    Souvenir purchase patterns of domestic tourists: case study of Takayama City, Japan

    Plan BThe purpose of this study is to identify souvenir purchase patterns of domestic Japanese tourists, focusing on HidaTakayama (Japan), a famous destination. The study site covers about 139.57 hectares with a population of 66,377. According to its tourist information center, in 1999, the city attracted 2,967,000 tourists. Nested among the mountains of Hida and in the past isolated during winter, Takayama has preserved much of its historic charm. It has been called a “little Kyoto” and is set deep within mountains of Gifu Prefecture. Its temples, shrines, festivals, rivers and bridges are indeed reminiscent of Kyoto on a smaller scale, but in some ways Takayama has delights that even Kyoto cannot match. The survey findings, revealing souvenir shopping patterns of tourists visiting Takayama City, suggest that their purchases are influenced by many factors, including prices, weight, size, number, length of shopping time, forms of travel, family income level, and reasons for purchasing. Further analyses suggest what types of souvenirs are favored by tourists and why. These findings potentially assist in improving souvenir production, methods of display at stores, tourist satisfaction, and income earnings of producers and store operators, a process which would contribute to the socioeconomic well-being and prosperity of the host community. Since purchasing souvenirs is also an indispensable tourism experience for both Japanese and foreign tourists, the study contributes to this research theme, with applications for destinations in Japan and elsewhere.     Ontology driven certification of pressure equipments

    Standards and engineering codes rule design, construction and operation of chemical plant equipments to ensure reliability and safety. In this paper, we exploit knowledge-based methodologies and technologies to guarantee safety rules compliance of pressure equipments. Specifically, we describe a knowledge-based tool defined on top of a knowledge-based CAD system, which can serve inspection bodies, i.e., for certification purposes, and pressure equipment designers for the verification of the appropriate safety normative (i.e., the Pressure Equipment Directive). The paper focuses on the knowledge base of the tool, which has been formalized through the PED&I (Pressure Equipment Design and Inspection) Ontology. The ontology has been enriched by logical axioms, which ensure the consistency of the knowledge base, and by reasoning rules, which enable to infer new relationships among the class instances stored in the ontology.Science Foundation Ireland; Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering & Technolog

TRUNCAL VAGOTOMY AND PYLOROPLASTY DELAYED THE ONSET AND DECREASED THE EXTENT OF GALLBLADDER EMPTYING AS COMPARED TO CONTROL, DU, HSV AND BILLROTH I GROUPS. ANTIULCER OPERATIONS INCLUDING THE DUODENUM (TV-P, BILLROTH II, AND ROUXEN Y) FURTHER REDUCED THE EXTENT OF GALLBLADDER EMPTYING. IN ADDITION BOTH GROUPS OF OPERATIONS SIGNIFICANTLY CHANGEDTHE PATTERN OF GALLBLADDER EMPTYING.     The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11139-016-9824-yThis article is devoted to the elliptic Stark conjecture formulated by Darmon (Forum Math Pi 3:e8, 2015), which proposes a formula for the transcendental part of a p-adic avatar of the leading term at s=1 of the Hasse–Weil–Artin L-series L(E,¿1¿¿2,s) of an elliptic curve E/Q twisted by the tensor product ¿1¿¿2 of two odd 2-dimensional Artin representations, when the order of vanishing is two. The main ingredient of this formula is a 2×2 p-adic regulator involving the p-adic formal group logarithm of suitable Stark points on E. This conjecture was proved by Darmon (Forum Math Pi 3:e8, 2015) in the setting where ¿1 and ¿2 are induced from characters of the same imaginary quadratic field K. In this note, we prove a refinement of this result that was discovered experimentally by Darmon (Forum Math Pi 3:e8, 2015, [Remark 3.4]) in a few examples. Namely, we are able to determine the algebraic constant up to which the main theorem of Darmon (Forum Math Pi 3:e8, 2015) holds in a particular setting where the Hida–Rankin p-adic L-function associated to a pair of Hida families can be exploited to provide an alternative proof of the same result.     The so-called Lindblad equation, a typical master equation describing the dissipative quantum dynamics, is shown to be solvable for finite-level systems in a compact form without resort to writing it down as a set of equations among matrix elements.     The aim of the present study was to investigate any alterations in gallbladder emptying after a variety of gastric surgery by milk 99MTC-HIDA scintigraphy. 28 controls and 145 patients were examined. Truncal vagotomy and pyloroplasty delayed the onset and decreased the extent of gallbladder emptying as compared to control, DU, HSV and billroth I groups. Antiulcer operations including the duodenum(TV-P, Billroth II and Rouxen Y) further reduced the extent of gallbladder emptying. In addition both groups of operations significantly changed the pattern of gallbladder emptying. Reproducibility of the method in 30 case was significant.Σκοπός της μελέτης αυτής ήταν να ερευνήσει τις μεταβολές της κένωσης της χοληδόχου κύστης μετά από μια ποικιλία αντιελκωτικών επεμβάσεων και επεμβάσεων για θεραπεία εντερογαστρικής παλινδρόμησης με τη χρησιμοποίηση της σπινθηρογραφικής μεθόδου 99MTC-HIDA με γάλα. Εξετάσθηκαν 28 μάρτυρες και 145 ασθενείς. Η στελεχιαία βαγοτομή και πυλωροπλαστική καθυστερεί την έναρξη και ελαττώνει το βαθμό της κένωσης σε σύγκριση με τους μάρτυρες, τους ελκοπαθείς μετά υπερεκλεκτική βαγοτομή και μετά Billroth I γαστρεκτομή. Οι επεμβάσεις που αποκλείουν το δωδεκαδάκτυλο όπως στελεχιαία βαγοτομή και γαστροεντεροαναστάτωση, Billroth II γαστρεκτομή και Rouxen Y γαστρεκτομή ελαττώνουν ακόμα περισσότερο το βαθμό κένωσης της χοληδοχοκύστης και οι δύο αυτές ομάδες μεταβάλλουν και τον τρόπο κένωσης(μορφολογία).     Spatially-localized time dependent solutions including turbulence and their interactions in 2D Kolmogorov flow

