MILLIMETER- WAVE LABORATORY DETECTION OF
1. T. Amano and H. E. Warner, Astrophys, J. 342, L99 (1989).Author Institution: Herzberg Institute of astrophysics, National Research Council; Heyrovsk\'y Institute of Physical Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic; Department of Physics and Astronomy, Ibaraki UniversityThe ground state rotational spectrum of protonated formaldehyde, , has been identified and assigned following the infrared detection by Amano and , using a magnetically confined extended negative glow discharge as a production source. The molecular constants have been determined more accurately. These parameters provide the pure rotational transition frequencies which are accurate enough for radio astronomical searches for this ion in interstellar molecular clouds

A Study on the Credibility Issue of Correction/Enlargement in English-Japanese Bilingual Dictionaries –The Case of An English-Japanese Dictionary, Originally Compiled and Translated by Masakichi Shibata and Takashi Koyasu, Corrected by Tameyuki Amano and Enlarged by Choyo Suzuki–
This paper discusses the credibility issue of correction/enlargement of An English-Japanese Dictionary, second edition , originally compiled and translated by Masakichi Shibata and Takashi Koyasu in 1873(6th year of Meiji), corrected by Tameyuki Amano and enlarged by Choyo Suzuki published in 1886 (19th Year of Meiji). This bilingual dictionary has been undervalued as a mere reprinted version of its first edition which was published in 1885 (18th year of Meiji) by Kobayashi Kamenoshin. If this is true, therefore, the ‘correction/enlargement,’ so written on the title page of the Amano-Suzuki second edition (1886), has no meaning at all. However, the present author incidentally found a unique translation equivalent for ‘giraffe’ in the Amano-Suzuki dictionary (Murahata, 2021). We cannot find the equivalent in any of the English-Japanese dictionaries which have ever been published in Japan since the end of the Edo period. Comparing traslation equivalents for more than 2,600 headwords in the dictionary with those in four closely related dictionaries, this paper seeks for more credible evidence to renounce the underestimation that the Amano and Suzuki dictionary is just a facsimile of the first edition and confirm the reality that the dictioinary is actually a new version preciously and carefully corrected and enlarged, if not drastically, by Amano and Suzuki.departmental bulletin pape
Soggetti che si amano. La vita della coppia dal miele dell’amore romantico all’acido del calo del desiderio e oltre
Soggetti che si amano. La vita della coppia dal miele dell’amore romantico all’acido del calo del desiderio e oltre is the latest book publishedby Giuseppe D'Amore (Psychologist, Psychotherapist and Psychoanalyst, MemberOrdinary of the Italian Society of Relationship Psychoanalysis). Released at the beginning of 2023, it represents at least in part the ideal continuation of the previous volume by the same author, 'Subjects that meet. From the relationship with others to the relationship with oneself... and vice versa',printed in 2021 also with the same publisher and whose review was published in No. 3, Year XXXIII, 2022 of Ricerca Psicoanalitica(pp. 637-641). SUB-MILLIMETER WAVE LINES OF THE LOWEST ROTATIONAL TRANSITION OF CH RADICAL
T. Amano, paper RD05, 53rd International Symposium on Molecular Spectroscopy, Columbus, Ohio, USA, June, 1998 J.T. Hougen et al, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 72, 463-483(1978) J.M. Brown and K.M. Evenson, Astrophys. J.268, L51-L56(1983)Author Institution: Institute for Astrophysics and Planetary Sciences, Ibaraki UniversityThe lowest rotational transition of CH radical, , has been observed in 532.7 GHz and 536.8 GHz regions with a sub-millimeter wave spectrometer operated with a phase-locked backward-wave oscillator as a radiation source. The CH radical was generated in a DC glow discharge with a mixture of and and all the six hyperfine components were recorded, using frequency-discharge double modulation . These transitions had already been observed by using LMR and the zero field transition frequencies were calculated with 1.5 MHz accuracy by Brown and . From our new direct observation, more accurate transition frequencies were determined with typically uncertainty. Astrophysically these accurate frequencies will be of great use for probing hydrocarbon chemistry in warmer and denser regions of molecular clouds
THz SPECTROSCOPY OF HD
