Giuseppe Girola è stato uno studioso di numismatica, aveva come principali tematiche di ricerca la monetazione aksumita, quella medievale e moderna di zecche minori dell’Italia settentrionale e la circolazione monetaria nei territori delle Colonie italiane. La sua passione per la storia antica e contemporanea del Corno d’Africa è stata influenzata dalla figura di suo zio, un militare che fu di stanza in Etiopia e in Somalia durante l’Amministrazione Fiduciaria Italiana. Giuseppe Girola ha anche sviluppato un interesse per la storia della sua città natale, Como, e per le valli vicine della provincia di Sondrio, come la Valtellina e la Valchiavenna, dove aveva una casa di vacanza. Il suo approccio alla numismatica consisteva nel collegare le monete alla storia e all’economia contemporanee, e si riflette nella sua ampia bibliografia e nella sua attenzione alle fonti storiche.Giuseppe Girola was a numismatic scholar, his main research topics were the Aksumite coinage, the medieval and modern coinage of minor mints in northern Italy and the circulation of coins in the territories of the Italian colonies. His passion for the ancient and contemporary history of the Horn of Africa was influenced by the figure of his uncle, a soldier who was stationed in Ethiopia and Somalia during the Italian Trusteeship. Giuseppe Girola also developed an interest in the history of his hometown, Como, and in the nearby valleys of the province of Sondrio, such as Valtellina and Valchiavenna, where he had a holiday home. His approach to numismatics was to link coins to contemporary history and economics, and this is reflected in his extensive bibliography and attention to historical sources

Through a presentation of a fragment of her methodological itinerary in the study of homeless people's identity strategies, the author underlines the importance of field-work as the matrix for understanding the social reality being observed. The multiplicity of identities, both of the researcher and of the agents of the study emerge from their encounter ; which is viewed as a process of mutual understanding and self-knowledge. Here in lies the fertility of this reflexive approach especially when working with people experiencing extreme pauverty and continual stigmatization. For such an analysis undermines reducing representations of these «solitary and rootless figures», thus revealing the complexities of their biographical histories, in a social context.Itinéraire méthodologique d'un anthropologue : la réflexivité, un choix théorico-méthodologkjue ou comment dépasser le récit de la présentation.

En exposant un fragment de son itinéraire méthodologique dans l'étude des stratégies identitaires des personnes sans-abri, l'auteur a voulu signaler l'importance du travail de terrain (d'un point de vue d'une anthropologie réflexive) comme l'instance même de la production de la connaissance de la réalité sociale qu'on se propose de comprendre. Dans la rencontre entre chercheur et acteurs de la recherche considérée comme un processus d'interconnaissance active émerge la multiplicité de leurs appartenances réciproques. C'est là toute la richesse de cette démarche réflexive, surtout losqu'on travaille avec des personnes en situation de précarité extrême et de stigmatisation permanente. Ce processus analytique contribue à briser les images et les représentations réductrices dont sont «victimes» ces «hommes seuls, sans lien ni lieu» en permettant la reconnaissance de la complexité de leurs appartenances individuelles dans un monde social.Girola Claudia M. Imaginarios urbanos en zonas verdes y zonas rojas de la Región Metropolitana de Buenos Aires

