Conditions for The Implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility in Small and Medium – Sized Enterprises
The issue of corporate social responsibility, is no longer considered only as a philosophy
which is based on altruism and philanthropy. CSR has become a way for company management,
a concept that in the long run contribute to the wider growth of the company. However,
quite a disturbing common denominator turned discussion and research, is a strong focus
on corporate social responsibility issues mainly in large enterprises and global corporations. Little
attention is given to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the context of their activity
in the implementation and application of the principles of CSR. the aim of this paper is to identify
and analyze the determinants of the use of assumptions concept of corporate social responsibility
(CSR) in the small and medium-sized enterprises. In the empirical part presents the partial results
of the author, on the facts in the application of CSR in the SME sector.
w sektorze małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw. W części empirycznej zaprezentowano cząstkowe
wyniki badań autora, dotyczących stanu faktycznego w zakresie stosowania CSR w sektorze MSP
HR Business Partner as a modern solution for human resources management
Zmieniające się potrzeby przedsiębiorstw w odniesieniu do usług
świadczonych przez działy personalne powodują, że zarządzający zmuszeni
są do poszukiwania nowych rozwiązań w zakresie organizacji i realizacji
funkcji personalnej. W związku z powyższym, celem niniejszego artykułu
jest ukazanie miejsca i roli HR biznes partnera (HR BP), jako
współczesnego rozwiązania w zakresie realizacji funkcji personalnej, oraz
wskazanie kluczowych korzyści i zagrożeń wynikających z funkcjonowania
HR biznes partnera w strukturach przedsiębiorstw. W warstwie
empirycznej zaprezentowano wyniki badań autora, w których dominującą
metodą badawczą była analiza przypadku.Changing needs of the business in relation to the services provided by HR
departments, force managers to look for new solutions in the organization and
implementation of the personnel function. Therefore, the aim of this article is to
show the place and role of HR Business Partner (BP HR) as a modern solution
for the implementation of the personnel function, and identify the key benefits
and risks of the operation of the HR business partner in business structures. The
layer presents the results of an empirical study, in which the dominant method of
research was case study
Determinants and barriers to using the personnel function management control system in the theory and practice of enterprises
Purpose: The purpose of the paper, on both theoretical and practical grounds, is identification and an attempt at evaluating the experiences of implementing and exercising control of the HR processes in enterprises. Design/methodology/approach: The empirical part presents results of a diagnostic survey conducted among a group of 236 enterprises operating in the territory of Poland. Findings: The basic conclusion arising from the conducted research is that the key barrier to implementing advanced HR practices, such as the personnel function management control system, is the perception of the personnel function and the awareness of its importance for the organisation. Research limitations/implications: It is the new HR competencies and the ways of combining the results of implementing the personnel function with the company’s goals and performance that provide an important premise for further research. Originality/value: With regard to the determinants, it has been shown that the source of the capital is most strongly correlated with the application of the HR function management control system. The analysis of the results also enabled identification and characterisation of the most important barriers and limitations to its implementation, which boil down to the perception of the personnel function as not contributing added value to business
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Some Reflections around the Notion of Cooperation
Presently cooperation plays a very important role. It should be stressed, that both in the
economic practice and the general literature there is a lack of homogonous conception and even
definition, which comprehensively describes the phenomenon of cooperation. The paper presents
different opinions and a point of view characterizing the cooperation issue
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
