    Social sustainability in the age of digitalization: A systematic literature Review on the social implications of industry 4.0

    The fourth industrial revolution has turned into a reality during the past few years, and, as a result, the related literature has grown at an unprecedented rate, offering valuable insights into the possible impacts of Industry 4.0 at various analysis levels. Investigating the economic effects of Industry 4.0, especially at the corporate level, has been a cutting-edge research topic across various disciplines. Similarly, several studies have addressed the opportunities that Industry 4.0 might offer to environmental sustainability. On the contrary, the social sustainability implications of Industry 4.0 are less explored in the literature. Unlike the overoptimism around the economic benefits, academia remains quite inconsistent while interpreting the social aspects linked to Industry 4.0. Trying to shed some light on this issue, this research conducts a state-of-the-art systematic review of academic papers and a Machine Learning-based analysis of grey literature on the social implications of Industry 4.0. Contributing to this very relevant and fresh topic, the study summarizes the ongoing trends on social sustain ability consequences of Industry 4.0, highlights the existing gaps, and proposes exciting avenues for future research

    Industry 4.0 literature has grown at an unprecedented rate, offering valuable insights into the possible impacts of the digital industrial revolution at various analysis levels. Investigating the economic effects of Industry 4.0, especially at the corporate level, has been a cutting-edge research topic across various disciplines. Similarly, several studies have addressed the opportunities that Industry 4.0 might offer to environmental sustainability. Overall, the existing literature presents numerous studies – empirical, theoretical, and reviews alike – optimistically discussing how Industry 4.0 would contribute to sustainable development goals from different perspectives, such as manufacturing productivity, business growth, resource efficiency, reduced waste, and emission reduction (Oztemel & Gursev, 2019). On the contrary, the social sustainability implications of Industry 4.0 tend to be neglected by the current literature (Tirabeni et al., 2019). Unlike the overoptimism around the economic benefits, academia remains somewhat inconsistent while interpreting the social aspects linked to Industry 4.0. The present research fills this gap by conducting a state-of-the-art systematic review of the Industry 4.0 literature focusing on social sustainability implications. It remains unclear which feature differentiates roadmap approaches and which are the main differences in their application. To fill this gap, we propose a multi-dimensional framework attempting to put order in the current digitalization roadmap literature and allowing future research to be better contextualised. We also applied some roadmap methods in real case studies to identify the main characteristics of the digitalization roadmap approaches, to show the practical differences that exist between different approach classes, and to suggest some dimensions for comparing them

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Behind the definition of Industry 5.0: a systematic review of technologies, principles, components, and values

    This study addresses the emerging concept of Industry 5.0, which aims to tackle societal concerns associated with the ongoing digital industrial transformation. However, there is still a lack of consensus on the definition and scope of Industry 5.0, as well as limited understanding of its technological components, design principles, and intended values. To bridge these knowledge gaps, the study conducts a content-centric review of relevant literature and synthesizes evidence to develop an architectural design for Industry 5.0. The findings reveal that Industry 5.0 represents the future of industrial transformation, offering potential solutions to socio-economic and environmental issues that were inadequately addressed or exacerbated by Industry 4.0. The study provides managers, industrialists, and policymakers with a comprehensive overview of Industry 5.0, including its technological constituents, design principles, and smart components, emphasizing the importance of stakeholder involvement and integration for effective governance of digital industrial transformation within this framework
