Effect of Nb-doping on electrochemical stability of Li(4)Ti(5)O(12) discharged to 0 V

    No full text
Li4Ti4.95Nb0.05O12 is synthesized by a citric acid-assistant sol–gel method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) reveals that highly crystalline Li4Ti4.95Nb0.05O12 without any impurity is obtained. The electrochemical performances of the Li4Ti4.95Nb0.05O12 and the Li4Ti5O12 in the range from 0 to 2.5 V are investigated. The Li4Ti4.95Nb0.05O12 presents a higher specific capacity and better cycling stability than the Li4Ti5O12 due to the improved conductivity. The Li4Ti4.95Nb0.05O12 exhibits a capacity as high as 231.2 mAh g−1 after 100 cycles, which is much higher than the Li4Ti5O12 (111.1 mAh g−1). The effect of Nb-doping on electrochemical performance of Li4Ti5O12 discharged to 0 V has also been discussed.Bingbing Tian, Hongfa Xiang, Le Zhang, Haihui Wan

Synthesis of LiFePO(4)/C composite as a cathode material for lithium-ion battery by a novel two-step method

    No full text
In this study, LiFePO4/C is synthesized via a novel two-step method. The first step is the synthesis of nano-sized intermediate FePO4 by a modified sol–gel method. A fast and full combustion procedure is involved to remove carbon and control the size of the intermediate particles. The second step is to prepare LiFePO4/C by combining solid-state reaction with controllable carbon coating. This two-step method is facile to prepare nano-sized LiFePO4 and easy to optimize the carbon content for surface coating. X-ray diffraction shows that the LiFePO4/C composite possesses good crystallinity. Spherical morphology with a diameter of 30–150 nm is observed by scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope. Electrochemical measurements indicate that the LiFePO4/C composite exhibits discharge capacities of 162, 144, 126, and 106 mAh g−1 at 0.1, 1, 2, and 5C, respectively. No capacity fading is observed in 50 cycles.Le Zhang, Hongfa Xiang, Xuefeng Zhu, Weishen Yang, Haihui Wan

Data for 'Studies on the Xiang dialects'

    No full text
The data comprises IPA and partial Chinese character transcriptions of 22 narratives in Xiang, where speakers retell the events of the pear stories video. This is drawn from a larger corpus of 47 Xiang narratives collected by the author.  Also included are .xlsx and .csv files including demographic data for the full 47 respondents, a dataset for Study #1 of the thesis entitled 'Studies on the Xiang dialects', and three datasets for Study #3 for the same thesis.    </p

Self-standing integrative cell with an inorganic separator for lithium-ion battery stacks

    No full text
An integrative cell with a porous Al2O3 membrane as both a support and a separator has been fabricated. LiFePO4 and graphite were coated onto the both sides of the rigid porous Al2O3 separator, while an electrolyte was infiltrated inside. The LiFePO4/graphite integrative cells were evaluated in coin-type cells and exhibited good cycle capacity. The self-standing integrative cell was a simple and promising technology to assemble the battery stacks and meanwhile had an obvious advantage of forming a firm structure, which could avoid inner short circuit during being moved or crashed.Jingjuan Chen, Hongfa Xiang, Le Zhang, Haihui Wan

Anxiolytic-Like Effects of Compound Zhi Zhu Xiang in Rats

    No full text
The purpose of this study was to determine whether compound zhi zhu xiang (CZZX) exerts anxiolytic-like effects in rats. The animals were orally administered CZZX (0.75, 1.5, and 3 g/kg daily) for 10 days and tested in the elevated plus maze (EPM), Vogel conflict test (VCT), and open field. Repeated treatment with CZZX (3 g/kg/day, p.o.) significantly increased the percentage of both entries into and time spent on the open arms of the EPM compared with saline controls. In the VCT, repeated treatment with CZZX (1.5 and 3 g/kg/day, p.o.) significantly increased the number of punished licks. The drug did not change the total entries into the open arms of the EPM or interfere with water consumption or nociceptive threshold, discarding potential confounding factors in the two tests. In the open field, locomotion was not reduced, discarding the possible sedative effect of CZZX. In the binding assay, the binding of [H-3] Ro 15-1788 (flumazenil) to the benzodiazepine binding site in washed crude synaptosomal membranes from rat cerebral cortex was affected by CZZX. These data indicate an anxiolytic-like profile of action for CZZX without sedative side effects, and this activity may be mediated by benzodiazepine binding site modulation at.-aminobutyric acid-A receptors
