    Käesoleva töö eesmärgiks oli pildilise modifitseeritud emotsionaalse Go/No-Go katse ning STAI enesekohase küsimustiku abil välja selgitada püsi- ja seisundiärevuse mõju pidurduslikule kontrollile söömishäiretega patsientidel. Valimi moodustasid 32 katseisikut, kellest 10-le oli diagnoositud anorexia nervosa, 11-le bulimia nervosa ning 11 tervet katseisikut moodustasid kontrollgrupi. Läbiviidud katsete abil leiti, et püsi- ja seisundiärevus ei mõjuta pidurduslikku kontrolli emotsionaalses Go/No-Go katses. Tõenäoliselt on pidurduslik kontroll reaktsiooniaegade näol enim mõjutatud emotsionaalsest kaldest stiimulmaterjali vastu

    Antud bakalaureusetöö eesmärgiks oli arendada rakendus Android platvormile, mis kasutaks Go mängu tehisintellekti mootorit ning võimaldaks mängijal Go’d mängida ning arendusprotsessi analüüsida. Töö raames analüüsiti erinevaid Go tehisintellekti algoritme, analüüsiti ning põhjendati erinevaid antud projektiga seotud tehnoloogilisi valikuid ning kirjeldati rakenduse arendusprotsessi algusest lõppuni. Valminud rakendus sisaldab kõiki töö käigus plaanitud funktsioone, kuid kommerts- kõlbliku tooteni jõudmiseks vajab see lisaarendust.The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to develop an application for GNU Go artificial intelligence (AI) engine and analyze the development process from project management point of view. This purpose has been fulfilled as the application is ready and provides the user interface for playing Go board game with AI. Whole development process was carefully managed and analyzed : popular artificial intelligence techniques used in Go were taken into account; development tools choice was explained; project plan with most possible risks was developed before the actual development start and whole development process was documented. The application is developed on Android platform. Eclipse integrated development environment, Android SDK and NDK frameworks were used during development. All tasks planned for this project were successfully implemented, but application requires additional development to be done in order to be published in Google Play Market

    Regulating short-sales

    Short-selling, the practice of selling a security the seller does not own, is done in an attempt to profit from an expected decline in the price of the security. During the recent financial turmoil, many press accounts blamed short-selling for declines in stock prices and even for the collapse of some firms. In "Regulating Short-Sales," Ronel Elul discusses the issue of short-selling. He notes that research has shown that short-selling plays a valuable role in setting accurate prices for securities but that it can also be used to facilitate market manipulation. This latter consideration may provide justification for restricting short-sales under certain circumstances.

