Design of a linear quadratic gaussian controller for a manufacturing process

    No full text
Yurtseven, Murat Kudret (Dogus Author), Ağaran, Berrin (Dogus Author)In this study, the design procedure and the performance analysis of a linear quadratic gaussian controller (LQGC) are presented. The controller is expected to regulate the production–inventory process of a manufacturing system along a pre-determined trajectory within the plant hierarchical control system; the hierarchical control structure is also described briefly in this chapter. The LQGC is based on a dynamic, discrete-time, and a stochastic model, aggregating products, and production processes. The simulation results show that the LQGC is well -suited for the intended purpose

Epidural patch with autologous platelet rich plasma: a novel approach

    No full text
We aimed to perform an epidural patch using platelet rich plasma (PRP), which has the potential to regenerate and heal tissues via degranulation of platelets, in a 34-year-old parturient suffering from persistent post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) after failed epidural blood patch (EBP). After her admission to our unit, we reconfirmed the clinical and radiologic diagnosis of PDPH. Cranial MRI with contrast showed diffuse pachymeningeal thickening and contrast enhancement with enlarged pituitary consistent with intracranial hypotension. Clinical and radiological improvements were observed 1 week after the epidural patch using autologous PRP. Therefore, we recommend using autologous PRP for epidural patching in patients with incomplete recovery after standard EBP as a novel successful approach

    Management of Postpartum Haemorrhage

    No full text
Postpartum haemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. However, postpartum haemorrhage-related deaths are potentially preventable with timely diagnosis and management. The present review addresses the management of postpartum haemorrhage algorithmthat includes the use of uterotonics, non-surgical (balloon tamponade) or surgical (sutures, artery ligations, and/or hysterectomy) techniques,and/or endovascular radiologic interventions, antifibrinolytic (tranexamic acid), and procoagulant (fibrinogen concentrate) drugs based on theinternational and national guidelines updated with recent evidences.</p

Aim: To compare the effects of intrathecal plain bupivacaine or ropivacaine with those of opioids on sensory and motor block characteristics during cesarean section (C/S)

    Obstetric anesthesia for co-morbid conditions

    No full text
This book presents general measures and offers a comprehensive overview of anesthetic considerations for specific serious medical problems in pregnant patients, with a focus on the anesthetic management of non-obstetric disorders during pregnancy and pregnancy-induced diseases. Although many books on this topic are available, this unique volume addresses specific disorders that may be encountered in daily obstetric anesthesia practice and discusses in detail serious medical problems during pregnancy. As such it is a valuable tool, providing targeted information particularly on the anesthetic considerations and management of not only non-obstetric diseases during pregnancy but also pregnancy- induced diseases.https://ecommons.aku.edu/books/1120/thumbnail.jp

How neuraxial labor analgesia differs by approach: dural puncture epidural as a novel option

    No full text
Background and aimNeuraxial analgesia techniques are not limited to just standard epidural and CSE blocks.Anovel approach called dural puncture epidural (DPE) which is a modification of CSE in terms of practice has gained popularity after itsdescription and use in theobstetric population. The aim of this review is to address the practice of DPE technique as a novel option by reviewing its benefits as well as side and/or adverse effects and to understand how neuraxial labor analgesia differs by approach based on the information available in the current literatureDiscussionDespite controversies and concerns, morerapid onset of analgesia, early bilateral sacral analgesia, lower incidence of asymmetric block and fewer maternal and fetal side effects are provided with DPE when compared to epidural.ConclusionDPE offers a favorable risk-benefit ratio for management of neuraxial analgesia as a novel option

The aim of this study is to examine the translation of Turkish version of Nadine Gordimer's first novel None to Acoompany Me written after receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature within the framework of style, language and theme. The reason why Nadine Gordimer was preferred in this study is to examine a South African woman author other than many important authors in the postcolonial period such as V. S. Naipaul, Chinua Achebe and Salman Rushdie. As None to Accompany Me has specific cultural elements, linguistic structures and postcolonial themes that are intrinsic to the postcolonial period, it is conceded to benefit from two translational approaches and one translation method during the analysis of translator's translation strategy. Paul Bandia's tripartite or three-tier translation approach will be used as the main method and Lawrence Venuti's foreignization and domestication approach and Vinay and Darbalnet's translation procedures will be considered as supporting methods during the qualitative comparison of two books. The first translation step of Bandia's approach will be analyzed within the framework of Vinay and Darbalnet's methods and the second and third steps of translation process will be assessed in terms of Lawrence Venuti's foreignization and domestication approach. In general, the aim of this study is to examine the transfer of indigenous style and thematic features that are specific to the postcolonial texts to the target culture and language that is unfamiliar to postcolonial spirit
