    In this interview conducted by Sam Fauble, the narrator, Sam Hsieh (last name pronounced ?shay?), discusses his early life in Honolulu, Hawai?i and in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, his friends and family and how they reacted to him coming out, and his personal reaction to the change in identity. He also discussed the impact of race in both Honolulu and Lacrosse. He also discussed the issues he has experienced as identifying as transgender, such as harassment, the use of preferred gender pronouns, discrimination in the law towards transgendered people, the process of transitioning, and the feeling of being excluded from many LGBTQ movements
