Self-healing hydrogels incorporating hyaluronic acid, poly(acrylic acid), and ferric ions for flexible sensors, and wound healing
This dataset contains data and results from a project focused on the development of multifunctional hydrogels composed of polyacrylic acid (pAAc), hyaluronic acid (HA), and ferric ions (Fe3+) used as non-covalent crosslinkers. The hydrogels were synthesized via a simple one-pot method. The project explores how varying HA content influences the mechanical, adhesive, and functional properties of the resulting materials.Systematic rheological and mechanical testing revealed that incorporating HA improves tensile strength, toughness, and elasticity while preserving the integrity of the polymer network. Notably, the hydrogels demonstrated strong adhesion to a range of surfaces (e.g., porcine tissue) and exhibited excellent self-healing capabilities.Among the formulations tested, the hydrogel containing 0.6% HA (pAAc/Fe3+/HA-0.6%) showed the best balance of mechanical strength and self-healing behavior and was selected for further evaluation. Electrical resistance measurements confirmed its potential as a flexible, wearable sensor, with stable and repeatable responses to deformation. Additional assays indicated that the hydrogel supports wound healing and possesses both antibacterial and antioxidant activity.The data and analyses provided here support the development of robust, biocompatible hydrogels for potential use in wound care, wearable electronics, and other biomedical applications.</p
Rapid photoinduced self-healing, controllable drug release, skin adhesion ability, and mechanical stability of hydrogels incorporating linker-modified gold nanoparticles and nanogels
This dataset comes from a study exploring how to improve thermoresponsive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (pNIPAm) hydrogels for use in biomedical applications like drug delivery. To boost their performance, we added a custom-made cross-linker derived from natural amino acids called N,N′-bis(acryloyl)cystine (BISS), gold nanoparticles (GNPs) that bond through gold–sulfur interactions, and small nanogels made from the same pNIPAm-BISS material. These additions helped the hydrogels become stronger, heal themselves faster after damage, stick better to skin, and release drugs more effectively. We observed that the mechanical strength improved by about 65%, and the gels could stretch 25% more. Using a near-infrared (NIR) laser (800 nm, 0.75 W), the gels healed up to 85% in just 2 minutes. Drug release was also much better, reaching 0.08 mg/mL—almost double compared to unmodified gels. The data includes results from mechanical tests, drug release experiments, healing tests with NIR light, and temperature response studies. Altogether, these materials show good promise for smart biomedical systems that respond to light and heat.</p
Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) hydrogel crosslinked with laponite and loaded with Au nanoparticles for sensitive motion sensor with improved mechanical stability, conductivity, and controllable releasing ability
This dataset relates to the development of multifunctional nanocomposite hydrogels (P(NIPA_Lap_AuNP)) designed for wearable sensing and drug delivery applications. By incorporating gold nanoparticles into laponite-crosslinked poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) hydrogels, the study achieved enhanced mechanical properties, including high tensile strength, stretchability, toughness, and fatigue resistance. The hydrogels also exhibited excellent strain sensitivity and controllable drug release behavior under near-infrared (NIR) stimulation, supporting their potential for smart therapeutic patches and motion sensing devices.</p
Multifunctional dynamic hydrogels crosslinked with boronic ester and disulfide bonds reinforced with oxidized cellulose nanofibers for self-healing, motion sensing, and controlled drug release
This study presents a novel multifunctional dynamic hydrogel, cross-linked with boronic ester and disulfide bonds, and incorporating oxidized bacterial cellulose nanofibers (OBCNF). The OBCNF content was optimized to achieve a material with optimal mechanical properties. The presence of dynamic boronic ester and disulfide bonds enabled efficient self-healing behavior. Moreover, the hydrogel proved to be highly effective as a flexible sensor for monitoring motion. It demonstrated stable changes in conductivity under mechanical deformation, making it suitable for applications in wearable electronics. The hydrogel also exhibited specific degradation behavior in acidic and oxidative environments, where disulfide bonds and boronic ester linkages were selectively cleaved, leading to controlled degradation of the material. Additionally, the hydrogels were shown to be cytocompatible and enable pH-dependent release of incorporated doxorubicin (DOX), with significantly higher release rates observed at lower pH, with an increase of total amount of DOX release from ~20% to ~70% when decreasing the pH from 7.4 to 5.1. These properties make the hydrogel promising from the point of view of biomedical applications. Altogether, we introduced a dynamic hydrogel based on dual dynamic covalent bond crosslinking as promising approach for development of multifaceted smart materials.</p

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
