A note on in situ estimates of sorption using push-pull tests
No full textA sensitivity analysis reveals that large uncertainty exists in estimates of solute retardation factor R made from sorption push-pull tests. A simplified push-pull data interpretation method for estimating instantaneous linear sorption in confined aquifers is developed. The new method is less restrictive in its application than the conventional method that uses an approximate analytical solution to the push-pull test problem
A finite state Markov quantizer for speech coding
No full textA low-bit-rate codec based on an ergodic hidden Markov model (EHMM) is presented. A 256-state autoregressive Gaussian EHMM is trained on speech uttered by eight different speakers by means of the Baum-Welch algorithm. Initial estimates are obtained from vector quantization. The resulting EHMM is then utilized for a Viterbi decoding of incoming speech data. The state sequence obtained is frame synchronously encoded. The bit rate is gradually lowered by cutting off low-probability transitions and thus reducing the destination state encoding bit allocation requirements. The encoded spectra sequence is used, on the receiver side of the codec, for linear predictive coding synthesis. Global entropy and distortion measures for different bit rates are reported and compared to vector quantization results. Equil. indexes for the reactions trans-[Pt[PEt3)2HCl] + L .rdblhar. trans-[Pt(PEt3)2LH]+ + Cl- in EtOH (L = PPh3, AsPh3, SbPh3, pyridine, 4-cyanopyridine, isopropylamine, and thiourea) have also been measured. The greater the equil. index of the cationic hydrido species the lower is the stretching frequency of the Pt-H bond
Capitolo 63: I CONTRATTI NEL SETTORE DEI BENI CULTURALI
No full textLe tematiche sottese ai contratti del settore dei beni culturali, oggetto di analisi ribardano ladisciplina comune applicabile ai contratti pubblici relativi a beni culturali<, l’ambito di applicazione, cenni sulle procedure di affidamento e l’obbligo di scorporo delle prestazioni; la qualificazione delle imprese e avvalimento; le fasi di progettazione e le varianti in corso d’opera; infine i contratti di sponsorizzazione e le procedure per la selezione di sponsor ( vedasi al leading case del Colosseo e la norativa specie per Pompei). Invero il Codice dei contratti pubblici (d.lgs. 12 aprile 2006, n. 163) ha deciso – in modo opportuno – di fornire una disciplina particolare e di carattere speciale per quanto riguarda i contratti relativi ai beni culturali, per la cui individuazione è necessario operare un rinvio all’art. 10 del d.lgs. 22 gennaio 2004, n. 42.
L’attuale quadro normativo inserisce, dunque, alcune disposizioni derogatorie, necessarie per la particolarità e, in molti casi, delicatezza ed unicità dell’oggetto delle prestazioni previste nei relativi contratti. Il quadro è chiuso da un sistema di rinvii dinamico, in parte a disposizioni interne allo stesso Codice (“in quanto non derogate e ove compatibili, in parte esterne al corpus codicistico, ossia al Regolamento di attuazione del Codice (principalmente agli articoli da 239 a 251 del d.P.R. 5 ottobre 2010, n. 207) ed in altra parte a tre Decreti del Ministro per i beni e le attività culturali (previsti rispettivamente dall’art. 201, comma 3, che permette di definire ulteriori specifici requisiti di qualificazione dei soggetti esecutori; dall’art. 204, comma 3, che riguarda la possibilità di individuare le metodologie di valutazione delle offerte e di attribuzione dei punteggi nelle ipotesi di affidamento di lavori su beni mobili o superfici decorate di beni architettonici, secondo il criterio dell’offerta economicamente più vantaggiosa; e dal successivo comma 4 dello stesso art. 204, consente di individuare particolari tipologie di contratti da poter affidare in economia, ulteriori rispetto a quelli ordinariamente consentiti dall’art. 125 del Codice); più di recente, è stato pubblicato il d.m. 19 dicembre 2012 recante norme tecniche e linee guida per la disciplina delle sponsorizzazioni e fattispecie analoghe o collegate.
In estrema sintesi, le disposizioni del predetto Capo II del Codice (insieme alle relative disposizioni transitorie dell’art. 253 ed a quelle del d.P.R. n. 207/2010) riproducono quelle dell’ormai abrogato d.lgs. 22 gennaio 2004, n. 30, con poche modifiche , avendo prevalso l’esigenza di unificazione e codificazione normativa, nell’effettivo rispetto della autonomia di questo sottosettore, esplicitata dall’apposita previsione del Capo Il del Titolo IV del Codice.
Volendo trarre una prima conclusione, si tratta di istituti e norme ancora in fase di sperimentazione e di sedimentazione con scarsa esperienza applicativa e dati empirici ancora in fieri anche se di recente ha avuto modo di intervenire sulla specifica materia l’Adunanza Plenaria del Consiglio di Stato, con sentenza del 6 agosto 2013, n. 19, chiarendo, nell’ambito delle concessioni miste, i contenuti e limiti degli atti di gara generali nel disciplinare le regole e le garanzie di partecipazione e il rapporto tra lavori di scavo e servizi attinenti la regolamentazione dell’uso e dell’accesso dell’utenza
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
