A Norwegian grey zone: Knut Rød, Victor Lind and 'The crucial year, 1942'
This article uses Primo Levi’s concept of “the grey zone” to explore Knut Rød’s involvement in the transfer of 532 Norwegian Jews from Oslo to Auschwitz in 1942. Rød, the police chief in charge of the operation, was subsequently exonerated of any crime on the grounds that he had simultaneously used his position to help members of Milorg – the Norwegian Resistance. The legal and moral basis of this verdict has been questioned by the artist Victor Lind in a series of artworks, including his “countermonument” The Perpetrator (2005)

The Džarylgač Survey Project
The Džarylgač Survey Project (DSP) is an archaeological research project that, using a variety of field survey methods, aims to study the interaction between Greek colonists and indigenous populations in northwestern Crimea (present-day Ukraine) during the late Classical and early Hellenistic period (late 5th - 3rd century BC). The project, named after the lake around which fieldwork was done, entails field surveys, test excavations, environmental studies and geophysical prospections and has furnished important new insights in the local settlement history, not only during the period of Greek presence but also for the Bronze Age and early modern period

An optimization framework for solving capacitated multi-level lot-sizing problems with backlogging
This paper proposes two new mixed integer programming models for capacitated multi-level lot-sizing problems with backlogging, whose linear programming relaxations provide good lower bounds on the optimal solution value. We show that both of these strong formulations yield the same lower bounds. In addition to these theoretical results, we propose a new, effective optimization framework that achieves high quality solutions in reasonable computational time. Computational results show that the proposed optimization framework is superior to other well-known approaches on several important performance dimensions
