Learning approach among health sciences students in a medical college in Nepal: a cross-sectional study

Very hot tea drinking increases esophageal squamous cell carcinoma risk in a high-risk area of China: a population-based case–control study

We appreciate the authors for their contribution to this area with a sound methodology, design, and well conduct of the research. Though the study was appreciable, there need some clarifications in the following areas in the analysis section of the article.View the original paper by Yang and colleagues. 
Empathy levels among first year Malaysian medical students: an observational study

We would like to raise some concerns regarding the methods used for data analysis in the paper. The authors have analyzed the data using descriptive statistics such as means and standard deviation (SD) that are not appropriate parameters since the instrument used a seven-point Likert scoring scale. Multimodalitas Wacana Kritis Keagamaan Dalam Komik Aji Prasetyo
Comics as a popular visual communication medium are potential to carry sensitive discourses flexibly and freely. The nature of comics that involves the reader in filling out messages, as well as forms of multimodal communication through images and texts also support that potention. Serious, sensitive, and critical topics, such as religion, are often found in comics. One of the actual comics with a critical religious theme is the comic by Aji Prasetyo. This journal will analyze critical religiousity discourse in Aji Prasetyo\u27s comics through a multimodal approach. The analysis was using the analysis method by Kress and Van Leeuwen, with the help of McCloud\u27s comic theory. The results show that the interweaving of signs in visual mode and verbal mode in comics is related to each other to form discourse. Signs in the visual mode in the form of icons play an important role as a representation of characters and ideas. While in verbal mode, the caption dominates the comic as a representation of the author\u27s critical opinion. The interweaving of signs in this fashion hybridity constructs a critical discourse about the contradictions of religious expression between formalism and substantialism.Komik sebagai media komunikasi visual yang populer sanggup membawa wacana-wacana sensitif secara lentur dan leluasa. Sifat komik yang melibatkan pembaca dalam mengisi kekosongan pesan, serta bentuk komunikasi multimodal melalui gambar dan teks juga turut menunjang hal tersebut. Topik yang serius, sensitif, dan juga kritis, seperti keagamaan kemudian sering ditemui dalam beberapa komik. Salah satu komik yang aktual dengan tema kritis keagamaan adalah komik karya Aji Prasetyo. Jurnal ini akan menganalisis wacana kritis keagamaan dalam komik Aji Prasetyo melalui pendekatan multimodal. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan pisau analisis Kress dan Van Leeuwen, dengan dibantu teori komik McCloud. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa jalinan tanda dalam mode visual dan mode verbal dalam komik saling berkaitan membentuk wacana. Tanda dalam mode visual berupa ikon berperan penting sebagai representasi kelompok dan gagasan. Sedangkan dalam mode verbal, caption mendominasi komik sebagai representasi opini kritis pengarang. In writing this thesis, the author discussed “Tamaranai,Shikataganai, and NaranaiasHojo Dooshi in Japanese sentences‟. The author chose this title because it’s difficult to use these form without making mistakes in the sentences, especially for non-native Japanese speakers. The first step in writing this thesis was collecting the data, then analyzed the data, and presented the data descriptively.
Hojo dooshi is one of the kind of verb that takes words which precede it with te/de form in the sentences. Tamaranai, shikataganai, and naranai are dooshi ‘verb’ in Japanese. These three words in Indonesian mean ‘tidak tahan’, ‘apa boleh buat’, and ‘apa boleh buat’. Meanwhile, when tamaranai, shikataganai and naranai take form of ~te tamaranai, ~te shikatagani, and ~te naranai the meaning of the words are changing to ‘sangat’ in Indonesian. It does affect the meaning of the precede words and express the strength of psychological or feelings of the speaker. Although in Indonesian these three forms can be interpreted with the same word, there is actually differences in usage of these three forms.
~te shikataganai can be used to replace ~te tamaranai or ~te naranai in the sentences. But, there are limitations in usage of ~te tamaranai and ~te naranai regarding the types of words which precede them.

