    Optimization parameter for mpeg-4 data over wireless sensor network

    Conventional Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) always deals with scalar data such as temperature, humidity, pressure and lights. These types of data are very suitable for low rate and low power networking technology such as IEEE802.15.4. Transmitting a video for IEEE 802.15.4 standard is an interest due to the capability of providing low complexity with low cost but still maintaining the good quality of video in term of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). However transferring video posed new challenges for bandwidth constrained sensor networks like WSN. Furthermore, processing power put a serious limitation on it for any sophisticated processing. Therefore a method needed for reliable video transfer and one way is to compress the video format. A simulation testing has been done to determine the optimal threshold for quantization scale, group of picture and frame per second in order to tailor with the environment of WSN 802.15.4. When these three parameters are changed, the video quality and bandwidth requirement will be affected. Therefore this project aims to create an embedded code in TelG mote according to this concept. Experiment testbeds are conducted for indoor and outdoor to investigate the network performance in term of packet delivery ratio and total packet loss. Results show the packet delivery ratio of optimized MPEG-4 data for Akiyo cif file is 36% better than the non-optimized MPEG-4 data, Foreman cif file is 12% and Mobile cif file is 8%. Thus this project have prooved that optimized parameter of MPEG-4 data has successfully increase the network performance of WSN

    The purpose of this project was to determine the technology acceptance using Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) towards Continuous Professional Development (CPD) system among University A academic staffs. The dependency of System Usage of CPD system as the dependent variable was cross check with four independent variables namely, Perceived Usefullness, Perceived Ease of Use, Management Support, and System Quality. A total Of fifty five correspondents replied the questionnaires and the data obtained were analyzed using Statistical package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 13. A conclusion was drawn that Perceived Usefullness, Perceived Ease of Use, and System Quality have positive relationships with System Usage of CPD while management support has negative relationships with CPD

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) is a protocol that is proposed for the future of the mobile Internet access. The aim of MIPv6 is to provide seamless communication services to mobile nodes. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of real time applications: voice and video transmission on MIPv6 network. In this paper the implementation of MIPv6 and fast handover MIPv6 (FMIPv6) is modeled and simulated using Network Simulator 2 (NS-2) software. The performance is analyzed for three different voice coding schemes and video based on H.263 format for both MIPv6 and FMIPv6

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Deployment and Evaluation of a Multi-Hop Wireless Network

    Multi-hop wireless network uses two or more wireless hops to send information from source to destination. This paper presents the design and deployment of multi-hop wireless network testbed in Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). While using the testbed to provide additional WiFi coverage around the cafeteria area in UTeM Industrial Campus, real-time measurements of various key parameters are carried out. This paper also provides some technical details of the testbed implementation as well as performance evaluation of network coverage, signal strength and connectivity. Performance of network throughput and effect of difference channel allocations are also presented

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
