positions. Their positions are examined relative to each other and to the Western consensus. The paper analyses the potential implications for the global internet and the impact that developing countries may have on the dialogue
Simon de Roxas Clemente y Rubio, London, to James Edward Smith
Has come to England partly to see the Linnaean collections but frustrated by the distance Smith lives from London; sends five specimens for Smith's opinion that he would have consulted about in person if it was possible. Requests a specimen of 'Hypnum myosuroides'. Leaving England in a month to visit Morocco, from where he will attempt to reach the interior of Africa with Domingo Badia [Ali Bey al-Abbasi (1766-1818), Spanish explorer]; author of a plan for finding new discoveries in Africa commissioned by Spanish government. [Antonio José] Cavanilles hoped Clemente would be able to visit Smith, desirous of some remark if this is agreeable.
Smith has annotated "the lichens were 'pollinarius', 'subfuseus' on walls, 'vinellus', 'cerinus' & 'saxicola'" and one near 'paellus' which could not be determined

"'Semejnoe sshchast'e' L'va Tolstogo v ital'janskom perevode Clemente Rebora"
The author analyzes Clemente Rebora’s Italian translation (1920) of the short novel "Semejnoe sčast’e" (Family Happiness) by Lev N. Tolstoy (1859); special attention is paid to the differences from the original text that signal the translator’s interpretive reading
Licenciado en MúsicaTesis de pregradoThis research project aims to propose an analysis of the cognitive processes of creation and interpretation of the chosen musical pieces of Master Clemente Diaz. There is wide attention regarding the structural knowledge of music (formal analysis) therefore, the idea of the project is not to assess the harmonic sense of a set of sounds, but to understand the process of the meaning of these particular sounds. With the analysis of the chosen musical pieces it is possible to visualize the creative process and the emotional component that each piece has, and how these components complement the interpret and its interpretive vision. This monographic work leaves the possibility open, both for the author or future readers, regarding the musical vision of the meaning of Clemente Diaz music
Divine Simplicity and the Theory of Action: Extrinsic Willing and Knowing Against the Modal Collapse Argument
The modal collapse argument states that the traditional doctrine of divine simplicity entails that God necessarily creates whatever he creates and also that all creatures necessarily perform whatever actions they perform. In response to these objections, many authors argue that God’s willing to create this precise world and God’s knowing everything about individual creatures are at least partially extrinsic or Cambridge properties (i.e., the truthmaker of the respective propositions is, in part, a fact about something contingent other than God). This paper argues for a general view of action, in which such properties can turn out to be at least partially extrinsic. Section 1 explains why responding to the modal collapse argument requires that part of the truthmaker relating God to contingent facts be extrinsic to God, and that it is only in this part that contingency lies. Section 2 argues that this can be generally so in certain class of causal relations, where the agent remains intrinsically the same no matter the precise effect produced. Section 3 shows that free volition is at some level one of those relations, and section 4 offers some brief remarks about the difficulties that still remain in the case of knowledge
Emory S. Bogardus. La distanza sociale
The volume deals with the social and historical reconstruction of the personal, environmental and cultural aspects that characterized the career path of the American sociologist Bogardus, author of the concept of social distance. The social factors that heavily invested the USA in the 19th century as lands of considerable migratory flows are analyzed. This movement can be further distinguished by referring to two migratory subperiods in which there was a succession of a so-called "first wave" up to 1880, and a "second wave" after 1880. These groups of immigrants settled consistently in the geographical area in the North (both East and West).
At the beginning of the twentieth century, a "third wave" followed, during which immigrants came mainly from Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, China and India and settled substantially on the west coast, particularly in the Californian region.
After a brief biographical note by the North American sociologist, the scientific interest of American sociology towards these profound changes, in particular of the Chicago School, will also be analyzed; the scientific debate and the main scholars who have contributed to the conceptualization first and then operationalization of the concept of social distance with the Social distance Scale and its relevance in the panorama of social sciences

Computerized systems employed for the analysis of cardiotocographic signals have become almost indispensable tools in fetal monitoring, for which evaluation of fetal heart rate signals plays a key role. Consequently to the diffusion of these systems, new software and complex signal processing methodologies are spreading and are gaining more and more interest. For testing the performances of new software and/or techniques, the availability of synthetic signals with a-priori known characteristics can be very helpful. In this paper we describe an updating of a procedure previously published for the computerized simulation of fetal heart rate signals, realized in order to obtain more realistic signals. Obtained results, analyzed by a team of experts, are satisfying, in that new simulated signals appear less regular and more complex, and hence more similar to real signals. Nevertheless, further research is necessary for obtaining very realistic signals. The future research will be initially focused on the study of floatingline and uterine contractions simulation
Abstract: This article analyzes the relationship between faith and reason in Clement of Alexandria, who, although he did not develop a systematic theory on the matter, sensed the great balance principle: God Himself is the author of nature and grace. Thus he achieves an effective synthesis of both: he does not allow the modest contribution of reason to be underestimated or ignored, but does not exalt revealed doctrine to the point of declaring it the only sovereign certainty on the road that man must take towards his own eternal salvation. This article is complemented by a study of historical-cultural and biographical background information to properly understand the context of Clement’s thought.
