    Arkhanka, mon berceau !

The author is using documents from a personal archive and tells a story based on anecdotes as well as edited memoirs of her mother Nadezhda Reformatskaya . She had the fortune to spend her youth in one of the last small Russian country homes. Lively accounts ofprovincial country life at the beginning ofthe twentieth century give way to dramatic scenes of the conscription to send troops to the frontline of the First World War. The title of the article paraphrases the lines from a poem by A. N. Nekrasov “ On the Volga” (1860).Reformatskaâ Mariâ Aleksandrovna, Groppo Armelle. Arkhanka, mon berceau !. La mythologie de la guerre dans les articles de Vassili Rozanov

«We started a war, selfsatisfied » : the mythology of a war in Vasily Rozanov’s publicism. The perception of World War I in Vasily Rozanov’s works («The War of 1914 and Russian Renaissance », Petrograd, 1915 ; «In the Fumes of War », Petrograd, Moscow, 1916 ; «The Apocalypse of Our Time », Sergiev Posad, 19171918) is considered in the context of articles by Konstantin Leontyev, Nikolai Berdyaev and Mikhail Prishvin’s diary, as well as in the historical and cultural context of the World War I (Cossack Kozma Kryuchkov, publicist Mikhail Menshikov, singer Maria DolinaGorlenko). The Slavophile ideology (the myth of Holy Russia) is revealed in Rozanov’s discourse about the war, which became the basis of state propaganda.Medvedev Alexandre, Groppo Armelle. Le centenaire de la Première Guerre mondiale en Russie : la mémoire de la coopération franco-russe

The Centenary of the First World War : the RussianFrench Cooperation in the Contemporary Historical Memory in Russia. The article reveals the boom of historical memory studies in present day Russia. The officially supported memory of the First World War hardly existed in Russia before the end of the 1980s. Interest in the history of the World War I rapidly revived only in the 1990s. FrancoRussian cooperation has become an important theme of the new commemorative practices. However, the First World War remains for Russians in the shadow of the victory in the Great Patriotic War (World War II).Khodnev Alexandre, Groppo Armelle. La Russie asiatique dans l'œuvre d'Alexandre Ostrovski

The Asian component permeates all levels of Ostrovsky's fictional world and reflects the author's view of the problem of Russian identity while also letting us estimate the geopolitical claims of Russia's general public. The article examines various markers of Asia and "asiachina" (backwardness) in the works of the playwright. Such markers are the names of towns on the Volga river, taken by Ostrovsky from the ancient history of the region (Bryakhimov) or from the neighboring Central Asia (Khiva, Kokand, Bukhara), the peoples living in a particular area (the Berendei, the Kokands, the Kirghiz-Kaisaks, etc.). Especially frequent ethnonyms are Tatars (the "next door strangers" for Russians), and Turks (due to the frequent wars between Russia and Turkey). His plays often feature Asian surnames of aristocratic characters such as Gurmyzhskaya, Murzavetskaya, Ulanbekova, Mamaev, Kuchumov, etc. The "steppe" beginning of "nomadism", combined with harshness and despotism, characterizes the merchant class in the author's plays. In addition to the Tatar and Eastern (Iranian-Turkish) sources, the Finno-Ugric locus becomes the other pole of "inner Asia". It is associated with the symbolism of the "forest" (in the play ''Forest''), an alternative to the Asian-Turkic "steppe".La composante asiatique pénètre tous les niveaux du monde artistique d'Ostrovski et représente le point de vue de l'auteur sur le problème de l'identité russe. Sozina Elena, Groppo Armelle. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