    Translation (Mike Tu Awng & Keita Kurabe) The story I will tell now is about "Nang Yut and the Wicked Ning Hpre Woman." A "Ning Hpre Woman" refers to a very violent and evil woman. "Nang Yut" refers to the youngest daughter. Long ago, in a village, there lived a wealthy chief. He married a woman named Nang Yut and they lived happily. They even had a daughter together. While they were living happily like this, one day, another village's chief came to marry his daughter off to this family. Because he brought his daughter to marry, the wealthy chief also married her. This woman had a bulging forehead and a bumpy face, she was not beautiful. She was also mean-spirited, so she was called the Ning Hpre Woman. On the other hand, Nang Yut was honest and, as the first wife, she lived as the lady of the house. The unattractive woman, wanting to take Nang Yut's position, constantly thought of killing Nang Yut. One day, after Nang Yut finished bathing, she was combing her hair with a golden comb on the floor. At that time, the Ning Hpre Woman came to Nang Yut and said, "Sister, let me comb your hair for you." Nang Yut said, "It's okay," "I can do it myself." But the Ning Hpre Woman insisted, "Let me comb your hair for you." So Nang Yut let her comb her hair. While combing her hair, the Ning Hpre Woman dropped the golden comb through a gap in the floor. "Sister, I dropped the comb through a gap in the floor." "The space under the floor is low," "and my back hurts." "Please go and fetch it," she said. Then Nang Yut said, "It's okay," "I have other combs." "We don't need to pick it up." But the Ning Hpre Woman kept insisting, "Please pick it up!" Even when the Ning Hpre Woman wove patterns, "Dut du duu du..." "You are only weaving the patterns I taught you." When the dove said this, the Ning Hpre Woman heard it and thought, "Hmm, this must be Nang Yut." She then pretended to be ill. Pretending to be ill, she neither ate rice nor anything else, and just lay in bed. So the chief asked her, "What's wrong?" "What do you want to eat?" The Ning Hpre Woman said, "I want to eat dove meat," as she had planned. However, Nang Yut's daughter, realizing that the dove was her mother, did not drink the broth and poured it on the ground. The story I will tell now is about "Nang Yut and the Wicked Ning Hpre Woman," Part Two. When Nang Yut's daughter poured the dove broth onto the ground, Nang Yut was reincarnated as a turtle and lived in a lake. She appeared in her daughter's dream and spoke to her. "My daughter, I have become a turtle and live in the lake." "So, come and take care of me." Therefore, every night, her daughter would sneak out from the house to the lake and throw food to the turtle. Nang Yut's daughter, who was previously always sad, became happy knowing that her mother had turned into a turtle, and she would visit her every night, returning home with a smile every night. When Ning Hpre found out about this, she thought, "Hmm, this girl is acting strange." "What could be going on?" She secretly had her children follow Nang Yut's daughter. They discovered that Nang Yut's daughter was feeding the turtle, her mother, every night. So, Ning Hpre plotted how to kill the turtle. She pretended to be sick once more and told the chief, "I will get better if I eat turtle meat." The chief ordered the servants to catch the turtle. Ning Hpre instructed the servants to go to the place where Nang Yut's daughter always went. However, Nang Yut's daughter found out about this and went early to her mother, saying,မိခင်ဆီ စောစောသွားပြီး "Mother, they are coming to catch you!" "Escape to the other side!" So, the servants couldn't catch the turtle. The next day, Ning Hpre said, "Go catch it over there!" but since Nang Yut's daughter warned her mother in advance, they couldn't catch it again. However, after fleeing every day like this, the turtle, Nang Yut, got very tired and told her daughter, "My daughter, I am tired of running away." "I am tired of living as a turtle." "So, let them catch me." The servants caught the turtle and cooked and ate it. Ning Hpre didn't give the turtle meat to Nang Yut's daughter, only the broth. However, she didn't drink it and poured it on the ground. Nang Yut's daughter was very sad. Ning Hpre was very happy that she could kill the turtle. While living like this, in a village not far from theirs, an old woman and her grandson lived. They would go to the fields every day, and when they returned at night, they found delicious food prepared and the house clean and tidy. They couldn't find out who was doing this for them, no matter how much they searched the house. Since this happened every day, one day, they pretended to go to the fields and hid in a corner of the yard to watch. Then, they saw a woman come out of a gourd placed in a corner of the house, cook delicious food, and clean the house. Upon discovering this, the grandson went straight into the house and smashed the gourd in the corner. The woman couldn't return to the gourd and became human. At that moment, the grandson asked the woman, "Who are you?" The woman explained that she was Nang Yut, the chief's wife from a village not far from theirs, and told them everything that had happened so far. Finally, she told them that she was reincarnated in the gourd from the turtle broth poured on the ground by her daughter and that she could come out if they accepted her. The old woman, feeling sorry after hearing Nang Yut's story, sent Nang Yut back to her original village. At that time, Ning Hpre was greatly surprised. The chief, knowing everything that had happened, said, "Only one of you two can live here." "Otherwise, unfortunate things like this will happen again." "I will take only one as my wife." Then, Ning Hpre, wanting to kill Nang Yut, suggested, "Let's fight." "Let's duel with swords." Even though Nang Yut said, "There is no need to fight." "Both of us can live here," Ning Hpre kept insisting on dueling with swords. So, the chief had a very sharp iron sword made for Nang Yut. For Ning Hpre, he had a sword made of lead. At that moment, Ning Hpre found the lead sword too heavy, her heart pounded in shock, and before the duel began, she collapsed and died. Thus, Nang Yut and her daughter lived happily ever after.     Numerical modelling of ice floods in the Ning-Meng reach of the Yellow River basin

    The Ning-Meng reach of the Yellow River basin is located in the Inner Mongolia region at the Northern part of the Yellow River. Due to the special geographical conditions, the river flow direction is towards the North causing the Ning-Meng reach to freeze up every year in wintertime. Both during the freeze-up and break-up period, unfavourable conditions occur which may cause ice jamming and ice dam formation leading to dike breaching and overtopping of the embankment. Throughout history this has often led to considerable casualties and property loss. Enhanced economic development and human activities in theregion have altered the characteristics of the ice regime in recent decades, leading to several ice disasters during freezing or breaking-up periods. The integrated water resources management plan developed by the Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC) outlines the requirements for water regulation in the upper Yellow River during ice flood periods. YRCC is developing measures that not only safeguard against ice floods, but also assure the availability ofadequate water resources. These provide the overall requirements for developing an ice regime forecasting system including lead-time prediction and required accuracy. In order to develop such a system, numerical modelling of ice floods is an essential component of current research at the YRCC, together withfield observations and laboratory experiments. In order to properly model river ice processes it is necessary to adjust the hydrodynamic equations to account for thermodynamic effects. In this research, hydrological and meteorological data from 1950 to 2010 were used to analyse the characteristics of ice regimes in the past. Also, additional field observations were carried out for iceflood model calibration and validation. By combining meteorological forecasting models with statistical models, a medium to short range air temperature forecasting model for the Ning-Meng reach was established. These results were used to improve ice formation modelling and prolong lead-time prediction. The numerical ice flood model developed in this thesis for the Ning-Meng reach allows better forecasting of the ice regime and improved decision support for upstream reservoir regulation and taking appropriate measures for disaster risk reduction.Dissertation submitted in fulfillment of the requirements of the Board for Doctorates of Delft University of Technology and of the Academic Board of the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education.Environmental Fluid Mechanic

