Humanism in the poetry of Mahmoud Hasan Ismail
No full textThis thesis sheds light on an important aspect in the poetry of the Egyptian poet Mahmoud Hasan Ismail, namely the humanitarian side which characterized his poetry over successive phases.Despite the fact that our poet was subject of several studies both in the present and in the past, none of these studies was dedicated to “humanism” which the researcher believes was a prominent characteristic of his poetry. This characteristic was present in different situations and scenes through the contents he presented reflecting a close connection to his very experience over more than four decades. Therefore, this study starts with a general introduction about Mahmoud Hasan Ismail and his creative experience. Chapter one will then address the meaning and ideological and philosophical roots of the term “humanism”. After that, the researcher discusses samples of poetry summarizing the major aspects of humanism in the modern Arab poetry. Chapter two focuses on this genre in Ismail’s poetry where he demonstrated his humanitarian feeling in a number of notions, particularly glorification of human and spiritual values. These values determine how human a human being is, and they set the ideals of human community where goodness, love, and virtue are dominant and evils and grudges are avoided.The second notion the poet demonstrated was supporting the marginalized peasants who represent, in his opinion, a major pillar of society and inseparable element of the nation as an entity in its struggle for independence and freedom. Ismail’s third notion was Pan-Arabism which he preached and defended as he believed it was a noble project at the Arab and Islamic level which should unite the Arab nation and close ranks to counter the hardships and challenges it faces. This leads us to the fourth notion, the question of Palestine and the necessity to support the Palestinian revolution just as other revolutions of peoples looking forward to gaining freedom. The fifth notion, where the poet demonstrates “humanism”, is alienation and its consequences which include yearning, pain, bewilderment, worry, rebelliousness, and anger amongst other feelings he experienced and as a result adopted several attitudes towards humans, life, the universe, and existence. In chapter three, the researcher reveals the major artistic components and methodological techniques which Mahmoud Hasan Ismail adopted to express ٚ his “humanism”. These included the poetic dictionary, poetic figure, symbol, semiotics in titles, intertextuality, and repetition which will be spotlighted in selected samples from his numerous works. In the conclusion, the researcher presents the major results he reached about the poet in terms of his subjects and methods as well as recommendations hoping to present a clear vision about “humanism” in the poetry of Mahmoud Hasan Ismail

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Salah satu animasi yang biasa digunakan yaitu animasi 2D.Daerah Lumajang memiliki tempat wisata yang indah yang selama ini masih belum maksimal dalam promosinya yaitu Piket Nol, Hutan Bambu, Pura Mandar Giri Semeru, B29 dan Ranu Pani. Pada tugas akhir ini,perancang ingin mengembangkan animasi 2D yang akan dijadikan sebagai media pengenalan lima tempat wisata di Kabupaten Lumajang. Perancangan media animasi ini dilakukan karena belum adanya media promosi yang dapat mempromosikan tempat wisata tersebut. Metode perancangan animasi 2D ini ada tiga yaitu pra-produksi, produksi dan pasca produksi. Pada pra-produksi perancang melakukan observasi dan dokumentasi terhadap lima tempat wisata yang akan dibuat animasi yaitu Piket Nol, Hutan Bambu, Pura Mandhara Giri Semeru, B29, dan Ranu Pani. Kemudian perancang mencari literature dan membuat storyboard. Pada proses produksi, perancang membuat modelling karakter dan background 2D. Selanjutnya melakukan proses animatingdan dubbing. Pada pasca produksi, perancang melakukan proses editing, rendering, dan packaging. Media pengenalan melalui animasi 2D ini berfungsi untuk membantu masyarakat dalam proses pengenalan lima tempat wisata di Kabupaten Lumajang, Dalam animasi 2D ini terdapat penggambaran tiga karakter yang unik, yaitu karakter pisang, kentang, dan brokoli. Karena Selain itu Penggambaran animasi dari setiap tempat wisata yang akan diperkenalkan untuk menunjukkan keindahan tempat wisata dan mengajak para wisatawan untuk berkunjung kesini.Perancangan ini di kemas dalam cerita pendek animasi 2D tentang pengenalan kelima tempat wisata di lumajang yaitu Piket Nol, Hutan Bambu, Pura Mandara Giri, B29 dan Ranu Pani. Perancangan animasi 2D ini menghasilkan suatu media pengenalan tempat wisata yang menarik dan mampu menarik perhatian para wisatawan luar Lumajang. Bentuk animasi 2D yang dihasilkan berupa video animasi pendek yang berdurasi 5 menit dengan format mp4 dan dimensi (1280 x 720 pxl). Pada video ini terdapat lima tempat wisata yaitu Piket nol, Hutan Bambu, Pura Mandhara Giri semeru, B29, dan Ranupani yang divisualisasikna dalam 2D. Melalui video ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan wisatawan luar Lumajang yang berkunjung ke lima lokasi wisata di kabupaten Lumajang.