    In 2D Kolmogorov flow in small aspect ratio domains, spatially-localized solutions such as kink, traveling or time-dependent kink-antikink pars coexist. However, the conservation of the flow rate in the y direction strongly restrict combination of localized solutions and their positioning. We find that by adding a homogeneous flow U y their positioning is controlled and each of localized solutions including a spatially-localized chaos is isolated. Numerical results suggest that these isolated solutions can be elements constructing a whole flow

    Characteristics of overlap region in high-Reynolds number turbulent channel flow

    Direct numerical simulation of the fully developed turbulent channel flows have been carried out at the Reynolds number based on the friction velocity and the channel half width, 2000, 4000 and 8000. A hybrid 10th order accurate finite difference scheme in the stream and spanwise directions, and a second-order scheme in the wall-normal direction is adapted as the spatial discretization method. We observed the plateau profiles in the indicator function corresponded to the von Karman constant. Furthermore, second peak of streamwise pre-multiplied spectra were appeared in the same wall normal height, 300 < y+ < 600, in case of Re = 4000. Nevertheless, the effects of the lager than the channel half height scale on the streamwise turbulent intensity are fixed contributions without dependence on Reynolds number. These results suggested that the new streamwise vortexes are formed between buffer layer and outer layer with increasing of Reynolds number

    The Interpretation of Experimental Observation Data for the Development of Mechanisms based Creep Damage Constitutive Equations for High Chromium Steel

    It is very important to design a safe factor or estimating the remain lifetime for electric power plant components of steam pipes which mostly manufacture by high chromium steels and work at high temperature and low stress level. The author will develop the mechanisms based on creep damage constitutive equations for high chromium steel under lows stress in initial stage: (1) Creep cavities mostly formed attaching with the precipitation of Laves phase or on grain boundary for high chromium steel under low stress. The Laves phase should play an active role in the nucleation of creep cavities and suggest to explore the function between cavity nucleation and the evolution of Laves phase; (2) The dominant cavity nucleation mechanism is adapted to high chromium steels under low stress level; (3) Brittle intergranluar model is appropriate for high chromium steels at high temperature under low stress level; (4) High density number of cavity of crept test high chromium steel at high temperature under low stress could be as fracture criterion