Para llevar a cabo este objetivo abordaré, desde una perspectiva etnográfica, los imaginarios elaborados por parte de habitantes de dos contextos urbano-residenciales. En el contexto de la ciudad moderna histórica, focalizaré la atención en viviendas de interés social edificadas bajo la modalidad del gran conjunto urbano en el barrio central de Villa Soldati. En el marco de la denominada ciudad moderna reciente me detendré en las nuevas situaciones residenciales periféricas que se han instaurado bajo diferentes tipos de urbanizaciones cerradas (barrios cerrados, mini-barrios y mega-emprendimientos, entre otros) en torno al Km 50 del partido de Pila
Thermal photogrammetry on a permafrost rock wall for the active layer monitoring
Permafrost and active layer models often cannot explain the high spatial variability, especially in heterogeneous environments like the mountainous regions due to their scarce resolution, paucity of climatic data and topographic details. In this study, we want to introduce a new application of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in thermal photogrammetry to model the active layer thickness (ALT) of an alpine rock wall through the computation of the thermal inertia and compare the results with a widespread ALT model. On the Gran Zebrù South rock wall, 8 thermal UAV surveys has been conducted in 4 different summer days during 2021-2022 in order to have two 3D thermal models per day at different solar radiation inputs. By analyzing topographic data, visible imagery and the thermal models, the apparent thermal inertias (ATIs) have been converted into heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) and then into ALT of 2021 and 2022. These maps have been validated through the placement of thermistors at different elevations and with variable depths (2, 15 and 40 cm from the rock surface). The resulting ALT has been compared with the Stefan's solution and the alpine permafrost index map (APIM), which showed large underestimations and a noncorrespondence with permafrost occurrence. The average ALT increase of 29.3 cm from 2021 to 2022 has been discussed regarding permafrost formation/degradation future trend under the climatic change and potential risks of alpine areas
Left ventricular hypertrophy and QT interval in obesity and in hypertension : effects of weight loss and of normalisation of blood pressure
BACKGROUND: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and prolonged QT interval at ECG (QTc) are common in both obesity and arterial hypertension (AH), and are risk factors for cardiovascular disease and sudden death. METHODS: We compared the frequencies of LVH (ECG criteria) and QTc in obese-AH (n = 41), in normotensive obese (n = 75), in lean-AH (n = 30), and in lean controls (n = 68) comparable for age and sex; in obese patients, LVH and QTc were evaluated under basal conditions and 1 y later, that is, after a significant weight loss induced by bariatric surgery. RESULTS: LVH was more frequent, and QTc was longer, in obese-AH, in normotensive obese, and in lean-AH than in lean controls; after weight loss, frequency of LVH decreased in obese subjects becoming normotensive (n = 87), not in obese subjects remaining hypertensive (n = 29), while QTc decreased in all obese subjects. CONCLUSION: Weight loss can effectively reduce QTc; when concomitant AH disappears, weight loss can also reduce the prevalence of LVH. In obese patients remaining hypertensive, aggressive pharmacological treatment is therefore indicated to correct LVH
Signo pictórico y signo escultórico en Francisco Méndez y Claudio Girola
This paper studies the concept of sign in the painter Francisco Méndez and the sculptor Claudio Girola, members of the School of Architecture of Valparaíso. It will contextua-lize this practice, understood as an ephemeral plastic gesture associated with the poetic act, and will review some examples made by Girola in the Travesía Amereida (1965) and others led by Méndez in the travesías to Cape Froward (1984) and Curamahuida (1986).It will be suggested that the sign defined part of the individual work of these artists: in the case of Méndez, in the practice of the pintura no alberagda, and in that of Girola, in the material diversity employed. Finally, it will be proposed the existence of a signic turn that determined a particular aesthetic characterized by emergence and material precariousness.Este trabajo estudia el concepto de signo en el pintor Francisco Méndez y en el escultor Claudio Girola, miembros de la Escuela de Arquitectura de Valparaíso. Se ocupará de contextualizar esta práctica, entendida como un gesto plástico efímero asociado al acto poético, y se revisarán algunos ejemplos realizados por Girola en la travesía Amereida (1965) y otros liderados por Méndez en las travesías a cabo Froward (1984) y a Curamahuida (1986). Se sugerirá que el signo definió parte del quehacer individual de estos artistas: en el caso de Méndez, en la práctica de la pintura no albergada, y en el de Girola, en la diversidad material empleada. Finalmente, se propondrá la existencia de un giro sígnico que determinó una particular estética caracterizada por la emergencia y la precariedad material
