Background: Majority of people in stable relationships are not aware of their HIV status. Bulawayo City HTC data showed a decline in the proportion of urban couples who were tested for HIV from 11% in 2010 to 6.7% in 2014.The study was conducted to determine factors associated with HTC among couples in Bulawayo City. Methods: A one to one unmatched case control study was conducted. A total of 254 women, 127 cases and 127 controls, were recruited. A case was a woman aged 16-35 years who did not receive HTC with her partner. A control was a woman aged 16-35 who had received HTC with her partner. A pretested interviewer administered questionnaire was used to collect data from conveniently selected participants. Bivariate and logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify effect modification and control for confounding. Results: Staying within a distance of less than 5 km from the health the health facility (AOR=0. 38, 95% CI: 0.21-0.71) and prior discussion of HTC as a couple (AOR=0. 43, 95% CI: 0.21-0.87) were independently associated with more likelihood of receiving HTC as a couple. Conflicting work schedules (AOR=2.99, 95% CI: 1.17-5.11) and perceived low risk (AOR=1.78, 95% CI: 1.02-3.10) were found to be independent risk factors for not receiving HTC as a couple. Conclusion: Testing as a couple was as a result of factors relating to distance of less than 5 km from the health facility, prior discussion of HTC as a couple, low risk perception and conflicting work schedules. Encouraging communication among couples and health education may improve HTC among couples

Fashion began to appear in society in the 16th century to be precise in the era of European progress. And from there fashion began to grow and proliferate throughout the world. It is undeniable that most people in the world pay attention to their appearance or the clothes they wear. One of them is clothing brand products which are one of the fashion styles favored by teenagers. The products produced by clothing in Indonesia itself are also quite varied, ranging from t-shirts, jackets, pants, bags, hats to shoes. The quality produced is also not inferior to products produced by foreign countries. The proof is that there are not a few clothing that are able to compete and penetrate the international scene. In Salatiga itself, there are also many clothing brands that are no less interesting and also of high quality than -known brands . One of them is the clothing brand Amen, which is here as a streetwear clothing brand to give a new color to the Salatiga fashion scene. However, in its implementation, the Amen clothing brand has problems in product marketing. Therefore, in this research, the author aims to design a promotional video for the Amen clothing brand in collaboration with the Bless Off Hardcore Music Group as a marketing strategy to introduce the product so that it is known to the general public

Guantánamo: The Amen Temple of Empire

abstract: Guantánamo: The Amen Temple of Empire connects the fetishization of the trauma of nine/eleven with the co-constitution of subjects at Guantánamo—that of the contained Muslim terrorist prisoner silhouetted against the ideal nationalistic military body—circulated as ‘afterimages’ that carry ideological narratives about U.S. Empire. These narratives in turn religiously and racially charge the new normative practices of the security state and its historically haunted symbolic order. As individuals with complex subjectivities, the prisoners and guards are, of course, not reducible to the standardizing imprimatur of the state or its narratives. Despite the circulation of these ‘afterimages’ as fixed currency, the prisoners and guards produce their own metanarratives, through their para-ethnographic accounts of containment and of self. From within the panopticon of the prison, they seek sight lines, and gaze back at the state. This dissertation is thus a meditation on US militarism, violence, torture, race, and carceral practices, revealed thematically through metaphors of hungry ghosts, nature, journey and death, liminality, time, space, community, and salvage. Based on a multi-sited, empirical and imaginary ethnography, as well as textual and discourse analysis, I draw on the writing and testimony of prisoners, and military and intelligence personnel, whom I consider insightful para-ethnographers of the haunting valence of this fetishized historical event.Dissertation/ThesisDoctoral Dissertation Religious Studies 201

A Simple Proof And Some Applications Of An Integral Representation For The Catalan Numbers

    No full text
A simple proof for an integral representation of the Catalan numbers that makes use of an ordinary generating function approach and relies on essentially nothing beyond elementary integral calculus is presented. Application of the integral representation given is then made in the evaluation of a family of infinite sums consisting of products between the central binomial coeffi cient and the bicentral binomial coeffi cient. The author is grateful to Sangchul Lee for the conjectured expression for the integral Ik appearing in (18) which expresses its value explicitly in terms of a simple positive rational

Onsekizinci yüzyılda Van Mour'un bu konuyu ele alan resimleri, bazı on dokuzuncu yüzyıl gravürleri ve Türk ressamları Rıfat Çeteci ile Malik Aksel'in çalışmaları bu geleneği farklı yönleriyle yansıtmaktadırPrimary schools (sübyan mektebi) in Ottoman educational system were primarily established to teach Kuran- Kerim and had religious context. Besides children had to study alphabet (elifba) to read and write Kuran and in time some lessons were added to course programmes. Therefore, the context was enriched. Amen parade for children (Âmin alayı) were mostly organised in response to beginning of primary school for the children of wealthy families. It was an important tradition in Ottoman social history. The rituals of this procession have been analysed by scholars in the context of education and social history. Besides the literature, there are also some paintings made by foreign and Turkish artists which are satisfactory documents for this subject. The subject matter of these paintings may be considered as genre paintings focusing on a special event. In the eighteenth century the paintings of Van Mour, some nighteenth century gravures and the paintings of Rıfat Çeteci and Malik Aksel reflect this tradition from different points of vie

Asymmetric Inheritance of Aggregated Proteins and Age Reset in Yeast Are Regulated by Vac17-Dependent Vacuolar Functions

    No full text
SummaryAge can be reset during mitosis in both yeast and stem cells to generate a young daughter cell from an aged and deteriorated one. This phenomenon requires asymmetry-generating genes (AGGs) that govern the asymmetrical inheritance of aggregated proteins. Using a genome-wide imaging screen to identify AGGs in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, we discovered a previously unknown role for endocytosis, vacuole fusion, and the myosin-dependent adaptor protein Vac17 in asymmetrical inheritance of misfolded proteins. Overproduction of Vac17 increases deposition of aggregates into cytoprotective vacuole-associated sites, counteracts age-related breakdown of endocytosis and vacuole integrity, and extends replicative lifespan. The link between damage asymmetry and vesicle trafficking can be explained by a direct interaction between aggregates and vesicles. We also show that the protein disaggregase Hsp104 interacts physically with endocytic vesicle-associated proteins, such as the dynamin-like protein, Vps1, which was also shown to be required for Vac17-dependent sequestration of protein aggregates. These data demonstrate that two physiognomies of aging—reduced endocytosis and protein aggregation—are interconnected and regulated by Vac17
