High quality chalcogenide-silica hybrid wedge resonator

Chalcogenide glasses, with high nonlinearity and low loss, have captured research interest as an integrated device platform for near-and mid-infrared nonlinear optical devices. Compared to silicon-based microfabrication technologies, chalcogenide fabrication processes are less mature and a major challenge is obtaining high quality devices. In this paper, we report a hybrid resonator design leveraging a high quality silica resonator to achieve high Q factors with chalcogenide. The device is composed of a thin chalcogenide layer deposited on a silica wedge resonator. The hybrid resonators exhibit loaded Q factors up to 1.5 x 10(5) in the near-infrared region. We also measured the effective thermo-optic coefficient of the device to be 5.5x10(-5)/K, which agreed well with the bulk value. Thermal drift of the device can be significantly reduced by introducing a titanium dioxide cladding layer with a negative thermo-optic coefficient. (C) 2017 Optical Society of America

학위논문(석사) - 한국과학기술원 : 신소재공학과, 2024.2,[ii, 28 p. :]The lithium metal anode has garnered attention as a next-generation battery material due to its high energy density compared to graphite. Nevertheless, its commercialization faces challenges owing to the high reactivity of lithium metal and the formation of dendrites. Various strategies proposed for inhibit dendrite growth, but simultaneously acting additive that can work at the electrode-electrolyte interphase and within the electrolyte have been relatively unexplored. This study designed and synthesized an electrolyte additive forming nanofibers through supramolecular polymerization. The introduced supramolecular nanofiber electrolyte additive coordinates with lithium ions, altering the solvation structure of lithium ions. The nanofibers within the electrolyte serve as channels with aligned side chains, inducing rapid conduction of lithium ions and resulting in high ion conductivity. Additionally, at the electrode interphase, the weak interaction between side chains and lithium ions facilitates easy detachment of lithium ions. Based on these properties, supramolecular nanofiber additive enhances lithium metal batteries performances compared to conventional electrolytes.한국과학기술원 :신소재공학과

Study on Solar KANG Heating System for Cold Areas

    No full text
AbstractThe current rural traditional heated kang cannot meet people's increasing requirements of comfort and environmental protection. This paper propose solar kang heating system in cold regions. System performance and heating effect were analyzed. We selected two typical rooms. One was set in traditional kang, and the other one was solar Kang type. Using temperature recording instrument and 64 roads inspection instrument and other instruments, we test the indoor temperature and the kang surface temperature of two rooms. Solar kang thermal resistance, heat storage, heat dissipation and heating effect were analyzed and compared. The results of the study show this system have the smaller fluctuation, more comfort while alleviating the kang surface overheat or super-cooling problem. It satisfied the requirements of indoor thermal comfort. The warming rate is 5.17°C/h, and the cooling rate is 3.01°C/h. These are slower than traditional Huokang speed. It improved the heat storage capacity of kang body with surface heat dissipation 1237W. Average temperature of the solar kang heating room was improved 3.28°C. It gets the smaller indoor temperature fluctuation. PMV values are concentrated about -0.5, and this basically meet the requirements of the user comfort

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the life and work of the Korean writer Kang Kyǒng-ae, with a focus on her short prose. The aim of this thesis is an analysis of two works - Salt and Darkness - with attention to the context of the author's time. Nowadays, Kang Kyǒng-ae is considered a significant author of the 1930s and her works reflect the phenomenon of Korean emigrants in Manchuria. For a long time, leftist tendencies caused her prose to be neglected, which resulted in a considerably limited number of studies concerned with her work, in comparison to the number of studies about other writers. There are virtually no Czech studies of her work. The text of the thesis initially presents the timeframe of Kang's authorship and then analyzes select works of hers. The analysis of the works focuses on recurring motifs, which are put into a historical and social context. Keywords Kang Kyǒng-ae, Korean 1930s literature, leftist literature, Sogǔm, Ǒdu

Inah has been having nightmares. Nightmares of fish bones, fractals, and a marriage that ended under some unnamed violence. Walking the night streets with a man she has known for years, whose feelings for her are bound up with his intense longing to live as a woman, the fragile bond of their relationship threatens to shatter. Internationally acclaimed author Han Kang directs her unflinching gaze on the painful complexities of damage and recovery, questioning what it is we want from ourselves and each other, and whether there are some things that are truly irreparable

As a Taiwanese female writer in 1960s, Kang Yun-Wei mainly created short novel and prose. Engaged in writing for more than 40 years, she only publishes less than 10 pieces of works. Special life experiences influence themes of her works. She uses unadorned and natural technique to smoothly present ordinary and trivial topics. In spite of limited quantity of works, she still wins many famous masters\ue2 praise due to her distinctive personal style. This paper aims to conduct comprehensive analysis and investigation of Kang Yun-Wei and her novels, and is composed of six chapters as the following. Chapter 1 is the \ue2Introduction\ue2, which describes motivation, objective, scope and method of the research, review of literatures, and framework of this paper framework. The author determines direction of the present study mainly because there is no academic paper specially investigating Kang Yun-Wei and the female consciousness and marital problems discussed by her have non- negligible significance in Taiwanese women\ue2s novels. Chapter 2 is \ue2Biography and Creation\ue2, which introduces Kang Yun-Wei\ue2s personal experiences and summarizes the background, course and material drawing of her creation. Chapter 3 is \ue2Themes of Novels\ue2, including love, marriage, family, female consciousness raising, friendship, social phenomena and social solicitude. Chapter 4 is \ue2Characters depicted in Novels\ue2, which generalizes different types of female and male characters created in the novels, as well as exquisitely outlines vivid figures from the external to internal. Chapter 5 is \ue2Artistic Techniques of Novels\ue2, which discusses how Kang Yun-Wei skillfully utilizes writing technique to organize source materials and adopts natural, unadorned style to express fine and deep emotion. Chapter 6 is the \ue2Conclusion\ue2, which summarizes research findings and evaluates the value of Kang Yun-Wei and her novels

Edward Bellamy and Kang Youwei's utopian society: Comparative analyses

    No full text
© The author(s). The importance of the problem is determined by typological and functional similarity in reconsideration of the main social values having occurred at a turn of the XIX-XX centuries and nowadays. The article focuses on the comparative analyses of the models of the ideal society introduced by Kang Youwei (1858-1927) in 1890s and the American socialist Edward Bellamy (1850 - 1898). Despite the claims about Kang Youwei's complete intellectual isolation, his idea of a social ideal was strongly influenced by Bellamy's novel Looking Backward which was translated into Chinese. This fact lets us use the comparative method. The article shows that the Western lifestyle was the main justification for the use of the social experience of the United States for rebuilding China and eventually having global society (represented in those days as a utopia). The article may be useful to political scientists, sociologists and historians concerned with the public ideal and its use in the development of ideologies
