    Neste livro, Vitor Paro questiona as políticas educacionais fundamentadas na gestão empresarial capitalista, cuja finalidade é radicalmente distinta da educação. Na produção capitalista, a eficiência na administração tem como propósito a lucratividade da empresa, sendo o principal interesse do trabalhador receber seu salário. Na educação, a administração é mediadora da atividade educativa e o educador não pode ensinar apenas orientado pelo seu salário, sendo necessário considerar o caráter político da relação entre sujeitos para produção do ser humano-histórico. Partindo desse pressuposto, o autor analisa o papel do diretor e do significado da direção escolar, apontando alternativas de administração da escola básica, transcendendo a forma usual de concentrá-la nas mãos de apenas um indivíduo.Palavras-chave: Diretor escolar. Escola Básica. Abstract: In this book, Vitor Paro questions the educational policies based on capitalist business management whose end is radically distinct from that of education. In capitalist production, efficiency in management aims at corporate profitability, and workers’ main interest is to get monthly paid. In education, management mediates the educational activity, and educators cannot teach exclusively oriented by their wages. It is therefore necessary to take into account the political dimension of the relation among the players in order to produce the historical human being. Based on this assumption, the author analyses the role of the school principal and the significance of school management, as well as he offers transcending alternatives to the basic school management centralized in the hands of a single individual. Keywords: School management.     Técnica e política na obra de Vitor Marinho: uma análise teórico-epistemológica

    The productions of the Intellectuals of Physical Education help to understand the different ways of thinking about, as well as the conceptions present in the area throughout history. The study of these productions is also important to understand a little more about these intellectuals, such as the vision of man and world present in their works. In the 1980s, Brazil was undergoing a process of re-signification and struggle for democracy. This scenario has expanded in several areas of society, also permeating Physical Education. One of the intellectuals responsible for introducing critical thinking in the area was Vitor Marinho, who, together with other intellectuals, promoted the breakdown of some paradigms linked to the biologicist and militaristic conception of Physical Education. Vitor Marinho understands the need of teaching the technique in class, but without the teacher leaving the political foundation of his practice. Based on the conception of this intellectual, the present study has as a problem situation to understand the role of technique and politics in the texts of Vitor Marinho. The objective is to analyze the work of the intellectual from the theoreticalepistemological point of view. In order to subsidize the analysis of the study we appropriate the theoretical framework of critical and Marxist cut. The treatment of the data is qualitative. The data regarding the political conception of Vitor Marinho are based on the concept of politics and intellectual of Antonio Gramsci. Already the technique and its questions were thought in the light of Alvaro Vieira Pinto. The epistemological analysis of Vitor Marinho's work allowed us to verify the rupture of the phenomenological philosophical current of thought for historical-dialectical materialism. From this rupture, we compare how technique and politics are manifested in Vitor's work, in addition to other elements such as the conception of man, world and teaching. It was verified that: 1) the theoretical-epistemological change is essential to understand how the technique and the politics are manifested 11 in the work of Vitor Marinho; 2) the technique and the politics in the author's thought approach the conception of polytechnics; 3) Vitor's technical-pedagogical conception does not change with the change of epistemological referential, what changes is the social role that it assumes; 4) from the Marxist perspective, the debate on political issues goes deeper as the debate on technique diminishes; 5) Humanism permeates the entire work of Vitor Marinho, regardless of the theoretical-epistemological moment in which the author finds himself.As produções dos intelectuais da Educação Física ajudam a compreender as diferentes maneiras de pensá-la, bem como as concepções presentes na área ao longo da história. O estudo dessas produções também é importante para entender um pouco mais sobre esses intelectuais, como a visão de homem e mundo presente em suas obras. Na década de 1980, o Brasil passava por um processo de ressignificações e de luta pela democracia. Esse cenário se expandiu por diversas áreas da sociedade, permeando também a Educação Física. Um dos intelectuais responsáveis por introduzir o pensamento crítico na área foi Vitor Marinho que, junto a outros intelectuais, promoveu a quebra de alguns paradigmas atrelados a concepção biologicista e militarista da Educação Física. Vitor Marinho compreende a necessidade do ensino da técnica nas aulas, mas sem que o professor deixe a fundamentação política de sua prática. Partindo da concepção desse intelectual, o presente estudo tem como situação-problema compreender qual é o papel da técnica e da política nos textos de Vitor Marinho. O objetivo é analisar a obra do intelectual sob o prisma teórico-epistemológico. Para subsidiar a análise do estudo nos apropriamos do referencial teórico de recorte crítico e marxista. O tratamento dos dados é de caráter qualitativo. Os dados referentes à concepção política de Vitor Marinho são embasados no conceito de política e de intelectual de Antonio Gramsci. Já a técnica e suas questões foram pensadas à luz de Álvaro Vieira Pinto. A análise epistemológica da obra de Vitor Marinho nos permitiu verificar a ruptura da corrente filosófica fenomenológica de pensamento para o materialismo histórico-dialético. A partir dessa ruptura, comparamos como a técnica e a política se manifestam na obra de Vitor, além de outros elementos como a concepção de homem, de mundo e de ensino. Verificou-se que: 1) a mudança teórico-epistemológica é essencial para compreender como a técnica e a política se manifestam na obra de Vitor Marinho; 2) a técnica e a política no pensamento do autor se aproximam da concepção de 9 politecnia; 3) a concepção técnico-pedagógica de Vitor não muda com a mudança de referencial epistemológico, o que muda é o papel social que ela assume; 4) na perspectiva marxista, o debate sobre as questões políticas se aprofundam a medida que o debate sobre a técnica diminui; 5) o humanismo permeia toda a obra de Vitor Marinho, independente do momento teórico-epistemológico em que o autor se encontra

