Intellectual Capital Performance and Profitability of Banks: Evidence from Pakistan

    No full text
The study contributes to the existing literature on intellectual capital (IC) performance and profitability by extending evidence from Pakistan. The study examines the impact of IC performance on the profitability of Pakistani financial institutions. It further examines how corporate governance, bank specific, industry specific, and country specific indicators effect Pakistani banks’ profitability. The result reports both the linear and non-linear impact of IC performance on profitability, which affirms an inverted U–shaped relationship. Among the three value added intellectual coefficient (VAIC) components, capital employed efficiency (CEE), and human capital efficiency (HCE) are found to have a significantly positive and structural capital efficiency (SCE) is found to have a significantly negative impact on bank profitability. The study notes a positive impact on profitability of factors like board independence, directors’ compensation, and higher capitalization. It reports a negative impact on profitability of factors like board size, board meetings, credit risk, industry concentration and economic growth. The results also indicate low profitability of banks during the period of government transition. The study provides insights into the important profitability drives and suggests that the impact of investment in IC on profitability is limited to an extent. The findings of this study are likely to be useful for policy makers, management, and academics

Wasathiyah is a middle position that makes people impartial to the left and right, thing that can lead humans to be fair. Misunderstandings about Islam greatly increased in this era of globalization. This mistake in understanding Islam caused the Islamic ummah to be extreme left and extreme right. In the field of education there are many over-attitude problems that adversely affect the teacher and his students, such as the teacher joking excessively with his students, jokingly triggering the teacher to react and kick each other, the parents rage to the new student admission committee because they protested asking for justice for the acceptance of new students. Events like this are things that must be resolved, especially for the world of Islamic education so that errors in understanding Islam can be anticipated and understood by all generations of Indonesian Muslims. So the authors are interested in raising the title of the study of the values of Islamic wasathiyah education in the qur'an surah al-baqarah verse 143 according to Muhammad Quraish Shihab. The author describe what are the values of Islamic wasathiyah education according to Muhammad Quraish Shihab. The purpose of this study is to find out how the values of wasathiyah Islamic education according to Muhammad Quraish Shihab. The type of research is library research. Data analysis techniques in this study, namely: data reduction, data model, drawing conclusions, values of Islamic wasathiyah education in surah al-baqarah verse 143 according to Muhammad Quraish Shihab is behaving tawassuth (seeking middle ground), tawazun (balanced), exemplary and fair

The human society consists of two main pillars; male and female. Islam balanced mankind by addressing the issue of a female in a society and showed her duties and role in a society. The most happy Muslim family is the family which takes care of its children and raise them according to good morals. Raising a baby regardless of her sex is very important but raising a female baby needs some highest level of attention. Marriage is one of the very important event in Muslim society which is Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Islam gave much importance to marriage as well because its foundation of a family. Raising a female member of a family is a responsibility given by Islam to every parent. In view of this topic I have decided to write about Prophet PBUH methodology about raising a female child. Descriptive and Applied method is used in this Article. Keywords: Human Society, Muslim Family, Responsibility, Female baby, Parent

How to build a nation? This debate among the Muslims of the subcontinent arose during the colonial period, Allama Iqbal was of Muslim nationality while Abul Kalam Azad, Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar and Syed Hussain Ahmed Madani were of separate nationalist. Everyone had their own arguments, the goal was that Muslims benefit from gathering under the flag of Muslim nationality or struggling with the platform of united nationality. How can the religious and economic interests of the Muslims of the subcontinent be protected? Maulana Syed Hussain Ahmed Madani was the pioneer of pro-United Nationalists scholars. Maulana Hussain Ahmed Madani, while addressing a gathering in Sadar Bazar, Delhi in 1938, said," "In today's time, nations are formed by blood, not by race or religion. The inhabitants of England are considered a nation However, there are also Jews and Christians.” Allama advocated the unity of Hindus and Muslims but was opposed to a united Indian nationhood. Compared to Allama, Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar who established Jamia Millia, Maulana Azad and Syed Hussain Ahmed Madani were powerful voices regarding united Hindi nationalism. "Maulana Azad, in his address as Congress president in 1940, said," "The common life of our millennials has moulded a united nation." Whether we like it or not, we have now become an Indian nation. The article will present a comparative analysis of Allama's concept of nationhood and the views of Maulana Azad, Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar and Syed Hussain Ahmed Madani

It reveals four mechanisms through which BDAMC influences sustainability. Unlike previous studies, this research focuses on the order of capability development, offering new insights into datadriven transformation and dynamic capabilities

A Modified Energy Detection Based Spectrum Sensing Algorithm for Green Cognitive Radio Communication

    No full text
Spectrum Sensing is the first and fundamental function of Cognitive Cycle which plays a vital role in the success of CRs (Cognitive Radios). Spectrum Sensing indicate the presence and absence of PUs (Primary Users) in RF (Radio Frequency) spectrum occupancy measurements. In order to correctly determine the presence and absence of Primary Users, the algorithms in practice include complex mathematics which increases the computational complexity of the algorithm, thus shifted the CRs to operate as ?green? communication systems. In this paper, an energy efficient and computationally less complex, energy detection based Spectrum Sensing algorithm have been proposed. The design goals of the proposed algorithm are to save the processing and sensing energies. At first, by using less MAC (Multiply and Accumulate) operation, it saves the processing energy needed to determine the presence and absence of PUs. Secondly, it saves the sensing energy by providing a way to find lowest possible sensing time at which spectrum is to be sensed. Two scenarios have been defined for testing the proposed algorithm i.e. simulate detection capability of Primary Users in ideal and noisy scenarios. Detection of PUs in both of these scenarios have been compared to obtain the probability of detection. Energy Efficiency of the proposed algorithm has been proved by making performance comparison between the proposed (less complex) algorithm and the legacy energy detection algorithm. With reduced complexity, the proposed spectrum sensing algorithm can be considered under the paradigm of Green Cognitive Radio Communicatio
