Altun, Ishak/0000-0002-7967-0554; Samet, Bessem/0000-0002-6769-3417In this paper, we present a new class of pseudo Picard operators in the setting of generalized metric spaces introduced recently in [M. JLELI AND B. SAMET: A generalized metric space and related fixed point theorems, Fixed Point Theory Appl., (2015) 2015:61]. An example is provided to illustrate the main result.Deanship of Scientific Research at King Saud UniversityDeanship of Scientific Research at King Saud University [RGP-237]The second author extends his appreciation to the Deanship of Scientific Research at King Saud University for funding this work through research group No RGP-237

KARAPINAR, ERDAL/0000-0002-6798-3254We introduce two classes of Meir-Keeler type contractions in the framework of JS-metric spaces introduced by Jleli and Samet (2015). For each class, a fixed point result is derived. Some interesting consequences which follow from our obtained results are discussed.King Saud University (Saudi Arabia)The second author extends his appreciation to Distinguished Scientist Fellowship Program (DSFP) at King Saud University (Saudi Arabia)

Cataloged from PDF version of article.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 76-80).A fan can be anyone who has both potential media consumer and producer. Fandom as we call, is a community of fans interested in a specific media context such as actor, author or TV series. This study is about the developing fandom around eSports (electronic sports) in Turkey, analyzing game fans interaction with League of Legends which has become a product of popular culture. To investigate eSports fandom, this study relies on interviews with professional and amateur players and virtual ethnographic methods. Findings of the interviews and ethnographic data aim to ground the similarities between League of Legends players reproducing and code switching techniques in the light of Anglo American studies on series and movie fandom.by Samet Taygun Özbıçakçı

Equity as a vehicle for law reform: The case of unilateral mistake

    No full text
In this paper I ask whether English Law should permit rescission for unilateral mistakes in the formation of contract, in circumstances where the defendant (D) knew or should have known about the claimant’s (C) mistake, and if so, should Equity be (re)employed to deploy the remedy. The paper introduces the Caveat Emptor Common Law rule on this issue, which rules out rescission, and the various considerations that count in its favour. I argue that neither considerations from efficiency, nor those based in ethics can justify the current rule, and that new, flexible and morally-sensitive resolution is called for. If we examine the way in which Equity intervenes to reform areas of law where the Common Law fails to provide a satisfactory solution to legal disputes, we will see that the Caveat Emptor rule displays exactly the kind of defects that Equity does a very good job at remedying. The law on the duty to disclose information at the precontractual stage emerges as an excellent example for Equity’s great potential as a vehicle for improving the law in a measured, nuanced and imaginative way.Peer reviewe

On Fixed Points of Generalized α-φ Contractive Type Mappings in Partial Metric Spaces

Recently, Samet et al. (B. Samet, C. Vetro and P. Vetro, Fixed point theorem for α\alpha-ψ\psi contractive type mappings, Nonlinear Anal. 75 (2012), 2154--2165) introduced a very interesting new category of contractive type mappings known as α\alpha-ψ\psi contractive type mappings. The results obtained by Samet et al. generalize the existing fixed point results in the literature, in particular the Banach contraction principle. Further, Karapinar and Samet (E. Karapinar and B. Samet, Generalized α\alpha-ψ\psi-contractive type mappings and related fixed point theorems with applications, Abstract and Applied Analysis 2012 Article ID 793486, 17 pages doi:10.1155/2012/793486) generalized the α\alpha-ψ\psi contractive type mappings and established some fixed point theorems for this generalized class of contractive mappings. In (G. S. Matthews, Partial metric topology, Ann. New York Acad. Sci. 728 (1994), 183--197), the author introduced and studied the concept of partial metric spaces, and obtained a Banach type fixed point theorem on complete partial metric spaces. In this paper, we establish the fixed point theorems for generalized α\alpha-ψ\psi contractive mappings in the context of partial metric spaces. As consequences of our main results, we obtain fixed point theorems on partial metric spaces endowed with a partial order and that for cyclic contractive mappings. Our results extend and strengthen various known results. Some examples are also given to show that our generalization from metric spaces to partial metric spaces is real

Author Reputation Measurement on Question and Answer Sites by the Classification of Author-Generated Content

In the field of software engineering, practitioners' share in the constructed knowledge cannot be underestimated and is mostly in the form of grey literature (GL). GL is a valuable resource though it is subjective and lacks an objective quality assurance methodology. In this paper, a quality assessment scheme is proposed for question and answer (Q;A) sites. In particular, we target stack overflow (SO) and stack exchange (SE) sites. We model the problem of author reputation measurement as a classification task on the author-provided answers. The authors' mean, median, and total answer scores are used as inputs for class labeling. State-of-the-art language models (BERT and DistilBERT) with a softmax layer on top are utilized as classifiers and compared to SVM and random baselines. Our best model achieves 63.8% accuracy in binary classification in SO design patterns tag and 71.6% accuracy in SE software engineering category. Superior performance in SE software engineering can be explained by its larger dataset size. In addition to quantitative evaluation, we provide qualitative evidence, which supports that the system's predicted reputation labels match the quality of provided answers

A scripture containing Turkish proverbs in the manuscript department of Orient Faculty of Leningrad (at present, Petersburg) State University, was prepared by Samet Alizadai and it was published from Yazıcı Neşriyat in Baku in 1987 under the name of Oğuzname. Some reviews were contributed on this book that has Azeri Turkish tendencies; however, even they have emphasized the significance of the edition, there isn't any study that has been done precisely and in detailed on the missings and mistakes of the edition. In this article, by considering the microfilm of the original version of the book in Leningrad, the text written in Arabic lerters and Samet Alizadai's edition were compared and 1) page disorders, 2) misreadings, 3) the words that Sarnet Alizadai couldn't read and showed as blanks, 4) some proverbs that aren't existed even in the scripture, 5) incoherency between the words adapted to Azeri Turkish, 6) words that Samet Alizadai hadn't written because oftheir immoral content, 7) mistakes in 'Notes and Explanations' and 'Glossary' at the end of the edition are investigated, and examples are submitted as it could be accessed within the article. Whole of the scripture was read by canceming the microfilm by the author of the article (Nuri Yüce) and prepared for publishing
