L.K. Hall Correspondance to Harold Lynch
A letter from Lawrence K. Hall to Harold "Hal" Lynch, editor of the Bulletin, Springfield College's alumni newsletter.In 1964, Hall, a gifted writer, wrote "Doggett of Springfield," a biography about Springfield College's first full-time and longest tenured president, Laurence Doggett. This letter talks about how he used all funds from the sale of this book to support a scholarship fund for Springfield College Students coming from abroad. L.K. Hall joined the faculty at the International YMCA College (now Springfield College) in 1928 where he stayed for 15 years as the director of Boys’ Work Studies and later, the director of the Social Science Department.
Hall left Springfield College to become the interim editor of Association Press, the publishing enterprise of the National Council of YMCAs. He remained in this position for nine years until his retirement in 1952. In retirement, he served as the first director of the Association of Secretaries (today’s Association of YMCA Professionals) until 1957, and was also a visiting professor at George Williams College