Author Institution: Department of Physics, University of Toyama, Gofuku, Toyama 930-8555, Japan; Department of Chemistry, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Canada N2L 3G1The pure rotational transition frequencies of HD, , and , have been measured in the laboratory precisely by using a tunable far-infrared spectrometer. Among them, the line was recently detected in space toward Sgr B2 by Cernicharo {\it et al.}. Their identification was made based on a calculated line frequency estimated from the spectroscopic data of Amano and Hirao. It has been found that our measured frequency of this line, 2363242.82(69) MHz, is lower by about 20 MHz than the estimated value. All the available THz lines and known millimeter- and submillimeter-wave lines together with the combination differences derived from the infrared transitions are fitted to the Watson effective Hamiltonian. A set of improved molecular constants are obtained. \\ ----------------------------------------\\ J.Cernicharo, E. Polehampton, and J.R. Goicoechea. {\it Astrophys. Phys. 81, 2869 (1984)Author Institution: Institute for Astrophysics and Planetary Sciences, Ibaraki UniversityThe first spectroscopic detection of was made in the infrared region at National Research Council of , followed by observations of two rotational transitions ( and ) in the THz . Polyansky and McKellar derived more accurate molecular constants and term values by combining all the available . However, since the molecule is very light, even such revised molecular constants should be subject to critical tests. The line position of the transition was predicted to be 691.705 GHz by using previous IR data. A backward-wave oscillator based submillimeter-wave system was used for the observation of the spectra. The molecules were generated in an extended negative glow discharge in gas mixture of and with Ar as buffer gas near liquid nitrogen temperature (77 K). Following numerous efforts, in the range of the expected spectral region, we discovered only one signal at 691.660440 GHz that was highly sensitive to magnetic field that was applied to the discharge to achieve the extended negative glow condition. This absorption line vanished by cutting off or gas, by inducing tiny air leak, or by raising cell temperature. In contrast to , the mixing ratio of was found to be less sensitive in producing . This behavior was similar to the findings in previous IR spectroscopy at . The optimum mixing ratio of gases was found to be mTorr and discharge current was about 8 mA. The observed line width was comparable with the Doppler line width of the molecule , assuming that the temperature of the cell was 77 K. A set of the improved molecular constants was obtained by combining all available IR data
The Fox and the Grapes
This is a 28-page large-format pamphlet that needs a plain brown wrapper. It is titled (in English) The fox and the grapes. The title-page has a clear English announcement Adult only. The bulk of the book is then a black-and-white graphic novelette that is indeed graphic! From my quick look I have little sense of how the fable of the fox and the grapes is played out in this intense sexual adventure (or adventures?). I offer one last word of warning. Do some or all Japanese books work from our back to our front? The pages, I notice, are numbered that way, and now I see that what I took for the back cover is an appropriate cover with the same English title and warning as the title-page. Aesop provokes a great deal!Language note: JapaneseKanon: Makoto Sawatori and Mishio Aman
DIFFERENCE FREQUENCY LASER SPECTROSCOPY OF MOLECULAR IONS
Address of Nakanaga and Amano: Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics, National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada KIA OR6.Author Institution:A hollow cathode discharge cell has proven to be an excellent source of positive ions. In the past few years, we have attained a significant improvement in sensitivity of the system which enables us to search for weaker lines of more complicated ions. In this talk, we will present our recent results on three symmetric top ions of astrophysical interest, , and , detected in absorption in a modulated discharge through the mixtures of and and , and and , respectively. This is the first high-resolution spectroscopic detection of and . Both the band of and the band of exhibit a clear sign of perturbations. In , the perturbation is more conspicuous, and an extra band yet to be identified is also obsered. The rotational constants for the ground state have been determined for both and through a least squares fit by using the combination differences. The lines of show no sign of the inversion doubling, and the preliminary molecular constants obtained agree well with ab initio predictions. The rotational transition frequencies have been calculated to assist in future search for these ions in interstellar space. possesses a permanent dipole moment of about 0.26 D, and it will be possible to detect the rotational transitions in the millimeter and sub-millimeter-wave region in interstellar space and in the laboratory. Our analysis of the fundamental band provides a prediction of the rotational transition frequencies
