    The two dimensional N=(2,2) Wess-Zumino model in the functional renormalization group approach

    We study the supersymmetric N=(2,2) Wess-Zumino model in two dimensions with the functional renormalization group. At leading order in the supercovariant derivative expansion we recover the nonrenormalization theorem which states that the superpotential has no running couplings. Beyond leading order the renormalization of the bare mass is caused by a momentum dependent wave function renormalization. To deal with the partial differential equations we have developed a numerical toolbox called FlowPy. For weak couplings the quantum corrections to the bare mass found in lattice simulations is reproduced with high accuracy. But in the regime with intermediate couplings higher-order-operators that are not constrained by the nonrenormalization theorem yield the dominating contribution to the renormalized mas

    The fermion loop formulation naturally separates partition functions into their canonical sectors. Here we discuss various strategies to make use of this for supersymmetric SU(N) Yang-Mills quantum mechanics obtained from dimensional reduction in various dimensions and present numerical results for the separate canonical sectors with fixed fermion numbers. We comment on potential problems due to the sign of the contributions from the fermions and due to flat directions

    Revisar los caminos de ida y vuelta de las vibrantes artistas, que con sus obras han demostrado una alta dosis de complejidad y coherencia, es fundamental para reconocer la forma en la que hoy en día nos acercamos a ellas. Si bien es ideal que estas figuras no estén mitificadas, tenemos la inmensa tarea de reconstruir y abrir la multiplicidad programática que tiene la producción artística de estas mujeres. Una de ellas es Léna Bergner. De origen eslavo-alemán, esta artista textil nació en Coburgo, Alemania en 1906 y falleció en Basilea, Suiza en 1981. Esta investigación parte de una empatía y conexión personal con la vida y obra de esta artista, en la que es posible encontrar una gran complejidad en sus piezas. Así pues, la razón esencial de este proyecto es observar, analizar y rememorar la fuerza, la conciencia histórica y la pertinencia de su producción desde algu- nos de los fragmentos artísticos, como textos, dibujos, piezas textiles y gráficas que Bergner realizó en su paso por Ciudad de México en la década de 1940.Historiador del ArtePregrad

    Compactified N = 1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory on the lattice: continuity and the disappearance of the deconfinement transition

    Fermion boundary conditions play a relevant role in revealing the confinement mechanism of N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with one compactified space-time dimension. A deconfinement phase transition occurs for a sufficiently small compactification radius, equivalent to a high temperature in the thermal theory where antiperiodic fermion boundary conditions are applied. Periodic fermion boundary conditions, on the other hand, are related to the Witten index and confinement is expected to persist independently of the length of the compactified dimension. We study this aspect with lattice Monte Carlo simulations for different values of the fermion mass parameter that breaks supersymmetry softly. We find a deconfined region that shrinks when the fermion mass is lowered. Deconfinement takes place between two confined regions at large and small compactification radii, that would correspond to low and high temperatures in the thermal theory. At the smallest fermion masses we find no indication of a deconfinement transition. These results are a first signal for the predicted continuity in the compactification of supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory

    Owing to confinement, the fundamental particles of N = 1 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theory, gluons and gluinos, appear only in colourless bound states at zero temperature. Compactifying the Euclidean time dimension with periodic boundary conditions for fermions preserves supersymmetry, and confinement is predicted to persist independently of the length of the compactified dimension. This scenario can be tested non-perturbatively with Monte-Carlo simulations on a lattice. SUSY is, however, broken on the lattice and can be recovered only in the continuum limit. The partition function of compactifiedN =1 SYM theory with periodic fermion boundary conditions corresponds to theWitten index. Therefore it can be used to test whether supersymmetry is realized on the lattice. Results of our recent numerical simulations are presented, supporting the disappearance of the deconfinement transition in the supersymmetric limit and the restoration of SUSY at low energies
