Una retórica de la inmediatez: los Diarios de Gerardo Gandini

    No full text
Gerardo Gandini (1936-2013) developed since the late 60s a musical poetics which main attribute rests on the aesthetical availability of the materials provided by the history of Western music. The reinterpretation of materials coming from different historical contexts shaped Gandini's work as a complex intertextual framework. The availability principle was also extended to all kinds of aesthetic genres. His Diaries project the literary diary and the cycle of pieces, intertwining musical, literary and pictorial imaginaries. The article studies the Diaries by Gandini with the focus posed on: a) empirical aspects related to dating and work's constitution problems; b) the ways his intertextual poetics assume compositional shape –to that end two pieces, "... pájaro profeta (I)" (Diary III) and "Fontana: modelo" (Diary IV), are thoroughly analyzed; c) the aesthetical problems that poses the genre adscription, implied in the works' title as well as in the production and reception conditions of these pieces; and finally, d) several layers of meaning resulting from these aspects.Fil: Fessel, Pablo. Dichotomius guaranii Gandini & Aguilar This species was considered by its authors to be closely related to D. nisus (Olivier). A close examination of the photograph in the original publication (Gandini & Aguilar 2009), and of the original description, lead us to the conclusion that this species belongs to the subgenus Selenocopris, and that it may be closely related to D. bicuspis (Germar). Our conclusion is based in the glabrous metasternal sides, oblong form of the center of the sixth abdominal ventrite, head and pronotal sculpture, and the overall similarity of the photographed specimen to females in the D. bicuspis species group. The D. bicuspis species group is in need of revision and we have identified female specimens of several undescribed species, which do not always express the main character defining the subgenus Selenocopris (angled form of the clypeogenal border).Published as part of Nunes, Rafael V. & Vaz-De-Mello, Fernando Z., 2013, New brachypterous species of Dichotomius Hope, with taxonomic notes in the subgenus Luederwaldtinia Martínez (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae), pp. 411-420 in Zootaxa 3609 (4) on page 416, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3609.4.3, http://zenodo.org/record/22405

Mariuccia Gandini nella vita e nell’opera di Felice Casorati (1920-24)

This paper reconstructs the forgotten biography of Mariuccia Gandini (1897-1924), a fundamental figure in the life and work of Felice Casorati (1883-1963), the major painter of Italian Magic Realism. Archival researches and new findings allow to overcome the oblivion followed to her early death. Her role was not limited to the sentimental relationship with the painter, but involves her work as a model and creative companion, as the two shared interest for music (Gandini, sister of a Turinese composer, was a celebrated pianist herself). The paper also traces her presence in paintings and drawings, from actual portraits to more ambiguous dedications or allusions, that were importantly collected in Casorati's solo exhibition at the Venice biennial in 1924

Vitamin D serum levels in children with vernal keratoconjunctivitis and disease control

The aim of this study was to evaluate whether the control of ocular symptoms with cyclosporine or with tacrolimus in eye drops allows to improve sun exposure and therefore serum level of vitamin D (VD; 25OHD), in the more severe forms of vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC). Out of 242 children followed for active VKC, 94 were treated with 1% cyclosporine or 0.1% tacrolimus eye drops, while the other 148 with mild VKC did not need to be treated with immunomodulators. VD serum levels were measured in spring and autumn in 71 children. In total, 60 of them were treated with cyclosporine eye drops (first group) and 11 (not responding to cyclosporine therapy previously) with 0.1% tacrolimus eye drops (second group) between March and November 2016. Pre-treatment median values of VD were 23.7 ng/mL in the first group and 23.8 in the second group, and post-treatment values increased up to 32.8 and 32.9 ng/mL, respectively. Before treatment, 33% presented a deficiency (25OHD < 20 ng/mL), and at the end of summer, only 4% were deficient. The overweight children had lower improvement in VD serum levels than children with a body mass index (BMI) lower than 85th percentile. Children in therapy with cyclosporine, but requiring the administration of local steroid therapy during the summer for control of the symptoms, showed a greater improvement in 25OHD serum levels in ng/mL (23-37 ng/mL) than children who did not require steroid therapy (24-35 ng/mL). Furthermore, there was a significant difference in change of 25OHD in children presenting limbal VKC (21-41 ng/mL) versus tarsal VKC (24-35 ng/mL) ( P = 0.04). Our study suggests that ocular treatment carried out with immunomodulator eye drops could allow for an improvement in 25OHD serum levels. In children with active VKC and at risk of 25OHD deficiency, likely due to avoidance of sun exposure, the role of other risk factors (BMI, phototype and treatment) on 25OHD serum levels should be considered

Dichotomius (Luederwaldtinia) joelus Gandini and Aguilar, 2009: 143. This species have been assigned to the Dichotomius batesi species-group, however it lacks the main diagnostic character of batesi group that is the ocellate punctures on pronotal disc - “ El disco (del pronotum) casi liso, com puntos superficiales pequeños ” (disc almost smooth, with small superficial punctures) (Gandini & Aguilar, 2009). After examining original description, pictures, and one couple of paratypes, we concluded that this name is a new synonym of Dichotomius opacipennis (Luederwaldt, 1931), then belonging to the Dichotomius geminatus speciesgroup as defined by Nunes and Vaz-de-Mello (2013). As several syntypes of D. opacipennis were examined and all correspond to the same species, we will include their listing and lectotype designation in the ongoing revision of that species-group.Published as part of Vaz-De-Mello, Fernando Z. & Nunes, Rafael V., 2016, New species, redescription and taxonomic notes in the Dichotomius (Luederwaldtinia) batesi (Harold) species-group (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae), pp. 294-300 in Zootaxa 4139 (2) on page 298, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4139.2.12, http://zenodo.org/record/26482
