ESL learners often struggle with selfconfidence, fear of negative evaluation, shyness, and worry about making mistakes, which impede their speaking skills (Nijat et al., 2019). Get PDFIt has been well accepted that academics play a vital role in one’s life. It can be seen when we structure our CV’s, how many people state their academic qualifications first? How many have skills first? Commonly, the former always appears first rather than the latter. As much as academics is prioritized, we should not forget that there are other important skills that need to be instilled and acquired by today’s generation. Here, we will probe the depth of social and emotional skills and the wisdom of academics. To begin with, social skills are vital for communication. Many students are- not fully aware of these skills particularly when they work with classmates for group work. Specifically, students need to be trained as to get along with others, to read social cues as to communicate effectively and to handle conflict resolution strategies whenever in disagreement situations. If students are not well-trained for these skills it will impede the pathway to success in their career. For instance, when they are at the workplace and will be surrounded with different kinds of behavior; these skills are crucial to successfully convey the message to other co- workers. This is also to avoid miscommunication in a case that others have misinterpreted the message. Additionally, during class instructions and assignments, learners are supposed to be taught on the organizational skills as such to start the task given immediately, manage time well, prepare a schedule and use effective study strategies to endure the challenges in study. Thus, this shows that students need to strengthen themselves with effective social skills

Students are not fully aware of how important it is to get themselves well-prepared before attending a class. Generally, being well-prepared for class has more to do with how well you spend your time wisely, which has less to do with how much you spend your time preparing for the class. It has a similarity with the time you spend taking an examination, which means that the more time you spend studying, the more you will be well-prepared for the examination. A well-prepared class will enhance an active learning environment, increase students’ engagement in learning, stimulate learning interest, and encourage collaborative learning

Whatever reasons you have for learning English either it is for job promotion, pursuing your study or for any personal reason you have; it is undeniable that you would need the language someday in your life (“The Benefits of Learning English,” 2016). However, many students do not even realize the importance of not only learning the language but also to acquire the language thus to become proficient in it. In realizing the impact of the English language on career opportunities and social activities (A. Jasim, 2021), not many students are aware that they already have the hidden potential of learning and acquiring the language. Some students learn the language just for passing the subject or to meet the faculty’s requirements. They, on the other hand, do not see the benefits of one skill over the other language skills. The students apparently have always thought of the language as a subject and part of the program. In addition to that, there are four language skills that students usually learned since they were in school until graduating from the universities. The language skills range from reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Along the path of knowing and learning the language skills, one student may be good in writing and not on other skills. Some students may not be good in listening, reading, and writing but are fluent in the spoken form. Thus, these create a variety of language learners, and they must see the hidden potential that they have if they are able to acquire even one skill

No full textTaking notes while listening to a lecture or teacher’s talk has decreased and is drowning amongst the pile of technological devices. Some students perceive this way of learning as outdated, especially Generation Z and the newly emerging Gen Alpha, where they mostly prefer digital ready-made materials. These generations are too much dependent on using their smartphone to be used for snapping notes presented in the slides. Moreover, they find it much easier to record the lecture to be used later for revision or as a reference for the assignment. As a result of being pampered with technological devices, students tend to rely on these devices and refuse to focus on class. On the same token, the worst-case scenario is when they feel that the lesson is not important as they can follow up later on through reviewing the pictures taken earlier or through the recorded lesson. This scenario has made the students not appreciate lectures, and they will just sit in the class and somehow hope that the class will dismiss early as they no longer appreciate meeting the instructor in the class. Therefore, the instructors must know how to encourage the students to inculcate the habit of taking notes and some more share the benefits with the students
