No full textThis 1964 photograph, taken by Asheville Citizen-Times photographer Ewart McKinley Ball, Jr. (1918-1966), shows a tribute to Hubert Hayes honoring 16 years working with the Asheville Junior Chamber of Commerce. The tribute was presented to his wife, Leona Trantham Hayes on behalf of the Asheville Junior Chamber of Commerce on September 28, 1964. Founder and director of the Mountain Youth Jamboree, Hubert H. Hayes (1901-1964) auditioned and directed youth to perform in folk dance, music, and folk and ballad singing. The jamboree was held in the Asheville City Auditorium (now known as Thomas Wolfe Auditorium) from 1948 to 1973, and Hayes’ wife, Leona Trantham Hayes (1913-1989) continued to direct the program after his death in 1964. Hubert Hayes was an author, playwright, and alumni of Duke University

No full textLetter from Hubert Phillips to American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California, enclosing checks for $57 from F. C. Kellogg, Arthur E. Geschke, Claus Bertelsen, and Hubert Phillips. The letter states that the checks represent "the contributions of about twenty-five people made at a dinner held here recently to consider the phases of the status of citizens of Japanese ancestry and is to be applied specifically to helping prosecute the case of Miss Mitsuye Endo. Mr. F. C. Kellogg of the Fowler High School faculty was the author of the idea and deserves the credit for raising the enclosed contribution."The ACLU-Northern California case file records contain legal documents and correspondence pertaining to the case Ex parte Mitsuye Endo (1944), in which the United States Supreme court unanimously ruled that the federal government could not indefinitely detain United States citizens who were loyal to the government. Files include documents related to the Gordon Hirabayashi Supreme Court case Hirabayashi v. United States

No full textDesde su ingreso como investigador al IISUNAM en 1981, la producción académica de Hubert Carton de Grammont se ha centrado en ejes de análisis, que no son abordados cronológicamente, sino a partir del dinamismo de la transformación en las formas productivas en el campo, los cambios en los territorios y sus recursos, y la complejidad creciente en las relaciones entre actores sociales cada vez más diversos. Esos ejes son: a) Jornaleros agrícolas y empresas agroindustriales, b) Organizaciones de productores y transición democrática, c) los cambios en las fuentes de empleo de la población rural y la nueva ruralidad
Los resultados de sus investigaciones se plasman en la publicación de libros, capítulos en libros y artículos científicos como autor o coautor, además de varias ediciones en formato electrónico. Asimismo escribió prólogos para varios libros, reseñas de libros, informes de investigación para instituciones públicas y materiales de docencia, así como traducciones de artículos científicos al español. Además de México, ha publicado en Canadá, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra, Francia, España, y varios países de América del Sur.
