On the 10th and 11th of May 2018, the International Symposium Jaime Cortesão: writings and geographies of exile took place at the National Library of Portugal, in Lisbon. This Symposium set out to bring together the most recent results of the investigation that has been carried out around the work of the author of Alexandre de Gusmão and the Treaty of Madrid and the History of Brazil in old maps. It was also intended to deepen knowledge about the successive contexts of exile that Jaime Cortesão faced in Europe and Brazil for more than 30 years, with emphasis on those that took place in Republican Spain and in Rio de Janeiro in the 1940s and 1950s. The initiative was also conceived as an opportunity to reflect on Cortesão's important legacy as an editor and translator, as well as to analyze the current status of publishing projects for his work, both in Portugal and in Brazil.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

"For the past 40 years, acclaimed graphic novelist and Love and Rockets co-creator Jaime Hernandez has been privately amassing a body of work that no one else has ever seen--until now. Set in the heyday of 1960s and '70s women's wrestling and lucha libre, Queen of the Ring presents selected pieces from this secret archive, lovingly worked over using materials and processes outside of the scope of his beloved comics work. Threaded with commentary by the author himself, Hernandez's pin-ups, action shots, imagined magazine covers, and sketches present a fictional history of an iconic sport and culture, and an unprecedented look into the artist's creative process"--Back cove

Entre dos mundos : Jaime Ferran

    No full text
Jaime Ferran, poet of the Generation of 50 and author of the Anthology Part, bringing together poets of the so-called School of Barcelona, is an author semidesconocido reader to the general public and even to most specialists poetry 50. Notable among them are the fact of having written most of his work outside of Spain. His professional life in Syracuse, USA, led him to build a work outside the concerns of their classmates and also regardless of the prevailing poetic fashions in Spain especially during the decades of the sixties and seventies. In this biographical fact we should add other life and literary adventures that have made Jaime Ferran a kind of outsider