    Communication style is a way for a person to convey messages verbally and non-verbally in the hope that it will be conveyed well to the recipient of the message. In receiving da'wah messages, the communication style used by a da'i is considered important to attract the attention of the mad'u so that the da'wah message is well received by the mad'u. The problem in this study is how the communication style used by Ning Umi Laila in the live Comal Pemalang. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive, using Norton's communication style which will produce descriptive data that is emphasized as deeply as possible through the theory of the communication style. The results of this study provide an answer to the problem that the author found several communication styles used by Ning Umi Laila in delivering her lectures. This is in line with the 10 communication styles according to Norton that are applied in the parts of Ning Umi Laila's lectures, namely friendly communication style, animated style, dominant style, dramatic style, open style, argumentative style, relaxed style, attentive style, precise style, and memorable leaving style. Furthermore, for the intonation used by Ning Umi Laila in delivering her lecture using these communication styles, namely dynamic intonation, tempo intonation, and high-pitch intonation in the context of cheerfulness

    Inseparability of Go and Stop in Inhibitory Control: Go Stimulus Discriminability Affects Stopping Behavior

    Inhibitory control, the ability to stop or modify preplanned actions under changing task conditions, is an important component of cognitive functions. Two lines of models of inhibitory control have previously been proposed for human response in the classical stop-signal task, in which subjects must inhibit a default go response upon presentation of an infrequent stop signal: (1) the race model, which posits two independent go and stop processes that race to determine the behavioral outcome, go or stop; and (2) an optimal decision-making model, which posits that observers decides whether and when to go based on continually (Bayesian) updated information about both the go and stop stimuli. In this work, we probe the relationship between go and stop processing by explicitly manipulating the discrimination difficulty of the go stimulus. While the race model assumes the go and stop processes are independent, and therefore go stimulus discriminability should not affect the stop stimulus processing, we simulate the optimal model to show that it predicts harder go discrimination results in a longer go reaction time (RT), a lower stop error rate, as well as a faster stop-signal RT. We then present novel behavioral data that validate these model predictions. The results thus favor a fundamentally inseparable account of go and stop processing, in a manner consistent with the optimal model, and contradicting the independence assumption of the race model. More broadly, our findings contribute to the growing evidence that the computations underlying inhibitory control are systematically modulated by cognitive influences in a Bayes-optimal manner, thus opening new avenues for interpreting neural responses underlying inhibitory control

    Magistritöö Metsamajanduse ja metsaökoloogia õppekavalUurimuse eesmärk oli selgitada metsasektori spetsialistide kasutusharjumusi ruumiandmete, veebipõhiste kaardirakenduste ning GIS tarkvara kasutamise osas ning analüüsida metsaspetsialistide eelistusi erinevate kaardirakenduste lõikes. Uurimuseks vajalikud andmed koguti küsimustiku kaudu, millele vastas 53 metsamajandusega tegelevat spetsialisti nii avalikust- kui erasektorist. Uurimuse tulemusi analüüsides selgus, et metsamajandamisega tegelevad spetsialistid kasutavad oma töös sagedasti metsaregistri ja Maa-ameti avalike teenuseid ning nendes olevaid ruumiandmeid. Ruumiandmete päringute tegemisel on tähtsal kohal ka Fotoladu veebirakendus ning tööandja pakutav geoinfosüsteem. Vähem leiavad rakendust drooniga jäädvustatud ruumiandmed ning kaarditöötlustarkvarad. Uurimuse tulemustele tuginedes joonistusid välja erinevate kaardirakenduste ja ruumiandmete kogumise puudused, millele andis autor võimalikud arengusuunad.The aim of the study was to examine the user habits of spatial data, web-based map applications, and GIS software among forestry sector specialists, as well as to analyze their preferences for different mapping applications. The data needed for the study was collected via a questionnaire, which was answered by 53 forestry specialists from both the public and private sectors. Analysis of the study's results revealed that specialists engaged in forest management frequently use the Forest Register and the Estonian Land Board public services along with the spatial data provided therein. The Fotoladu web application and the employerprovided GIS also play an important role in conducting spatial data queries. Less commonly used are spatial data captured by drones and map processing software. Based on the results of the study, shortcomings in various map applications and spatial data collection methods emerged, for which the author proposed possible development strategies