COVID-19-related challenges in blood donation in the United Arab Emirates
Background:Blood donation was among the most severely disrupted service during the COVID-19 pandemic, and different measures were taken nationally and internationally to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on donation services.Aim:To compare blood donation before, during and after the pandemic and the effectiveness of efforts to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on donation services.Methods:This retrospective, observational, population-based study assessed the number and locations of blood donations, number of blood and platelet units issued to hospitals, and characteristics of 82 619 blood donors at the reference blood donation facility in United Arab Emirates in 2019 and 2020. Service recovery was assessed by comparing blood donation in 2021 and 2022 with 2019. The data were analysed using SPSS version 26 and the extent of the effect of COVID-19 on the measured parameters was tested using Pearson’s χ2 test. P ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results:COVID-19 significantly affected the number of donors, location of blood donations, and quantities of blood and platelets issued to hospitals. Median annual number of donors was 19 121 males and 1393 females. In 2020, male donors increased by 1.6%, while female donors decreased by 22.3%. The number of donors decrease to 18 977 in 2020 from 19 035 in 2019 and increased to 22 542 in 2021 and 22 065 in 2022. Whole blood collections decreased by 0.3% in 2020 and increased by 18.0% in 2021 and 13.6% in 2022.Conclusion:Proactive measures, good infrastructure, flexibility, emergency planning, community awareness, good communication between stakeholders, and close coordination among national authorities are needed to effectively manage blood donation centres during crisis.49250
ANALISIS TIDAK BEKERJANYA BOW THRUSTER PADA SAAT MANOUVER DI MV.PULAU HOKI

Bow thruster system is a auxiliary aircraft for manouvering the ship when it
lean or will leave the dock, namely by utilizing the propeller rotation which
provides axial force/ transverse force on the bow of the ship.
The formulation of the problem of this research is what factors cause
disturbances to the bow thruster, what impacts are caused, and what efforts are
made to overcome the existing problems. The formulation is to be more selective,
tiered and in accordance with the meaning, the writer uses a qualitative descriptive
analysis method in which the researcher obtains the main data from interviews
and observations. And the author also uses the SHEL method, namely software,
hardware, environment, liveware.
Based on the results of this study it was concluded that the cause of the bow
thruster not working was the corrosion of the support pipe which caused the cable
to peel off, and the control system of the bow thruster auxiliary aircraft did not
work properly. The abnormal operation of the bow thruster has an impact on the
disruption of the ship’s manouvering process, efforts are made to avoid
operational problems with the bow thruster by replacing components that are
damaged/ not functioning properly with new components

ANALISIS RENDAHNYA MINAT BELAJAR PADA MATA PELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM MATERI FIQIH DAN RELEVANSINYA DALAM PENGAMALAN IBADAH SHALAT SISWA SMA NEGERI 1 MERAKSA AJI, TULANG BAWANG
ABSTRAK
Kesuksesan suatu pendidikan salah satunya dipengaruhi
dengan minat belajar siswa, minat belajar yang baik akan
berpengaruh dengan hasil belajar siswa beda hal nya dengan minat
belajar siswa rendah maka hasil belajar juga rendah. Adapun
relevansi minat belajar dengan pengamalan ibadah siswa yang saling
berkaitan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyebab
rendahnya minat belajar dan relevansinya dalam pengamalan ibadah
shalat siswa SMA Negeri I Meraksa Aji, Tulang Bawang.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif,
jenis deskriptif menggunakan metode studi lapangan (field research).
Informan utama penelitian yaitu guru pendidikan agama Islam dan
siswa SMA Negeri I Meraksa Aji Tulang Bawang, sedangkan sumber
data skunder di peroleh berupa dokumentasi yang telah ditentukan
oleh peneliti. Tehnik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi
partisipatif, wawancara bebas terpimpin dan dukumentasi. Tehnik
analisa data menggunakan model interaktif dari Miles dan Huberman
dengan tahapan pengumpulan dataa, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan
penarikan kesimpulan yang dilakukan secara bersamaan. Pemeriksaan
keabsahan data menggunakan kredibilat.
Berdasarkan analisis yang telah penulis lakukan dapat
diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa terdapat beberapa faktor yang
menyebakan minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran pendidikan
agama Islam rendah, faktor-faktor tersebut antara lain faktor internal
dan eksternal. Faktor internal yaitu (psikologis dan fisiologis siswa),
sedangkan faktor eksternal yaitu (faktor keluarga, guru dan
lingkungan), minat belajar di SMA Negeri I Meraksa Aji Tulang
Bawang tergolong rendah. Dan relevansi minat belajar dengan
pengamalan ibadah di SMA Negeri I Merksa Aji Tulang Bawang
tergolong rendah.