    Relativizando as identidades: Vitor Ramil e a estética do frio

    This article presents the questions raised in the essay A estética do frio (The aesthetics of the cold) (2004), written and published by the musician and composer from Rio Grande do Sul, Vitor Ramil. In the essay, the author exposes some cultural differences existing in Brazil, showing that southern cultural production has more affinity with neighboring countries, Uruguay and Argentina, than with other Brazilian regions. For Ramil, this happens due a symbolic division of the country between hot Brazil and cold Brazil, in which cultural products that are not related to the representation of a warm and tropical aesthetic tend to be restricted to regional consumption. In parallel, throughout the text, we seek to analyze how this cold aesthetic defended by Ramil is dependent of the hot aesthetic to exist as a cultural representation. Although there are divergences and contrasts (of climate, landscape, territory, identity), this apparent antagonism is complementary regarding of the construction of artistic identity for the pampas musicians, functioning as a game of mirrors among the actors involved.Este artigo apresenta os questionamentos levantados no ensaio A estética do frio (2004), escrito e publicado pelo músico e compositor gaúcho Vitor Ramil. No ensaio, o autor expõe algumas diferenças culturais existentes no Brasil, mostrando que a produção cultural sulista tem mais afinidade com os países vizinhos, Uruguai e Argentina, do que com as demais regiões brasileiras. Para Ramil, isso ocorre devido a uma divisão simbólica do país entre Brasil quente e Brasil frio, na qual os produtos culturais que fogem da representação de uma estética quente e tropical, tendem a ficar restritos ao consumo regional. Em paralelo, no decorrer do texto, buscamos analisar como essa estética fria defendida por Ramil é dependente da estética quente para existir enquanto representação cultural. Ainda que havendo divergências e contrastes (de clima, paisagem, território, identidade), esse aparente antagonismo é complementar no que se refere à construção de identidade artística para os músicos dos pampas, funcionando como um jogo de espelhos entre os atores envolvidos.

