Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Assessment of the effectiveness of Gestalt-Oriented Positive Parenting Support Program
No full textBu çalışma, Gestalt Odaklı Pozitif Ebeveynlik Destekleme Programı'nın etkililiğinin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın evrenini Türkiye'de yaşayan 2-9 yaş arası çocuğu olan ebeveynler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi ise amaçlı örneklem yöntemine göre seçilmiş 33 anne ve üç baba olmak üzere 36 ebeveynden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada ölçme aracı olarak Demografik Bilgi Formu (DBF), Çok Boyutlu Ebeveyn Mükemmeliyetçiliği Ölçeği (ÇBEMÖ), Ebeveyn-çocuk İlişkisi Ölçeği (EÇİO), Ebeveyn Olarak Ben Ölçeği (EOB) ve Alabama Çocuk Yetiştirme Anketi (AÇYA) kullanılmıştır. Araştırma analizlerinde SPSS 26.00 paket programı kullanılmış ve İlişkili Örneklem T-Testi, İlişkisiz Örneklem T-Testi ve Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (ANOVA) gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bütün boyutlar için deney grubu öntest sontest puanları anlamlı farklılaşmaktadır. Bu bulgu programın etkili bir uygulama olduğunu göstermektedir. Deney, plasebo ve kontrol grubu sontest puanlarına ilişkin karşılaştırmada ebeveyn mükemmeliyetçiliğine ilişkin 3 alt boyutta, ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisine dair tüm boyutlarda ve olumlu ebeveynlik puanında gruplar arası anlamlı fark tespit edilmiştir. Post Hoc analizleri tüm anlamlı farkların deney grubu lehine olduğunu göstermektedir. Çalışmanın deney grubunun ebeveyn mükemmeliyetçiliğine ilişkin tüm sontest puanlarında aynı grubun öntest puanlarına göre anlamlı fark görülmüştür. Ancak deney grubu ebeveyn mükemmeliyetçiliği sontest puanları kontrol grubu sontest puanları ile anlamlı farklılaşmamaktadır. Çalışmanın bulguları olumlu ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisi sontest puanlarının deney grubu öntest puanlarına ve kontrol grubu sontest puanlarına göre anlamlı farklılaştığını göstermektedir. Çalışmanın ilgili hipotezini doğrulayan bu bulgu programın ebeveyn-çocuk ilişkisini iyileştirmede etkili olduğunu göstermektedir. Olumlu ebeveynlik boyutuna ilişkin sontest puanları deney grubu öntest puanlarına ve kontrol grubu sontest puanlarına göre anlamlı farklılaşmaktadır. Bu bulgu çalışmanın hipotezini doğrulamakla birlikte çalışmanın amacında yer aldığı gibi olumlu ebeveynliği geliştirmede etkili bir uygulama olduğunu kanıtlamaktadır. Araştırmanın bulguları ilgili literatür ışığında tartışılmış ve öneriler sunulmuştur.The purpose of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Gestalt Oriented Positive Parenting Support Program, which was developed specifically for parents with children between the ages of 2 and 9 residing in Turkey. The study sample consisted of 36 parents (33 mothers and 3 fathers) who were selected through purposeful sampling. The research utilized various measurement tools, such as the Demographic Information Form (DIF), Multidimensional Parental Perfectionism Questionnaire (MPPQ), Parent-Child Relationship Scale (PCRS), Me as a Parent Scale (MPS), and Alabama Parenting Questionnaire (APQ). The SPSS 26.00 package program was used for data analysis, and the research involved Independent Sample T-Test, Paired Sample T-Test, and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The experimental group's pre-test and post-test scores showed significant differences for all dimensions, indicating that the program was an effective intervention. When comparing the experimental, placebo, and control group post-test scores, significant differences were found in three sub-dimensions of parental perfectionism, all dimensions of parent-child relationship, and positive parenting score. Further analysis revealed that all significant differences favored the experimental group. Moreover, the experimental group's post-test scores for parental perfectionism showed a significant difference compared to their pre-test scores. However, the post-test scores of the experimental group did not significantly differ from those of the control group. The results also showed that the post-test scores for positive parent-child relationship significantly differed according to the experimental group's pre-test scores and the control group's post-test scores. This finding supported the hypothesis of the study and demonstrated the effectiveness of the program in improving the parent-child relationship. Finally, the post-test scores of the positive parenting dimension also differed significantly according to the experimental group pre-test scores and the control group post-test scores, confirming the hypothesis of the study and highlighting the effectiveness of the program in developing positive parenting practices. The study's findings were discussed in the context of relevant literature, and recommendations were provided

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