ABSTRAC
The success of an education is influenced by student interest
in learning, good interest in learning will affect student learning
outcomes, unlike the case with low student interest in learning,
learning outcomes are also low. The relevance of interest in learning
with the practice of student worship is interrelated. This study aims to
determine the causes of low interest in learning and its relevance in
the practice of prayer of students of SMA Negeri I Meraksa Aji,
Tulang Bawang.
This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach,
descriptive type using field study method (field research). The main
informants of the research were Islamic religious education teachers
and students of SMA Negeri I Meraksa Aji Tulang Bawang, while
secondary data sources were obtained in the form of documentation
that had been determined by the researcher. Data collection
techniques use participatory observation, guided free interviews and
documentation. Data analysis techniques use the interactive model of
Miles and Huberman with the stages of data collection, data
reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing which are
carried out simultaneously. Data validity checks use credibility.
Based on the analysis that the author has done, it can be
concluded that there are several factors that cause students' interest in
learning in Islamic religious education subjects to be low, these
factors include internal and external factors. Internal factors are
(psychological and physiological students), while external factors are
(psychological and physiological students).

PERAN RUMAH PINTAR ADZKIA DALAM MENINGKATKAN SOSIALISASI PADA ANAK DI DESA GUNUNG AJI KABUPATEN OKU SELATAN
ABSTRAK
Saat ini anak-anak tumbuh di era teknologi digital dan internet yang memiliki tantangan begitu
besar. Sehingga dibutuhkan ruang atau lembaga yang memiliki layanan pembelajaran bagi anak-anak,
seperti pendidikan formal dan non formal. Rumah Pintar Adzkia merupakan sebuah wadah atau tempat
anak-anak untuk belajar mandiri, kreatif, dan berkarakter positif. Dengan menyediakan program kegiatan
seperti, pendampingan membaca buku, belajar bahasa inggris, belajar computer, cooking class, go green
dan seni tari. Dengan menyediakan berbagai program kegiatan, Rumah Pintar Adzkia berupaya
meningkatkan keterampilan dan pengetahuan anak-anak dalam suasana yang menyenangkan.
Berdasarkan permasalahan diatas penulis merumuskan beberapa rumusan masalah. Yang pertama,
bagaimana peran Rumah Pintar Adzkia dalam meningkatkan sosialisasi pada anak di desa Gunung Aji?
dan yang kedua bagaimana strategi Rumah Pintar Adzkia dalam meningkatkan sosialisasi pada anak di
desa Gunung Aji? Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui peran apa yang dilakukan Rumah Pintar Adzkia
dalam meningkatkan sosialisasi pada anak, untuk mengetahui strategi apa yang digunakan Rumah Pintar
Adzkia dalam meningkatkan sosialisasi pada.
Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif dengan sifat deskriptif dan
menggunakan jenis penelitian lapangan (Field Reserch). Metode pengumpulan data berupa observasi,
wawancara dan dokumentasi. Adapun analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis
deskriptif dengan menggunakan beberapa tahap yaitu : reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data.
Pemilihan informan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik Purposive Sampling. Teori yang
digunakan untuk menganalisis dalam penelitian ini adalah Teori Sosialisasi dari George Herbert Mead.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa peran Rumah Pintar Adzkia berdampak positif dalam
meningkatkan minat belajar dan kepercayaan diri anak-anak. Dengan mengembangkan lima sentra
sebagai pusat kegiatan belajar yang dirancang untuk memberikan pengalaman belajar yang
menyenangkan dan interaktif bagi anak-anak, yaitu sentra buku, sentra bermain, sentra panggung dan
sentra kriya. Melalui sentra ini yang fokus pada pengembangan kemampuan bersosialisasi, berbahasa,
keterampilan sosial, dan kegiatan kreatif, Rumah Pintar Adzkia menjadi ruang bagi anak-anak untuk
belajar sambil berinteraksi dengan teman sebaya, membangun kepercayaan diri, menjadi pribadi yang
lebih mandiri dan memperluas wawasan mereka. Dengan demikian, rumah pintar di Desa Gunung Aji
tidak hanya mendukung pendidikan formal, tetapi juga membantu membentuk karakter dan keterampilan
sosial anak-anak, yang sangat penting untuk masa depan mereka. Strategi Rumah Pintar Adzkia dalam
meningkatkan sosialisasi pada anak, menerapkan kegiatan belajar secara berkelompok, di mana anak
anak diajak untuk bekerja sama, berdiskusi, dan saling bertukar pengetahuan. Melalui strategi ini,
diharapkan anak-anak tidak hanya mendapatkan ilmu pengetahuan dalam bidang pendidikan, tetapi juga
keterampilan sosial yang penting, seperti kerja sama, komunikasi, dan rasa percaya diri. Hal ini
membantu mereka untuk mengembangkan keterampilan berkomunikasi dan interaksi sosial yang lebih
baik.

