Enhancing innovation speed through trust: -A case study on reframing employee defensive routines
Trust in organizations plays an essential role for efficient innovation implementation. However, trust between managers and employees is under-communicated in relation to innovation speed. Innovation speed is related to innovation adoption, concerning new ways of performing laboratory services within the health sector. The purpose of this case study is to investigate how trust mechanisms may enhance innovation speed by reducing employee decisions to perform defensive routines. The focus is related to trust as a social condition for enhancing innovation acceptance in the context of management and organizing styles subject to the Norwegian Work Life Model.
The study found that a lack of employee participation and involvement may result in emotional tension, a sense of uncertainty, disconnect, and various defensive mechanisms towards management and the innovation. Consequently, employees’ attention, loyalty, and responsibility might be redirected away from the innovation
Læringsutbyttestudie av Norges Første Læringsfabrikk
Purpose: with this master thesis, Norway’s first learning factory was built. The purpose was to conduct a case study and find the learning outcomes students had by partaking on the activity. Approach: a thorough literature review was conducted where the appropriate theories to classify the needed educational processes was found, and embedded into the learning factory design. Further, with the collaboration with co-student Olga Ogorodnyk, the students got to improve the line in means of theories (kaizen, efficiency, waste reduction, pull and push). The students were also interviewed, with the intend of making them evaluate and reflect on the learning process and making it possible to find the learning outcomes. Findings: with the thesis work it was established that the design of the learning factory provided the intended learning outcomes to be fulfilled. Not only were they fulfilled, also there were found others as well. Value: in regards to research, this thesis contributes to fill the knowledge gap that exist in current learning factory literature. In relation to Norwegian education and society, this thesis helps to highlight the need of implementing learning factories in current education. Furthermore, another value is the fact that it is the first learning factory built in Norway. Conclusion: students got to learn how to assemble roller skis, as well as learning how to work in a learning factory. The students also learned how to improve assembly line in means of theory. From the literature review it was found that learning factories contributes to give an experiential learning that enable people with original thinking and perceptional skills, which can not be learned from conventional learning methods. From the case study, it is clear that the theory is true, and it was highly represented in the statements from students, who claimed that it was a method which made them remember better, and that it was a better method than lectures.
Sirkulærøkonomi i sportsbransjen
Introduction: Today’s society encourages physical activity in order to achieve good health. These activities are often outdoor activities, making use of what the nature and environment has to offer. In this paper we wish to examine whether the sports industry is working according to their own values – to find out if they thrive to preserve natural resources, and to highlight the sustainability of the sports industry from a circular economic point of view.
Research question: To what extent is the sports industry sustainable?
Method: Qualitative in-depth interviews with main participants in the industry. Among these; two producers, one chain store and one advocacy group.
Results: Many of the participants of the sports industry value the importance of circular economy and take responsibility when it comes to sustainable development. There are, however, certain challenges regarding building a business on a circular economic basis/model. It is, therefore, a great variety in how different industries are working to overcome these challenges. Part of the problem is connected to outsourced production in parts of the world, such as Asia, where mass production and low wages are more common. The desire to run a more sustainable, yet profitable production, seems to be especially difficult to achieve in the textile business. Other types of industries seem to be more suited for a sustainable business model.
Conclusion: According to our findings it may seem that the sports industry still has a way to go when it comes to making the production and industries more sustainable. However, it is obvious that more and more companies are making an effort to find more sustainable solutions based on circular economic principles
Development of educational activity based on the learning factory in order to enhance learning experience
Purpose: The following thesis describes development of educational activity in order to enhance students’ practical and theoretical knowledge on topics of kaizen, waste types, efficiency, push/pull production systems, in addition to this, it gives suggestions/guidelines for creation of similar activities. Approach: Such methods as literature review and group interview were used in order to conduct the study and evaluate developed educational activity. Practical case study approach was also applied. Findings: Educational activities based on learning factories are a valuable part of the learning process, since they significantly enhance practical and theoretical knowledge of participants. Combination of use of such concepts as learning factories, experience based learning, experiential learning cycle, game based learning, serious games and sensemaking leads to enhancement of learning experience gained during educational activities. Value: Thesis can be used as instruction for application of the developed educational activity. In addition to this, it includes list of suggestions and example for those willing to create similar activities, especially in the field of engineering and manufacturing education

Gjennom litteraturanalyse identifiseres allerede kjente indikatorer for gode målinger.
Dedikerte ressurser, 8. Opplæring og kompetanseheving, og 9. Nivellering av målinger. Background:
The theoretical direction for the field of measurement and organizational control regarding performance measurement and performance management development are characterized by field-specific contributions. Therefore, there is a lack of common direction and consensus on leading frameworks for how to succeed with KPIs in organizations.
Objective:
This thesis first seeks to compile various theoretical contributions into a theoretical framework. Through an empirical study, it is tested whether the same identifiers are valid, or whether there are new identifiers that are valid. These are identified as key identifiers for success with KPIs in companies.
Method:
Already identified indicators for good measurements are identified through a literature study. This study’s empirical contribution is built from a case study including 9 qualitative interviews. The study has been carried out in a European context with Norwegian-speaking informants from the organizations three hierarchical levels, in addition to an expert resource.
Results/findings:
This study identifies that 5 identifiers from the literature study do not seem to be prominent in the empirical study. 3 new identifiers from the empirical study has been discovered that was not already identified in the existing literature. It is 9 identifiers for good KPI in organizations.
Conclusion:
A new theoretical framework that is called the KPI compass identifies 9 key identifiers for how companies can succeed with KPI: 1. The management's intention with the measurements must be clear, 2. Adjustments as needed through flexible measurements, 3. The measurements contribute to learning and/or new knowledge, 4. Organizational culture that provides a common understanding and starting point, 5. Motivated and competent leaders, 6. Ownership at departmental level, 7. Dedicated resources, 8. Training and knowledge development, and 9. Leveling of measurements
The shift from CSR to shared value: Are Indian companies ready
In the field of business the social factor is just as important as the economic factor. They both are interconnected and have a significant impact on one other. Businesses acknowledge this and agree that for a healthy business, maintaining a peaceful and sound relationship with the society is very crucial. This is where concept such as Corporate Social Responsibility has arisen and further developments are made as to cope with the rapid changes in the business field. A more profound and new approach is Corporate Shared Value which overshadows the concept of charity and aims at creating a value that enables both the business and the society to benefit mutually. In this case, a rapidly growing economy such as Indian has been selected. This paper aims at providing an in-depth insight on both Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Shared Value and their impact and potential in the Indian society. A few Indian experienced business men were interviewed on these concepts and a practical initiative taken by one of the men interviewed has been presented. Upon analysing the interviewees’ responses, the possible opportunities and threats in terms of sustaining their business in India has been discussed