    Este trabalho tem por objetivo analisar a trajetória do personagem Selbor, protagonista do romance Satolep, de Vitor Ramil. Nessa intenção, será explorada a construção identitária de Selbor visando ao pertencimento nos locais que atravessa antes de chegar à Satolep, bem como seus movimentos dentro da cidade ficcional. Inicialmente, busca-se investigar sua migrância pelas cidades do norte, em que o personagem é um deslocado; em seguida, faz-se um estudo sobre o retorno do protagonista à cidade de origem no encalço de sua identidade. Para tanto, serão utilizados alguns teóricos como Pierre Ouellet, Janet Paterson, Julia Kristeva e Zygmunt Bauman.This work intents to analyze the trajectory of the character Selbor, protagonist of the Novel Satolep, from the author Vitor Ramil. With this intention, it will be explored the identity construction of Selbor aiming the sense of belonging in the places he pass before returning to Satolep, such as his movements inside the fictional city. Firstly, it is sought to investigate its migration by the cities of the north, in which the personage is a displaced person; afterward, a study is made on the return of the protagonist to the city of origin in the pursuit of his identity. To do so, we will use some theories such as Pierre Ouellet, Janet Paterson, Julia Kristeva and Zygmunt Bauman

    Thesis advisor: Stefan HoderleinThis dissertation is divided into two parts. Part I - Dynamic Kidney Exchange In recent years, kidney paired donation (KPD) has an emerged as an attractive alternative for end-stage renal disease patients with incompatible living donors. However, we argue that the matching algorithm currently used by organ clearinghouses is inefficient, in the sense that a larger number of patients may be reached if kidney transplant centers take into consideration how their pool of patients and donors will evolve over time. In our work Two Novel Algorithms for Dynamic Kidney Exchange, we explore this claim and propose new computational algorithms to increase the cardinality of matchings in a discrete-time dynamic kidney exchange model with Poisson entries and Geometric deaths. Our algorithms are classified into direct prediction methods and multi-armed bandit methods. In the direct prediction method, we use machine learning estimator to produce a probability that each patient-donor pair should be matched today, as op- posed to being left for a future matching. The estimators are trained on offline optimal solutions. In contrast, in multi-armed bandit methods, we use simulations to evaluate the desirability of different matchings. Since the amount of different matchings is enormous, multi-armed bandits (MAB) are employed to decrease order to decrease the computational burden. Our methods are evaluated using simulations in a variety of simulation configurations. We find that the performance of at least one of our methods, based on multi-armed bandit algorithms, is able to uniformly dominate the myopic method that is used by kidney transplants in practice. We restrict our experiments to pairwise kidney exchange, but the methods described here are easily extensible, computational constraints permitting. Part II - Econometrics In our econometric paper Heterogenous Production Functions, Panel Data, and Productivity, we present methods for identification of moments and nonparametric marginal distributions of endogenous random coefficient models in fixed-T linear panel data models. Our identification strategy is constructive, immediately leading to relatively simple estimators that can be shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal. Because our strategy makes use of special properties of “small” (measure-zero) subpopulations, our estimators are irregularly identified: they can be shown to be consistent and asymptotically Normal, but converge at rates slower than root-n. We provide an illustration of our methods by estimating first and second moments of random Cobb-Douglas coefficients in production functions, using Indian plant-level microdata.Thesis (PhD) — Boston College, 2018.Submitted to: Boston College.     Software platform product management in corporate IT: framework enhancement and evaluation

