    本省工業進步,帶來社會富足與繁榮,同時也給生活環境帶來負面的影響;其中以環 境污染最為嚴重。重金屬的問題一如廢氣之排放,對人體健康,有其深遠之影響。重 金屬鎘的污染主要來自焊接工業,鋅鍊製廠,汽車輪始(含2○∼9○ppm ),電鍍 工廠等所排放之廢水及污泥。鎘存在大氣、水及土壤之中,具有累積作用,可經由食 物鏈而濃縮於生物體內,再攝入人體,而產生各種急性及慢性疾病。動物實驗結果發 現,鎘可導致惡性腫瘤、高血壓、及肺部細胞病變和腎功能減退等疾病。 本省空心菜栽培面積約有七千公頃,為夏季之大宗蔬菜,其中以淺水栽培為主要耕作 方式,由於權溉水質污染之可能性極高,因此亦為探討重金屬污染之適當材料。本試 驗之要旨在調查鎘污染對薙菜之生理變化,呼收與累積現象,及鎘與其他離子之交感 作用,期能明瞭鎘毒害之生理機制。 本試驗結果顯示,蕹菜受鎘污染時,新葉部分出現黃化現象,且根部褐變。由石臘初 片觀察結果,葉部柵狀、海綿組織及根部皮層細胞均有相當程度的破壞,直接影響各 種元素之吸收量及離子間之平衡,同時根部有鐵的累積現象,也可能影響鐵的轉運, 而造成類似缺鐵的病癥。電子顯微鏡及含鐵酵素之分析亦證實這種趨向。但蕹菜植株 之整體顯示鎘毒害並非單純之離子交互作用,鎘亦可能直接影響蕹菜植株之新陳代謝

    Recent studies show that Mortierella elongata can perform plant-growth promotion across different types of crops, including bahiagrass, corn, tomato, squash, and watermelon. Compared to the well-known species that have plant-growth-promotion abilities (e.g., mycorrhizal fungi, Trichoderma), growers, agents, and stakeholders are not familiar with "Mortierella" despite the important role these fungal taxa play in promoting the growth of their crops. This new 5-page publication of the UF/IFAS Department of Soil and Water Sciences provides a brief overview of Mortierella from biological, taxonomical, ecological, and functional perspectives to help readers learn the biology and potential modes of action of this fungus.
