How corporate governance and globalization can run afoul of the law and good practices in business: The Enron's disgraceful affair.

The purpose of this paper is to set out the Enron’s demise into the perspective of Corporate and Global Governance. To accomplish this target, the incremental cash flow model is expanded to give room for governance issues, while a functional introduction to information sets is developed, including bounded rationality, asymmetric information, opportunistic behavior, transaction costs and agency problems. Then, corporate governance is linked to globalization by means of some recent approaches that go beyond a narrow economic mindset to encompass a far-reaching dynamics. Taking advantage of such background, the Enron’s story is tracked down over a span of fifteen years since its starting day to its bankruptcy filing. Leading events are explained from corporate and global governance viewpoints, while an in-depth analysis is worked out on Enron’s complex game of deception and breach of contracts: the outrageous affiliated limited partnerships, the lavish pay package to its executives, the involvement with global governance through the Indian affair and the Taliban connection. It is for the incremental cash flow model to explain malfeasance with cash flows from assets, and how cash flows to creditors were actually contrived. Furthermore, to highlight how cash flows were swindled from stockholders and, finally, how Enron made wheeling and dealing with cash flows on behalf of its managers.corporate governance, global governance, incremental cash flow model, globalization, information sets, good practices.

In the following investigation a new alternative will be studied for the determination of the liquid limit, by the use of the penetration cone. This method is based on the penetration of a metallic cone into a soil sample, from a static position in which its tip slightly touches the flush surface of the soil. The cones used in this test are the CONIN HINDU with an angle of 31 1 at its tip and 148gr of mass and the CONE OF THE GEORGIA TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE with an angle of 300 at its tip and 75gr of mass. Of vernacular housing with all its additions, furnishings, that allows the visitor to know in situ ways of life that still persist in the rural areas of our province. Formally it has been tried not to fall in a foiclorismo, nor in the mythification of the popular culture, although important typological elements of the constructions of the site are taken up, has been included deliberately, modern elements that show a clear typomorfológica reading and that define the Temporality of the place. In order to achieve a personal, more communicative and more architectural graphic expression, the author includes perspectives worked with techniques such as watercolor and airbrushing, giving him greater graphic-expressive richness to the project

The guiding research question is how to read the political violence in the Southern Cone authors who write texts for children. To test some answers, we will take as theoretical tools the studies addressing memory conducted by Elizabeth Jelin (2002) and Rossana Nofal’s hypothesis that the horror of Argentina’s military dictatorship is communicable through kids fiction. This work is a continuation of a study that focused on the texts by authors of Argentinian children’s literature. We propose to expand boundaries and explore texts for children by Uruguayan author Mauricio Rosencof to advance their ways of telling the concentration experience

Chem., A104, 3915 (2000)Author Institution: Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, Kyushu University, HakozakiInfrared spectrum of CoNO has been measured in low temperature Ar matrix and the ν1\nu_{1} and ν3\nu_{3} band origins were reported to be 1761.0 and 620.1cm1620.1 cm^{-1} respectively.arespectively.^{a} Recent DFT calculations suggested that the linear form (X1Σ)(X^{1}\Sigma) and bent form (X3A)(X^{3}A^{\prime}) of CoNO have almost the same energies.aenergies.^{a} In the present study, the pure rotational spectrum of CoNO generated in a supersonic jet expansion by ultraviolet photolysis of Co(CO)3NOCo(CO)_{3}NO was observed in the millimeter-wave region. This is the first observation of the rotationally resolved spectrum of the transition metal nitrosyl in the gas phase. Seven rotational transitions (from J=65J = 6 - 5 to 121112 - 11) were measured in the frequency region of 5611256 - 112 GHz. Each rotational transition was split into 8118-11 components due to hyperfine interaction of the Co (I=7/2)(I = 7/2) nucleus. The spectrum was analyzed to determine molecular constants, including the rotational constant B, centrifugal distortion constant D, nuclear quadrupole interaction constant eQq, and nuclear spin-rotation interaction constant CIC_{I}. From the observed spectral pattern, it is confirmed that CoNO has a linear structure and the electronic ground state is 1Σ^{1}\Sigma. The Co-N bond length was calculated to be 1.588 \AA from the rotational constant, which is by 0.1 \AA shorter than the Co-C bond length of CoCO. Measurement of rotational transitions in the ν2\nu_{2} vibrationally excited state is in progress

Chemoembolization, Radioembolization, and Percutaneous Ablation: New Opportunities for Treating Ovarian Cancer Liver Metastasis

    No full text
Parenchymal liver metastases from ovarian cancer, occurring in 2–12.5% of cases, significantly worsen prognosis. While surgery and systemic treatments remain primary options, unresectable or chemotherapy-resistant multiple liver metastases pose a significant challenge. Recent advances in liver-directed therapies, including radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, cryoablation, transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), and radioembolization, offer potential treatment alternatives. However, the efficacy of these techniques is limited by factors such as tumor size, number, and location. The ideal candidate for tumor ablation is a patient with paucifocal disease, a single tumor up to 5 cm or up to 3 tumors smaller than 3 cm and tumors 1 cm away from major bile ducts and high-flow vessels. Transarterial chemoembolization could be performed in patients with less than 70% tumor load. Differently, radioembolization is available with less limitation on the sites or number of liver cancers. Radioembolization techniques are also able to downsize liver metastases. However, there are limited data regarding the outcomes of loco-regional therapy in patients with hepatic metastases from ovarian cancer. Advancing liver-directed therapies through interventional oncology, combined with robust data on the oncological efficacy of these local treatments, will validate their potential as effective locoregional therapies for liver metastases. This could offer a promising treatment option for patients with ovarian cancer and unresectable hepatic metastases
