Electrification by solar energy is being introduced in rural electrification programs, offering a versatile and easily movable solution for providing electricity to off-grid households. The objectives of this study are to assess the current situation of electrification in Myanmar and examine the advantages and difficulties of implementing solar energy electrification. The study used descriptive method based on primary and secondary data. A mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative, was conducted by key informant interviews with 206 respondents in rural household of selective three villages in Taunggyi Township. The study found that solar energy electrification was particularly beneficial for education, reduced monthly electricity costs, and improved productivities in income-generating activities. Solar energy electrification has improved living standards and advancing social progress. However, ensuring these gains are sustainable and scalable requires further assistance in affordability, technical skill development, and maintenance support. While most community members view solar energy as a practical long-term solution, stronger support systems are essential to overcome challenges and extend these benefits to other areas in Myanmar
