Anton chekhov remakes in viliam klimacek's and howard barker's plays.

The Master thesis ‘Anton Chekhov remakes in Viliam Klimacek's and Howard Barker's plays’ aims to understand why modern dramatists are still looking for an inspiration in canonical authors texts, in this case – Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. It is also important to find out in what ways this topicality manifests itself. Finding answers to these questions is based on the concept of remake, which opens up the widest opportunities to examine selected plays. The aim of the thesis is to find out how playwrights create new texts and what kind of Chekhov’s texts vertions are offered by Villiam Klimaček and Howard Barker. The focus of Villiam Klimaček's play ‘Chekhov-Boxer’ is the remake of the original Chekhov's characters, their transformation in Klimaček's text. Attention is focused on specific characters' statements, interrelationships and changing subordination. Analyzing Howard Barker's play "(Uncle) Vania" brings up the issue of the importance of the name, as well as the importance of the ability to speak and tell your thoughts loudly. Emphasis is placed on Barker's characteristic breaking of the language, which is presented through expression. The analysis of the selected plays reveals what the playwrights choose and what results they get. In both cases, the motivation for remake is the same – using ‘authoritative’ characters and making them speak exploits the opportunity to actualize the historical, political, and cultural contexts of concern

Patterns of resemblance and Bachmann-Howard fixed points

Timothy Carlson’s patterns of resemblance employ the notion of Σ₁-elementarity to describe large computable ordinals. It has been conjectured that a relativization of these patterns to dilators leads to an equivalence with π¹₁ -comprehension (Question 27 of A. Montalbán's "Open questions in reversemathematics",Bull.Symb. Log. 17(3)2011, 431-454). In the present paper we prove this conjecture. The crucial direction of the equivalence (towards π¹₁-comprehension) is reduced to a previous result of the author, which is concerned with relativizations of the Bachmann-Howard ordinal
