It gives you wheels: the university-based accelerators in start-up ecosystems
Many scholars have investigated the growing phenomenon of
start-ups in the last decade from various angles; this paper aims to join the
ongoing debate over university-based accelerators (UBAs) by addressing how
they contribute to the development and growth of start-ups and to the viability
of a start-up ecosystem. The review led to consider actors, geographical
contexts, and resources as the three main drivers shaping a start-up ecosystem
and the support UBAs offered to start-ups. A preliminary analysis on several
start-up ecosystems around the world and two on-field studies led the research
to show methodological, theoretical, and practical advances, as UBAs offer a
hard-to-replicate combination of suitable conditions for start-up acceleration,
due to prestige in the business context, the operationalisation of models and
methods, and the setting up of a fertile ground for start-ups

Potere.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
AI as a Boost for Startups Companies: Evidence From Italy
Innovative startups are growing everywhere; clearly, digital transformation is imperative for all businesses to compete, or better survive. Institutions prompt companies and businesses to adopt digital transformation tools, providing funds too, especially to startups (MISE, 2019).In particular, this study analyzes Artificial Intelligence, understanding its implications, ties and features in startups. No commonly agreed definitions are given about AI and startups, thus the tie between them should be deepened. One of the most cited definitions considers startup as a temporary organization looking for scalable business models (Blank, 2013). In literature little attention has been paid to the connection between startup and AI. The flurry of interest in AI is triggering a variety of reactions, as the capacities to favour startups (Agrawal et al., 2017), making them more scalable (Rinzwana, 2019). Ten case studies were selected in a qualitative research, due to the early stage this field of study is in and to adopt a wider perspective. From a practical perspective, this research shows the potentialities of AI in changing markets, business activities, and ways of serving customers. This research describes how AI can trigger novelties through startups creation and the engine of novelties in market
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
