Data for 2D Lagrangian Particle tracking and evaluation for their hydrodynamic characteristics
## Abstract
This dataset entails PYTHON code for fluid mechanic evaluation of Lagrangian Particles with the "Consensus-Based tracking with Selective Rejection of Tracklets" (CSRT) algorithm in the "OpenCV" library, written by Ryan Rautenbach in the framework of his Master thesis.
## Workflow for Lagrangian Particle tracking and evaluatio via OpenCV
In the following a brief introduction and guide based on the folders in the repository is laid out. More code specific instructions can be found in the respective codes.
working_env_RMR.yml --> Contains the entire environment including software versions (here used with Spyder IDE and Conda) with which the datasets were evaluated.
01 --> The tracking always begins with the same 01_milti[...] folder in which the python code with OpenCV algorithm is located. For tracking the tracking to work certain directories are required in which the raw images are to be stored (separate from anything else) as well as a directory in which the results are to be save (not the same directory as the raw data).
After tracking is completed for all respective experiments and the results directories are adequately labelled and stored any of the other code files can be used for respective analyses. The order of folders beyond the first 01 directory has no relevance to the order of evaluation however can ease the understanding of evaluated data if followed.
02 --> Evaluation of amount of circulations and respective circulation time in experimental vat. (code can be extended to calculate the circulation time based on the various plains that are artificially set)
03 --> Code for the calculation of the amount of contacts with the vat floor. Code requires certain visual evaluations based on the LP trajectories, as the plain/barrier for the contact evaluation has to be manually set.
04 --> Contains two codes that can be applied to results data to combine individual results into larger more processable arrays within python.
05 --> Contains the code to plot the trajectory of single experiments of Lagrangian particles based on their positional results and velocity at respective position, highlighting the trajectory over the experiment.
06 --> Condes to create 1D histograms based on the probability density distribution and velocity distributions in cumulative experiments.
07 --> Codes for plotting the 2D probability density distribution (2D Histograms) of Lagrangian Particles based on the cumulative experiments. Code provides values for the 2D grid, plotting is conducted in Origin Lab or similar graphing tools, graphing can also be conducted in python whereby the seaborn (matplotlib) library is suggested.
08 --> Contain the code for the dimensionless evaluation of the results based on the respective Stokes number approaches and weighted averages. 2D histograms are also vital to this evaluation, whereby the plotting is again conducted in Origin Lab as values are only calculated in code.
09 --> Directory does not contain any python codes but instead contains the respective Origin Lab files for the graphing, plotting and evaluation of results calculated via python is given. Respective tables, histograms and heat maps are hereby given to be used as templates if necessary

Abstract:
This study analyzes trajectories of three particle types in an industrial-scale bioreactor, equipped with a Rushton turbine and a pitched blade turbine, to characterize hydrodynamic compartments. The trajectories obtained from measurements with Lagrangian Sensor Particles (LSP,exp) are compared to those generated by Lattice-Boltzmann large eddy simulations (LB LES). The latter method is used to reproduce analogous simulated LSPs (LSP,sim) as resolved particles. Additionally, for benchmarking purposes, massless tracer particles (tracer) are incorporated to accurately represent fluid flow dynamics. Discrepancies in the axial probability of presence and velocity between LSP,exp and LSP,sim likely stem from differences in mass distribution, density, number of particles, and ratio of particle size to grid. A necessarily high LSP,sim volume fraction in LB LES leads to increased collisions and clustering, negatively impacting flow dynamics, and reducing turbulent kinetic energy by at least . Circulation and residence time distributions for the three types of particles identify three hydrodynamic compartments within the bioreactor, validated by local mixing time distributions.The ratio of overall average circulation time to global mixing time is for LSP,exp, which largely corresponds to literature results. A theoretical LSP size of is estimated to be flow following on micro-scale in the bulk phase, if a Stokes number of is assumed. However, Stokes number estimations confirm that LSP,exp are capable to follow flow patterns on the meso-scale and macro-scale with and , respectively. Hence, hydrodynamic structures at length scales greater than or equal to the size of the impeller can be investigated by current state-of-the-art LSPs, which proves their technological readiness for industrial bioreactors.</p

This study employs Lagrangian Sensor Particles (LSPs) with a diameter of 40 mm equipped with a pressure sensor to investigate cell lifelines in a 15,000 L stirred tank reactor (STR) with three Elephant Ear impellers. The Stokes number of the LSPs is approx. 0.004 on a macro-scale. The vertical probability of presence, axial velocity profiles, circulation time distributions, and residence time distributions are quantified to analyze single-phase mixing heterogeneities, detect hydrodynamic compartments and conduct a Lagrangian regime analysis. Results reveal a similarly distributed probability of presence in the vertical reactor center but emphasize the LSP's sensitivity to fluctuating densities. Axial velocity distributions illustrate characteristic impeller-induced flow patterns, and circulation time distributions identify three compartments with comparatively shorter times in the axial center. Residence time distributions exhibit a similar compartmentalized profile. Moreover, the study estimates a potential oxygen deprivation zone for CHO cells in the upper compartment and demonstrates the LSP's efficacy in characterizing impeller systems. Contrary to literature, the ratio of examined global mixing times to circulation times is 1.0, highlighting macro-scale mixing. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
