COVID-19 and Immunology. The research found that DIAO B was a prolific author in COVID-19 and Immunology research, with 1247 publications. The most productive countries and institutions in this field were the USA (555 publications) and Huazhong university of science and technology (409

This article will be embargoed until 12/21/2024.Spintronic terahertz (THz) emitters have been shown to be a cost-efficient source for use in time-domain THz spectroscopy. The use of external magnetic fields to control the polarity of the THz emission provides an opportunity to measure the magnetization of spintronic materials as well as shaping THz emission. Here, we demonstrate an efficient method of measuring magnetic hysteresis with material sensitivity and speed several orders of magnitude greater than typical magnetometry methods. In addition, we utilize the rapid control of material magnetization for lock-in detection in time-domain THz spectroscopy of spintronic emitters. The ability to rapidly control and measure the material magnetization on very small volumes provides an opportunity to study magnetic hetero-structures with sub-micron spatial resolution.M.F.D. would like to thank Anna Stein for technical assistance. Deserts in general, and Indian deserts in particular, are less attended for microbial diversity. The Little Rann of Kutch (LRK), a coastal saline desert, is characterized by a unique combination of both dry and wet features. This study represents the first report on the extensive isolation, spatial distribution, 16S rRNA gene-based phylogeny, and identification of novel taxa. A total of 87 isolates were obtained from three different study sites in LRK. Based on the full 16S rRNA gene sequences, the isolates were grouped into 44 different phylotypes of four phyla: Firmicutes, Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, and Euryarchaeota. These in turn were represented by 19 different genera. Halomonas, Gracilibacillus, Thalassobacillus, Piscibacillus, Salimicrobium, Alkalibacillus, Bhargavaea, Proteus, Marinobacter, Pseudomonas, Kocuria, Corynebacterium, Planococcus, Micrococcus and Natronococcus identified in this study had never before been reported from this habitat. A majority of the isolates displayed broad salt and pH tolerance. The bacterial diversity of Venasar and Jogad closely resembled with each other. While Bacillus, Virgibacillus, Gracillibacillus, and Bhargavaea were common genera in all sites, six putative novel taxa of different phylogenetic groups were identified. Available nitrogen, pH, Organic carbon, TDS, and EC were the main environmental variables affecting the microbial diversity. Analysis of the geographical distribution revealed that a majority of the phylotypes had cosmopolitan distribution, followed by the saline and marine distribution, while ∼13% were affiliated with only LRK. The phylotypes associated with marine distribution decreased with increasing distance from the Gulf of Kutch, suggesting their endemism to marine environments. The study established the taxonomic novelty and prospects for the discovery of unique products and metabolites.</p
Engineering ethics and the Drexel University Library : a collaborative teaching partnership
At Drexel University, the present undergraduate engineering curriculum has evolved from the Enhanced Educational Experience for Engineering Students (E4) project and the Gateway Engineering Education Coalition, both National Science Foundation (NSF) funded initiatives to re-engineer undergraduate engineering education. Since its institutionalization in 1994, the curriculum has served as a model for an integrated lower-division engineering curriculum. One aspect of engineering education proposed in this curriculum was “addressing ethics in the context of an engineering issue”. To accomplish this goal, courses were designed with engineering ethics topics embedded within the syllabus. In parallel, the past decade has seen extensive growth in the number of electronic journals such as those from the IEEE, and electronic books available as subscription based library electronic resources. Along with the web, this has created an information overload that is now a major source of confusion among students. This paper discusses an effort to integrate these resources into coursework, as collaborative partnerships among the faculty, the library and students. We describe various materials used for teaching ethics, library created web-based instruction, librarian consultations with students to help them find various sources of information for engineering ethics, and in the process target ABET requirements of lifelong learning
