    AbstractLearning difficulty is a condition where students cannot learn properly due to certain obstacles or disturbances in the learning process so that students cannot achieve expected learning outcomes, and students' difficulties in solving story problems in this study are conditions that indicate there are irregularities committed by students in solving story problems around the square and rectangle. The difficulty of students in this study is related to difficulties in using concepts and principles. This study aims to describe students' difficulties in solving story problems in square and rectangular material. The method used in this study is descriptive method with the form of case study research. The research subjects consisted of 20 students of class VII MTs Sirajul Ulum Pontianak. The research data shows that there are still many students who experience difficulties in concepts and principles on square and rectangle so that many students experience difficulties and confusion on how to solve story problems around the rectangle and there are still many students who misread the circumference formula on the rectangle should be 2 ( p + l) not 2 (p + L) or 2 (px L) Keyword: Difficulties in Concepts and Principles in Problem Stor

    AbstractThe facts show that students' understanding of the concept of absolute value is still in low classified. The lack of understanding of student concepts is influenced by several factors, one of which is lack of student confidence in working on problems. self confidence is one part of student learning independence. Therefore this study aims to describe the understanding of the concept of the absolute value equation in terms of student learning independence. The research method used is descriptive qualitative in the form of case studies. Subjects were thirty-eight students in SMA Negeri 2 Pontianak. The results of this study indicate that students' understanding of concepts is balanced with learning independence. students who have a high level of learning independence overall the results of the concept understanding test are also high. students who have a level of independence of learning while overall the results of the test understanding of the concept are also being. students who have low levels of learning independence overall the results of the concept understanding test are also low.     Abstract This research described about students' mathematical problem solving abilities in terms of students' self-concept. This research was conducted at Madrasah Stanawiyah Negeri 3 Mempawah. The method used in this research was descriptive research method with survey research form. The research subjects were students of class VIII who had learned comparative material. The object of the research was the eighth grade students who have high, medium and low problem solving abilities, amounting to 9 students based on the results of the considerations conveyed by the mathematics subject teacher at the school. The results obtained in this study were that almost all students were able to understand the problem, while the stages of problem planning, carrying out problem planning and checking back were still not fulfilled.     AbstractThe research aims to determine and describe students’ mathematical connectionabilities in terms of self confidence at equation of straight line in class VIII SMP Negeri8 Pontianak. The research method used is descriptive. The results showed that students’mathematical connection abilities with a high level of self confidence obtained anachievement percentage score for the three indicators of 80% in the high category,while for students’ mathematical connection abilities with a low level of self confidenceobtained an achievement percentage score for the three indicators of 27% in thecategory very low. Based on the level of self confidence, students who have high selfconfidence tend to have high mathematical connection abilities and students who havelow self confidence tend to have low mathematical connection abilities.                              AbstractIn this research, Misconception is an inaccurate definition or comprehension about a concept and the use of a concept that is not in accordance with the concept that has been negotiated scientifically by an expert from that field, also an inability to associate the initial concept with the next one correctly in linear inequality of one variable. The purpose of this research is to discover student’s misconceptions in the linear inequality of one variable and the cause of it in grade X SMK-SMTI Pontianak. The tools used to detecting student’s misconceptions in this subject are four-tier diagnostic tests while the form of the research is a case study with a descriptive method. The techniques to gather the data in this research are test (written test) and non-test (interview). The result from misconception description analysis that has been done by students found that misconception happened in translation, concept, systematic, and calculation. Based on the form of the misconception that students have, the most is a misconception in the concept. The causes of student’s misconceptions are preconception or an initial concept, student’s associative thinking, incorrect reasoning, inaccurate intuition, student’s capability and the lack of students' interest in learning.     AbstractThis research aimed to know the application in learning using Booklet media on arithmethic operation of algebra in junior high school. The method of this research was experiment and the research design was pre-experiment with one shoot case study. The subject of this research were 34 students of grade 7th A in SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak. The result of this research found that the application in learning using Booklet media on arithmethic operation of algebra in 7th A of SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak was effective in both result posttest and student’s activity. Based on the result of posttest, there were 27 students (82%) that had score more than or equal to 60 points and only 7 students (18%) had score below than 60 points. Based on result of student’s activity, the application in learning using Booklet media on arithmethic operation of algebra in 7th A of SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak  was successful to made students learn actively in class, there were 75% students that learn actively in first day and increased to 90% students in second day. Keywords: Intructional media, Booklet, Arithmetic operation in Algebr

    AbstractThis reseach aims to find out the description of students' mathematical representation abilities from symbolic to visual and visual to symbolic relation material and function in class VIII of SMP Kemala Bhayangkari Kubu Raya. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data was collected using tests, interviews and documentation. The subjects in this study were eighth grade students of SMP Kemala Bhayangkari Kubu Raya . The test results show the ability of mathematical representation of students from symbolic to visual material relations and functions are at a low criterion where students are able to understand the questions presented with symbolic shapes and pictures made of information the coordinates of the coordinates are still incomplete and unclear. The test results show the ability of students' mathematical representation from visual to symbolic relation material and function are at high criteria.     AbstractThis research aims to determine and describe the translation ability of students' mathematical representations in the material of adding fractions in class VII SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak. The subjects of this study were 27 grade VII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak. The method used in this research is descriptive method with a survey form. The techniques used in this research are measurement techniques through written tests in the form of essays and direct communication techniques through interviews. Based on the results of data analysis, the translation ability of students' mathematical representations is included in the medium category. The ability to translate students 'representations from verbal to symbolic forms is in the high and very high category and vice versa, the translational ability of students' representations from symbolic to verbal forms is in the low, medium and high categories.     Abstract This research aimed to describe the improvement of understanding on scientific concepts and performance students of class X MA. Mathala'ul Anwar Pontianak school year 2016/2017 through the application of cooperative learning model of type Numbered Heads Together (NHT). This study is a qualitative descriptive Study conducted in MA. Mathala'ul Anwar Pontianak with 17 respondents. Data collection methods used are observation, interviews and tests. Study results: based on the percentage Score student performance at the first meeting it can be seen that the average student activity for each category that is visual of 86.27% (very active), oral of 58.82% (medium), heard of 88.23% ( Very active), and write of 100% (very active). At a meeting of the two can be seen that the average student activity for each category that is visual of 92.15% (very active), oral of 67.64% (active), heard of 100% (very active), and write of 100% (very active). Based on student test results, note that overall the students reach the learning k completeness  of 17 students and 2 students who complete and 3 students are not to your satisfaction. General conclusions derived from this study was the use of cooperative learning model of type Numbered Heads Together (NHT) can improve the performance of students and scientific understanding scientific concepts in the material for students of class X MA.     AbstractThis research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of applying realistic based STAD type cooperative learning models on SPLTV material in Class X IPS SMA Negeri 2 Kuala Mandor B. The type of research used in this study was Pre-Experimental Design. The design in this study is the One Shot Case Study. Based on the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that realistic based STAD type cooperative learning is not effectively applied to the SPLTV material in class X IPS SMA Negeri 2 Kuala Mandor B, this is because there is one indicator not met. The results of each effectiveness indicator namely the process of STAD type cooperative learning activities based on realistic in Class X IPS SMA Negeri 2 Kuala Mandor B lies in very good criteria that is equal to 3.69; student learning activities lie in the active criteria that is equal to 74%; student response lies in the very good criteria that is equal to 87.2%; and student learning outcomes obtained that classical student mastery learning is not achieved, namely only 56% of students who reach the minimum completeness value.Keywords: STAD, Cooperative Learning Model, Realisti
