Філософський аналіз впливу алгоритмів соціальних мереж на політичну свідомість і поведінку
Get PDFThe article deals with the theoretical analysis of algorithmic management of political consciousness in network society and democracy. The author investigates how social network algorithms affect information space formation, creating «echo chambers» and strengthening political polarization. Important aspects of the analysis are the transparency, accountability, and fairness of algorithmic systems, which play a key role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of democratic processes. Special attention is paid to ethical challenges, such as protecting user privacy and avoiding manipulating public opinion. The author also examines the specifics of the Ukrainian context, where information warfare and disinformation campaigns create additional challenges for democratic institutions. The article proposes a five-component model of ethical and regulatory governance of algorithms, which includes transparency, accountability, equality of access, privacy protection, and fair use of data. Prospects for further research include the analysis of the impact of different algorithms on political consciousness, developing ethical audit methods, and considering cultural and social contexts.Keywords: network society, social networks, political consciousness, democratic processes, ethics.У статті розглядається теоретичний аналіз алгоритмічного управління політичною свідомістю в контексті мережевого суспільства та демократії. Автор досліджує, як алгоритми соціальних мереж впливають на формування інформаційного простору, створюючи «ехо-камери» та підсилюючи політичну поляризацію. Важливими аспектами аналізу є прозорість, підзвітність та справедливість алгоритмічних систем, які відіграють ключову роль у забезпеченні чесності та ефективності демократичних процесів. Особлива увага приділяється етичним викликам, таким як захист приватності користувачів та уникнення маніпуляцій громадською думкою. Автор також розглядає специфіку українського контексту, де інформаційна війна та дезінформаційні кампанії створюють додаткові виклики для демократичних інститутів. У статті пропонується п’ятикомпонентна модель етичного та нормативного управління алгоритмами, яка включає прозорість, підзвітність, рівність доступу, захист приватності та справедливе використання даних. Перспективи подальших досліджень включають аналіз впливу різних алгоритмів на політичну свідомість, розробку методів етичного аудиту та врахування культурних і соціальних контекстів.Ключові слова: мережеве суспільство, соціальні мережі, політична свідомість, демократичні процеси, етика
Роль етики в еволюції IT-освіти в Україні через призму постмодерністських концепцій Мішеля Фуко
Get PDFThis article examines the role of ethics in the development of IT education in Ukraine, analyzing its meaning through the prism of Michel Foucault’s postmodern concepts. It was determined that ethics not only forms moral standards, but is also a tool for regulating power and knowledge in the educational process. Through educational seminars, trainings and the implementation of policies of transparency and responsibility, teachers and university administrations contribute to the formation of new subjects capable of critically considering and using the acquired knowledge. Major ethical challenges, including inequality of access to education, problems with the material and technical base, and academic dishonesty, require a comprehensive approach to overcome them.Recommendations for further research include the development of specific measures for educational institutions aimed at integrating ethical principles into curricula, improving the qualifications of teachers, and ensuring equal access to educational resources. The importance of analysis and deconstruction of existing discourses and practices in the context of postmodern theory is emphasized, which will allow creating a fairer and more effective system of IT education. The article emphasizes the critical importance of ethics for the formation of highly qualified, responsible and ethically conscious specialists, which is key to increasing the competitiveness of Ukrainian IT education in the international arena.Key words: ethics, IT education, Ukraine, postmodernism, Foucault.У статті досліджено роль етики у розвитку IT-освіти в Україні, аналізуючи її значення через призму постмодерністських концепцій Мішеля Фуко. Визначено, що етика не лише формує моральні стандарти, але й є інструментом регулювання влади та знання в освітньому процесі. Викладачі та адміністрація університетів через навчальні семінари, тренінги та впровадження політик прозорості та відповідальності сприяють формуванню нових суб’єктів, здатних критично осмислювати та використовувати отримані знання. Основні етичні виклики, зокрема нерівність доступу до освіти, проблеми з матеріально-технічною базою та академічна нечесність, вимагають комплексного підходу для їх подолання.Рекомендації для подальших досліджень включають розробку конкретних заходів для навчальних закладів, спрямованих на інтеграцію етичних принципів у навчальні програми, підвищення кваліфікації викладачів та забезпечення рівного доступу до освітніх ресурсів. Підкреслюється важливість аналізу та деконструкції існуючих дискурсів та практик у контексті постмодерністської теорії, що дозволить створити більш справедливу та ефективну систему IT-освіти. Стаття підкреслює критичну важливість етики для формування висококваліфікованих, відповідальних та етично свідомих фахівців, що є ключовим для підвищення конкурентоспроможності української IT-освіти на міжнародній арені.Ключові слова: етика, IT-освіта, Україна, постмодернізм, Фуко
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
