    Internal And External Factors Influencing Green Innovativeness Among Contractors In Malaysia

Tetapi, sangat sedikit k!\iian tentang inovasi hijau yang dilakukan dalam konteks kontraktor binaan di Malaysia. Objektif umum kajian ini adalah untuk menaksir takat daya inovatif hijau di kalangan kontraktor di Malaysia, serta untuk meneliti faktor dalaman dan luaran yang mempengaruhi daya inovatif hijau mereka. Kontraktor telah distratifikasi mengikut negeri. Pensampelan rawak mudah berkadar telah digunakan untuk memilih firma-firma kontraktor bangunan. Responden bagi kajian ini adalah kontraktor bangunan yang berdaftar dengan Badan Pembangunan Industri Pembinaan (CIDB) di dua belas (12) buah negeri di Semenanjung Malaysia. Buku panduan CIDB, yang diterbitkan dalam bulan Disember, tahun 2012 telah digunakan untuk mendapatkan populasi bagi kajian ini. Sejumlah 500 borang, yang mengandungi soal selidik kendiri berstruktur telah dikirim kepada responden. Sejumlah 293 borang soal selidik yang lengkap diisi dan berguna telah dikembalikan, menghasilkan kadar respons 58.6 peratus. Untuk mencapai objektif pertama kajian ini, skor min bagi daya inovatif hijau firma telah dihitung menggunakan statistik perihalan. Previous researchers have proven that innovation is the key success factor for any firm. Unfortunately, only a few researches on green innovation have been done in the Malaysian contractors' context. The general objectives of this study were to assess the extent of green innovativeness among contractors in Malaysia, and to examine the internal and external factors that influence their green innovativeness. Contractors were stratified according to states. A Proportionate simple random sampling was used to select building contractors firms. Respondent for this study were building contractors that registered with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) in the twelve (12) states of peninsular Malaysia. The CIDB directory published in Dec 2012 was used to obtain the population for this study. A total of 500 structured, self-administered questionnaires were sent to respondents and 293 duly completed and useful questionnaires were returned, yielding 58.6 per cent response rate. To achieve the first objective of this study, the mean score for firm green innovativeness was computed using descriptive statistics

    Exploring The Impact of Depression Among C&S Engineer at Construction Industry

    This study investigates the prevalence, contributing factors, and impact of depression among civil and structural (C&S) engineers within Sarawak’s construction industry. Depression, a critical mental health concern, is closely associated with diminished workplace safety performance, productivity, and overall well-being. Data were collected from 220 respondents through structured surveys, incorporating instruments such as the Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ) and Likert-scale assessments. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression techniques. The results indicate that multitasking demands, tight project deadlines, and physical fatigue are major contributors to depression, which was primarily reported at mild to moderate levels. Regression analysis revealed a strong relationship between depression and safety performance, with depression accounting for 95.9% of the observed variability. Additionally, symptoms like mental fatigue and musculoskeletal discomfort compound workplace challenges. These findings underscore the urgent need for targeted mental health support, ergonomic interventions, and policy reforms to enhance both employee well-being and safety outcomes in the construction sector

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

    BIM Capabilities to Achieve Projects Key Performance Indicators in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Infrastructure Projects

    The construction industry in Saudi Arabia is experiencing significant expansion as a result of governmental initiatives and international construction firms’ investments. The utilisation of conventional approaches proved inadequate in achieving the demands of the contemporary era, leading to the failure to attain project key performance indicators (KPIs) and project success, subsequent project delays, cost overrun, and time overrun. The present study focuses on the implementation of BIM in infrastructure construction projects within the context of KSA and BIM has the potential to assist in achieving project KPIs. The objective of this research is to prioritize Building Information Modelling (BIM) applications towards project key performance indicators (KPIs) with the implementation of Fuzzy AHP to manage and achieve project success in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). To do this, a review of the literature on the KPIs and associated BIM contributions was conducted. A novel feature of the methodology employed by the researcher is the application of the Delphi method and the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP). During the initial phases of the study, professionals offered multiple rounds of input and feedback utilizing the Delphi method. In the third round, a consensus was reached. Subsequently, an enhanced fuzzy AHP was employed to establish a correlation between KPIs of a project and BIM capabilities. The study revealed that the utilization of BIM software for infrastructure projects can facilitate that clash detection, cost estimation, and construction monitoring play a significant role in the successful implementation of BIM and can help reduce costs, save time, and improve quality during construction by detecting potential conflicts and errors early in the design phase. Additionally, the utilization of 4D, which involves project scheduling and construction sequencing, and 5D, which involves construction cost estimation, has subsequent positive impacts on the KPIs of infrastructure construction projects in KSA
