No full textEl objetivo del artículo es presentar resultados de investigación sobre las experiencias de académicos y funcionarios universitarios de una institución de educación superior ubicada en el Norte de México ,sobre las modificaciones al Reglamento del Programa de Estímulos al Desempeño Docente que determina cómo debe realizarse la evaluación académica. Los hallazgos surgieron de dos procesos de investigación con dos metodologías :la teoría fundamentada (grounded theory) y la etnografía. La primera permitió establecer la conexión entre la teoría y el dato emergente para sistematizar los hallazgos sin categorías predeterminadas para examinar el trabajo de campo. La segunda, reconoce la subjetividad como base para el análisis, pero refrenda su postura ética y compromiso político que se caracteriza porque el investigador asiste un tiempo prolongado en el espacio estudiado y sin manipular los datos
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Feminicidio. Construcción de sentido y emociones en la comunidad universitaria
No full textEl sábado 6 de abril de 2019, Dana Lizeth Lozano Chávez, estudiante de la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, fue asesinada. En un co- municado fechado el 8 de abril de 2019 la Fiscalía General del estado de Chihu- ahua señala: “Como ya se había informado, el cuerpo sin vida de Dana Lizeth Lozano Chávez fue localizado el pasado sábado 06 de abril aproximadamente a las 00:15 horas, entre las calles Bucarest y Haití de la colonia Progresista. La Di- rección de Servicios Periciales y Ciencias Forenses indicó que la causa de muer- te fue por un ‘shock hipovolémico consecutivo a laceración de arteria carótida producida por un arma punzocortante’’ (Fiscalía de Chihuahua, 2019).
La Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, en respuesta al feminicidio de la estudiante, suspendió actividades, entre otras razones por el “duelo ante la muerte de Dana Lizeth Lozano Chávez y en solidaridad con su familia”, como señaló en su momento Comunicación Universitaria el 06/04/2019. El aconte- cimiento produjo varias acciones por parte de la comunidad universitaria:
Más de 32 mil alumnos de la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua (UACJ), suspendieron clases ayer en protesta por el feminicidio de Dana Lizeth Lozano Chávez, alumna de la licenciatura en literatura, de 18 años de edad, quien fue acuchillada el 6 de abril en las inmediaciones del Instituto de Ciencias Biomédicas del campus universitario. A su vez, cientos de estudiantes del Instituto de Ciencias Sociales y Administración de la UACJ marcharon en esa ciudad fronteriza, acompañados por familiares de Dana para exigir justicia y convocaron a un paro activo de labores en el que acordaron actividades de protesta para los próximos días (Villalpando, 2019, 27).
Por su parte, la Fiscalía especializada de la Mujer, en un comunicado fe- chado el 9 de abril de 2019 señala que ese día se desarrolló “la audiencia de formulación de imputación en contra de Andrés David H.S., de 18 años, el cual es acusado por el delito de feminicidio en perjuicio de quien fuera identificada como Dana Lizeth Lozano Chávez de 18 años” (Fiscalía Especializada de la Mujer, 2019). Este feminicidio se produce en un país donde, según el Obser- vatorio de Igualdad de Género de América Latina y el Caribe, en 2018 -último año disponible- hubo un número absoluto de 898 feminicidios y una tasa (por cada 100. 000 mujeres): de 1.4 (Observatorio de Igualdad de Género, 2020). Por otro lado, el Observatorio Ciudadano Especializado en Género, a través de los Resultados del Monitoreo 2019 de violencia feminicida en Ciudad Juárez, muestra una tendencia creciente en cuanto a homicidios dolosos contra mujeres: en 2015, 46 casos; en 2016, 54; 2017, 93; 2018, 105; 2019, 180; de estos últimos homicidios sólo el 7.7% fueron clasificados como feminicidio, es decir, 14 ca- sos. En este contexto, se busca analizar cómo se experimenta el acontecimiento en la comunidad universitaria
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Full text linkWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
