Get PDFThe active methodology creates an enabling environment for the academic to have the possibility to be resolute in the face of a challenge, generating the professional profile that is in line with the general competencies of health professionals. The purpose of this project is to propose the experience of using active methodology for higher education courses in health sciences, which solidify the mechanisms involved in genetic transcription, a content of great technical importance. Through making and pasting posters, the interactive dynamic proposes the formation of DNA strands and the production of primary transcript strands and mature mRNA. Through this approach, this study is an alternative highly framed in the new pedagogical trends that places the student as an agent imbued with the construction of knowledge. In addition, it shows an excellent procedure for being able to develop competencies in the student, such as decision making, communication, commitment, autonomy and teamwork, in addition to showing the applicability of biological reasoning in future clinical and professional practice. The application of recreational mechanisms has a positive impact on learning, taking the individual out of your comfort zone at the same time as they enhance creativity and contribute to intellectual development. Structured teaching strategies like this one, make academic didactics more assertive in the student's academic development.La metodología activa crea un entorno propicio para que el académico tenga la posibilidad de ser resuelto ante un desafío, generando un perfil profesional que esté en línea con las habilidades generales de los profesionales de la salud. El propósito de este proyecto es proponer la experiencia de utilizar metodología activa para cursos de educación superior en ciencias de la salud, que solidifiquen los mecanismos involucrados en la transcripción genética, un contenido de gran importancia técnica. Mediante la creación y pegado de carteles, la dinámica interactiva propone la formación de cadenas de ADN y la producción de cadenas de transcripción primaria y ARNm maduro. A través de este enfoque, este estudio es una alternativa altamente enmarcada en las nuevas tendencias pedagógicas que ubica al estudiante como un agente imbuido en la construcción del conocimiento. Además, se muestra como un excelente procedimiento para poder desarrollar competencias en el alumno, como la toma de decisiones, la comunicación, el compromiso, la autonomía y el trabajo en equipo, además de mostrar la aplicabilidad del razonamiento biológico en la práctica clínica y profesional futura. La aplicación de mecanismos lúdicos tiene un impacto positivo en el aprendizaje, sacando al individuo de su zona de confort mientras mejora la creatividad y contribuye al desarrollo intelectual. Estrategias de enseñanza estructuradas como esta, hacen que la didáctica académica sea más asertiva en el desarrollo académico del estudiante.A metodologia ativa cria um ambiente propício para que o acadêmico tenha a possibilidade de ser resolutivo frente a um desafio, gerando o perfil profissional que está em consonância com as competências gerais dos profissionais da saúde. O intuito deste desígnio é propor a experiência de utilização de metodologia ativa para cursos superiores de ciências da saúde, que solidifique os mecanismos envolvidos na transcrição genética, um conteúdo de grande importância técnica. Através da confecção e colagem de cartazes, a dinâmica interativa propõe a formação das fitas de DNA e a produção das fitas de transcrito primário e mRNA maduro. Através desta abordagem, este estudo é uma alternativa altamente enquadrada nas novas tendências pedagógicas que coloca o aluno como agente imbuído na construção do saber. Ademais, mostra-se um excelente procedimento por ser capaz de desenvolver competências no aluno, como tomada de decisão, comunicação, comprometimento, autonomia e trabalho em equipe, além de evidenciar a aplicabilidade da fundamentação biológica na prática clínica e profissional futura. A aplicação de mecanismos lúdicos impacta positivamente no aprendizado, tirando o indivíduo de sua zona de conforto ao mesmo tempo em que potenciam a criatividade e contribuem para o desenvolvimento intelectual. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
