Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Get PDFIndonesia merupakan negara agraris yang berpotensi ditanami berbagai macam komoditi, salah satunya hortikultura. Kentang (Solanum tuberosum L.) merupakan komoditas penting tanaman hortikultura yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi dan juga merupakan bahan pangan pokok alternatif sumber karbohidrat disamping beras (Fatimah, 2011). Namun dalam pemasarannya, kentang memiliki kendala antara lain produksi yang tidak memenuhi konsumsi dalam negeri, sehingga pemerintah melakukan kebijakan impor. Karena impor, timbul fluktuasi pada harga yang menyebabkan ketidakstabilan perekonomian dalam negeri. Banyaknya jumlah kentang impor dengan harga yang relatif rendah dapat menyebabkan banyak petani yang mengalami kerugian pada usahatani kentang. Pada pasar yang tidak efisien terdapat adanya selisih perubahan harga di tingkat konsumen dengan petani. Integrasi harga diarahkan untuk menjawab informasi yang berhubungan dengan penentuan maupun perubahan harga di tingkat produsen, lembaga pemasaran, maupun konsumen, serta transmisi harga antar lokasi yang berbeda di dalam suatu negara (Asmara, 2010). Penelitian ini penting dilakukan untuk mengetahui integrasi yang terbentuk pada pemasaran kentang, dengan tujuan: (1) Menganalisis integrasi harga kentang antara produsen dengan pedagang grosir; (2) Menganalisis integrasi harga kentang antara pedagang grosir dengan pedagang pengecer (konsumen); dan (3) Menganalisis integrasi harga kentang antara produsen dengan pedagang pengecer (konsumen). Penelitian ini dilakukan di wilayah Kabupaten Malang secara purposive dengan pertimbangan bahwa wilayah Malang memiliki kontribusi besar dalam produksi kentang di wilayah Jawa Timur. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan April sampai dengan Mei 2015. Metode pengambilan data menggunakan data time series (60 data) dari tahun 2010 hingga 2014 yang diperoleh dari instansi terkait seperti Badan Pusat Statistik, Dinas Pertanian dan Perkebunan di Kabupaten Malang dan informasi dari beberapa sumber lain (studi literatur, artikel dan penelitian sebelumnya, serta jurnal ilmiah). Metode analisis yang digunakan untuk analisis dalam penelitian ini adalah uji stasioneritas data, uji kointegrasi Engle- Granger, uji Error Correction Model (ECM), dan uji kausalitas Granger. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa antara petani, pedagang grosir, dan konsumen kentang di Kabupaten Malang terjadi integrasi. Pada tahap pengujian dengan uji ADF dan uji Phillips Perron menunjukkan variabel harga di ketiga tingkat pelaku pasar tersebut telah stasioner pada diferensiasi pertama (first difference), sehingga masing-masing berada pada ordo yang sama yaitu ordo 1. Hasil pengujian uji kointegrasi Engle–Granger dan uji Error Correction Model (ECM) menunjukkan adanya integrasi harga kentang antar pelaku pasar. Dalam jangka panjang pergerakan harga kentang di tingkat produsen dipengaruhi oleh pasar kentang di tingkat pedagang grosir dan konsumen. Namun, integrasi yang terjadi antar produsen dan pedagang grosir dalam jangka pendek bergerak menjauh dari keseimbangan yang ada. Dan hal yang sama juga terjadi pada pergerakan harga antara pedagang grosir dan konsumen dan antara harga di tingkat produsen dan konsumen dimana pergerakannya menjauhi keseimbangan jangka pendek. Sedangkan hasil dari uji kausalitas menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan satu arah dari variabel produsen ke pedagang grosir, dari pedagang grosir ke konsumen, dan dari konsumen ke produsen. Saran yang diajukan oleh peneliti berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Hendaknya petani dapat merencanakan produksi kentang dengan baik, sehingga volume pasokan tidak terlalu berlebihan di pasar. Apabila jumlah pasokan berlebihan, maka harga kentang yang berlaku di pasar menjadi fluktuatif, (2) Pemerintah hendaknya membantu memfasilitasi sarana informasi bagi seluruh pelaku pemasaran, seperti media cetak agar terwujudnya akses informasi harga yang baik, dan (3) Penelitian mengenai integrasi harga kentang di Kabupaten Malang perlu dilakukan lebih lanjut untuk menganalisis faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya integrasi pasar di setiap saluran pemasaran

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