    Digital transformation has permeated various aspects of our lives, revolutionizing how we access music, reconnect with old friends, and engage in instant payments. Within this transformative landscape, the ability of technology companies to connect with customer needs by effectively managing products has emerged as a critical capability. A customer-centric approach has gained even more significance as successful business models shift towards "owning the consumer." Consequently, corporate IT organizations have adopted product management practices, with an estimated 70% penetration projected for 2024. Adopting product management in IT organizations typically involves managing software directly supporting business operations and internal software platforms. The latter serves as a foundation for building the former, and its adoption can enhance agility, efficiency, and value creation through reuse and specialization. However, managing software platforms as products presents challenges in identifying opportunities, evaluating them, and ensuring ongoing relevance. This research focuses on the gaps in product planning in managing software platforms as a product in corporate IT organizations. By employing Design Science Research (DSR), a method commonly used in information science in which the research paradigm focuses on developing and validating prescriptive knowledge, an interpretive-constructivist perspective study aims to advance theoretical understanding while providing practical contributions. The research evaluated one existing software product management framework through interviews with software platform managers, proposed modifications, and assessed the progress made with the changes. The theoretical contributions lie in enhancing the understanding of IT organizations' software product management through prescriptive knowledge. In contrast, practical contributions are materialized by a context-aware framework proposal that can offer valuable insights for professionals in the study context and its organizations. Additionally, the project's research approach contributes to the broader field of Design Science Research by bringing a unique perspective for taking multi-stage DSR research; this one focused solely on evaluation and improvement cycles and a research method to evaluate two artifacts simultaneously. The timing of these contributions makes it particularly relevant given the projected increase in product management practices adoption and software platforms as an IT strategic option to create a competitive advantage in its organizations. Additionally, this research details specific challenges and nuances of managing software platforms as products, including topics and study suggestions for future research endeavors

    Um diálogo teórico-metodológico sobre a técnica no pensamento de Vitor Marinho

    The years of 1980 were important for Physical Education, because the renewing thought was disseminated and the sociocultural perspective emerged. In this period, there were criticisms in the light of the Human and Social Sciences to the positivist paradigms (like technicalism) in the productions of the time. Thus, the present study aimed to identify the conception of the technique in the sociocultural perspective through the analysis of the work of Vitor Marinho, one of the intellectuals responsible for the diffusion of the renovating movement. For that, three texts published by the author in the 80s were analyzed, evidencing the explicit and implicit elements about the technique and its questions. The data were treated qualitatively, based on the theoretical reference of Álvaro Vieira Pinto. The results pointed out that the change of theoretical-epistemological referential that occurred with the renewing thought promoted contributions to think the technique in a critical and humanistic perspective, albeit imperfectly in relation to the here chosen theoretical framework.Los años de 1980 fueron importantes para la Educación Física, pues se diseminó el pensamiento renovador y surgió la perspectiva sociocultural. En ese período, hubo críticas a la luz de las Ciencias Humanas y Sociales a los paradigmas positivistas (como el tecnicismo) en las producciones de la época. De esta forma, el presente estudio tuvo por objetivo identificar la concepción de la técnica en la perspectiva sociocultural por medio del análisis de la obra de Vitor Marinho, uno de los intelectuales responsables de la difusión del movimiento renovador. Para ello, fueron analizados tres textos publicados por el autor en la década de 80, evidenciando los elementos explícitos e implícitos sobre la técnica y sus cuestiones. Los datos fueron tratados cualitativamente, basados en el referencial teórico de Álvaro Vieira Pinto. Los resultados apuntaron que el cambio de referencial teórico-epistemológico que ocurrió con el pensamiento renovador promovió contribuciones para pensar la técnica desde una perspectiva crítica y humanista, aunque de forma imperfecta respecto al referencial teórico escogidoOs anos de 1980 foram marcantes para a Educação Física, pois disseminou-se o pensamento renovador e surgiu a perspectiva sociocultural.     O lugar da via mística de Hugo de São Vitor na tradição filosófica como exercício espiritual

