The effects of heterogeneities on the economics of thin gas column reservoirs
After decades of successful exploration and exploitation of gas fields in the Netherlands, the Dutch E&P industry has accumulated a substantial portfolio of gas fields that are considered economically unviable, the so-called ‘stranded fields’. There are various reasons for a gas field to be classified as economically unviable, one of them being the small size of the field. With the current challenges the E&P sector is facing it is valuable to re-evaluate the criteria often used in determining a fields economic viability. One of those criteria is the column height encountered in the well, which when it becomes too small can be very sensitive to water inflow. Gaining further understanding of the relation between gas column height and gas production can be valuable in determining the potential of a gas field with a limited gas column. Consequently, the focus of this study is twofold: 1) finding the minimum gas column height required for producing a sufficient amount of gas (0.1 – 0.2 BCM) and 2) investigating the effect of specific important reservoir heterogeneities (i.e. high-permeability streaks and clay layers) on the production results (total gas production and production time). These two research topics were approached through two separate methods: 1) a sensitivity study carried out using two types of models, a simple box model and a complex reservoir model and 2) an analysis of gas wells, and the corresponding gas reservoirs, that encounter small gas columns. Both research methods are focused on Rotliegend gas reservoirs. The results from this study show that the minimum gas column range for yielding economic gas production was found to be 20 – 40 m, depending on the field’s characteristics and configurations. Furthermore, in the models used for this study the presence of a highpermeability streak may either cause an increase or decrease in the total gas production, however they are found to significantly reduce the production time which is beneficial towards the economic analysis of a potential project. Additionally, they are found to be highly beneficial in gas reservoirs with a low average permeability. The clay layer on the other hand, significantly increases the total gas production of the models, although this is accompanied by an increase in the total production time. A potential downside of the clay layer is the restricted flow of gas which is particularly problematic in horizontal reservoirs with a significant portion of the gas column situated below the clay layer. Lastly, a possibly positive correlation between transition zone and the total gas production from thin gas columns reservoirs was found in the well analysis, on which further investigation is recommended in order to be able to draw more meaningful conclusions.Applied Earth Science
Family as environment of education
The article discusses different approaches to the definition of «family» and its value as an educational environment; it is submitted the classification of families and family structure, which allows to determine its basic forms and types; it is analyzed the basic functions of the family. The author emphasizes that alongside social and economic changes taking place in society, the family gradually loses its functionality. The crisis of modern culture, conflicts and contradictions negatively affect the process of social adaptation and family break function
Performatividade e abjeção em Quarto de Despejo:: A linguagem como poder em Judith Butler
This paper analyzes the writing of Quarto de Despejo: Diário de uma favelada by Carolina Maria de Jesus through the lens of Judith Butler’s theory, focusing on performativity, abjection, and language as power. Through her diary, the author subverts the norms that exclude her, creating a space for resistance and subjectivation. The aim is to understand Carolina\u27s writing as a performative act that, at the same time, denounces marginalization and redefines the position of the black and poor woman in society. Butler\u27s theory provides the key to understanding how language can both limit and enable new forms of subjectivity, in the author\u27s case, as a form of political and existential resistance.
Restructuring the U.S. Tax Court: A Reply to Stephanie Hoffer and Christopher Walker\u27s The Death of Tax Court Exceptionalism
This article is an invited reply to an article in the Minnesota Law Review regarding whether the “reviewing court” provisions of the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) apply to the U.S. Tax Court, the principal court hearing disputes between taxpayers and the IRS. (The Tax Court has repeatedly said that the APA does not apply to it). It argues in part that the question of whether the Tax Court must apply the APA’s standard and scope of review when reviewing IRS action is not as clear as a matter of history and doctrine as Professors Hoffer and Walker argue. The author also argues that it is time to clarify the U.S. Tax Court’s place in the federal system and to clear up this and other fundamental questions
In this paper the searcher wanted to observe how the game Senha could contribute to the development of the Combinatorial Reasoning in students of the 8th grade of elementary school, using the theory of Registers of Semiotics Representations of Raymond Duval. It were analyzed the explanation of the students, through the mother language registers, and the matches, considered material registers, checking if they could make the conversions between the registers. The methodology used in this paper has a qualitative feature, since the registers of the students are analyzed, not mattering how many rounds they needed to complete the game, but how they made their play in accord with the feedback they received from the system. There were three workshops, all done remotely with the Google Meet platform, because of the emergencial remote teaching adopted by the schools in the pandemic of the COVID19. The production of the analyzed data was made through photos taken by the students, filling of the Word document provided by the researcher, chat in Whatsapp with the teacher of the class and a form created in Google Forms by the author, with 9 questions qualitative and quantitative. The analysis of these data was made under the light of the theoretical reference of Duval. The results of this research concludes that the game Senha contributes to the development of the Combinatorial Reasoning because it allowed the students to reflect and, with the help of the registers in their native language, to analyze their moves utilizing the Combinatorial Reasoning to finish the game
Southern Horizons in Italian History
Meridionalismo attitudes and policy vis-à-vis Southern Italy is a conceptual sphere approached from a wide range of viewpoints by people concerned with the fortunes of the Italian regions together with other, broader preoccupations. How are we to account for the success of this concept in politics and historiography? The Author views the long historical profile to highlight the essentially political nature of the southern question. In the most varied forms since the early twentieth century the southern horizon, seen as the eventual, evocative scenario for political action, has in an exemplary manner been able to represent, for Italy’s opposition parties fostered by men of the South, hopes betrayed by the Risorgimento, and for the southern elites with leading positions in the institutions of government, by contrast, a positive mission inherited with the creation of united Italy. If it is possible to speak of a Mezzogiorno without meridionalismo, it is impossible to ignore it in any account of Italy’s political and economic history.Regional Development Policy, History of Thought