Nowadays, children grow up in the era of digital technology and the internet, which has so many
challenges. So it takes a space or institution that has learning services for children, such as formal and
non-formal education. Rumah Pintar Adzkia is a place for children to learn independently, creatively,
and with positive character. By providing activity programs such as, book reading assistance, learning
English, learning computers, cooking class, go green and dance art. By providing various activity
programs, Rumah Pintar Adzkia seeks to improve children's skills and knowledge in a fun atmosphere.
Based on the above problems, the author formulates several problem formulations. First, what is the
role of Rumah Pintar Adzkia in improving socialization in children in Gunung Aji village? and second,
what is the strategy of Rumah Pintar Adzkia in improving socialization in children in Gunung Aji
village? The purpose of the study is to find out what role the Rumah Pintar Adzkia plays in improving
socialization in children, to find out what strategies the Rumah Pintar Adzkia uses in improving
socialization in children.
The method used in this research uses qualitative with descriptive nature and uses the type of
field research (Field Reserch). Data collection methods are observation, interviews and documentation.
The data analysis in this study uses descriptive analysis method by using several stages, namely: data
reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Selection of informants in this study using Purposive
Sampling technique. The theory used to analyze in this research is Socialization Theory from George
Herbert Mead.
The results of this study show that the role of Rumah Pintar Adzkia has a positive impact in
increasing children's interest in learning and self-confidence. By developing five centers as learning
activity centers designed to provide fun and interactive learning experiences for children, namely the
book center, play center, stage center and craft center. Through these centers that focus on the
development of socialization, language, social skills and creative activities, Rumah Pintar Adzkia
provides a space for children to learn while interacting with peers, building confidence, becoming more
independent and broadening their horizons. Thus, the smart house in Gunung Aji Village not only
supports formal education, but also helps shape children's character and social skills, which are crucial
for their future. Rumah Pintar Adzkia strategy in improving socialization in children, implementing
learning activities in groups, where children are invited to work together, discuss and exchange
knowledge. Through this strategy, it is hoped that children will not only gain knowledge in the field of
education, but also important social skills, such as cooperation, communication, and self-confidence.
This helps them to develop better communication and social interaction skills.