    The objective of this research was to rebuild the unity of the thought from the philosopher and mistic theologian Hugh of Saint Victor (1096-1141) and understand it by the light of the philosophic tradition that he is settled. The proposition of a synthesis between philosophy and speculative mystic is assumed from the own pedagogic motivation of the author. He inserts the postulant on the knowledge that integrates the science and liberal arts in a preparatory way of spiritual ascesis. For the study of this Project, that incorporates metaphysical dimensions, ethical and aesthetical, we seek by the status quaestiones a wider insertion for the analysis of this tradition that we identify as perennial and centralized on the christian platonism. Therefore the study treats the transformations of the platonism in the beginning of the second millennium and the role of Hugh and the School of Saint Vitor on this setting. The primary sources that we visited and interpreted was, specialy, the Arca Noe Morali; De Institutione Novitiorum Liber; De Sacramentis Christianae Fidei; De Unione Corporis Et Spiritus; De Vanitate Mundi Et Rerum Transeuntium Usu Libri Quatuo; Eruditionis Didascalicae Libri Septem; and the Soliloquium De Arrha Animae. Through them we verified that the author seeks to establish progressive degrees in the knowledge of God, by the practices and exercises (memoria, meditatio, moralia) that aim the ‘’re-form’’ of the soul by the knowledge and virtues. We emphasized on the ascension to God as a high point of his philosophical search, by privileging the investigation about the soul and Augustinian psychology marked by self-consciousness and by the self-knowledge. We verified the conciliation between ‘’heart and mind’’ that elevated him to the universality of a medieval humanism. We demonstrate how the victorin program reflects ‘’the architectural image of the gothic” on direction to the synthesis and unification. Hugh of St. Victor establishes the man as an intermediary between two plans, conceives a special place to the soul, the reason and the intelligence. The contemplation of the truth requires intellectual effort until the demonstration of the inner and immaterial man par excellence. His mystic way based on thought, meditation and contemplation, consequently, has its value for the philosophic researchO objetivo desta pesquisa foi reconstruir a unidade do pensamento do filósofo e teólogo místico Hugo de São Vitor (1096-1141) e compreendê-lo à luz da tradição filosófica que ele se coloca. A proposição de uma síntese entre filosofia e mística especulativa é assumida a partir da própria motivação pedagógica do autor. Ele insere o postulante nos saberes que integram as ciências e as artes liberais em uma via preparatória de ascensão espiritual. Para estudo deste projeto, que engloba dimensões metafísicas, éticas e estéticas, buscamos no status quaestiones uma inserção mais ampla para análise dessa tradição que identificamos como perene e centralizada no platonismo cristão. O estudo trata, então, das transformações do Platonismo no começo do segundo milênio e o papel de Hugo e da Escola de São Vitor nesse ambiente. As fontes primárias que visitamos e interpretamos foram em especial o De Arca Noe Morali; De Institutione Novitiorum Liber; De Sacramentis Christianae Fidei; De Unione Corporis Et Spiritus; De Vanitate Mundi Et Rerum Transeuntium Usu Libri Quatuo; Eruditionis Didascalicae Libri Septem; e o Soliloquium De Arrha Animae. A partir delas verificamos que o autor busca estabelecer graus progressivos para o conhecimento de Deus, a partir de práticas ou exercícios (memoria, meditatio, moralia) que objetivam a “re-forma” da alma pelo conhecimento e pelas virtudes. Demos ênfase na ascensão para Deus como ponto alto de sua busca filosófica, privilegiando a investigação sobre a alma e a psicologia agostiniana marcada pela autoconsciência e pelo conhecimento de si mesmo. Verificamos a conciliação entre “coração e mente” que o elevou a universalidade de um humanismo medieval. Demonstramos como o programa vitorino reflete a “imagem arquitetônica do gótico” em direção à síntese e à unificação. Hugo de São Vitor estabelece o homem como intermediário entre dois planos, concebe especial lugar à alma, à razão e à inteligência. A contemplação da verdade requer esforço intelectual até a demonstração do homem interior e imaterial por excelência. Sua via mística baseada no pensamento, na meditação e na contemplação, desse modo, tem seu valor para a pesquisa filosófica
