Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Get PDFDie vorliegende Diplomarbeit versucht anhand des von Clara Zetkin verfassten Werkes Im befreiten Kaukasus (1926) die Begriffe ‘Reiseliteratur’ und ‘Reisebericht’ zu erörtern und die Funktion der Reiseliteratur in der Literarisierung der gesellschaftlichen Realität zu beleuchten.
Die Begriffe werden in der germanistischen Literaturwissenschaft sehr unterschiedlich definiert und gebraucht, dennoch kann gerade die literaturwissenschaftliche Praxis zur Lösung dieser Problematik beitragen. In der Arbeit werden anhand des analysierten Textes auch Probleme der Fiktionalität und ‘Realität’ sowie identitätsstiftende und gesellschaftskritische Funktionen der Reiseliteratur beleuchtet.
Clara Zetkin war eine bedeutende Sozialistin, später Kommunistin, Frauenrechtlerin und Literatin. Ihr Leben, politisches Wirken und ihre enge Verbundenheit mit dem Sowjetvolk und vor allem mit den sowjetischen Frauen sind für den Stoff und Inhalt des Reiseberichts Im befreiten Kaukasus von grundlegender Bedeutung.
Der empirische Teil der Arbeit enthält die motivisch-thematische Analyse des Werkes. Bei der Analyse werden die Motive für die Reise, der Aufbau des Reiseberichts, Aspekte der Literarisierung der politischen, wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Entwicklungen in der Sowjetunion und die Rolle der Frauen bei der Entwicklung näher beleuchtet, sowie ihr Streben nach gesellschaftlicher Gleichberechtigung.Diplomsko delo poskuša na podlagi dela Clare Zetkin Im befreiten Kaukasus (1926) analizirati pojma ‘potopisna književnost’ in ‘potopisje’ ter osvetliti funkcijo potopisne književnosti v prikazu družbene realnosti.
Ta dva pojma sta v germanistični literarni vedi zelo različno opredeljena, vendar literarna praksa lahko prispeva k reševanju tega problema. V nalogi bo na podlagi analiziranega dela izpostavljen tudi problem fikcije in ‘realnosti’ v potopisju kakor tudi družbene funkcije potopisne literature.
Clara Zetkin je bila pomembna socialistka, kasneje komunistka, borka za pravice žensk, publicistka in književnica. Njeno življenje, njena politična dejavnost in tesna povezanost z Rusi ter predvsem z ženskami v Sovjetski zvezi so za snov in vsebino potopisa Im befreiten Kaukasus izrednega pomena.
Empirični del naloge zajema motivno-tematsko analizo samega dela. Pri analizi dela smo podrobneje obravnavali motive za potovanje, zgradbo potopisa in se nadalje posvetili zvrstno-poetološkim in vsebinskim vidikom dela ter inscenaciji vloge ženske pri političnem, gospodarskem in kulturnem razvoju Sovjetske zveze in njenim prizadevanjem za družbeno enakopravnost

Get PDFA szakdolgozat bevezetője Szabó Magda három – Ókút, Régimódi történet és Für Elise – önéletrajzi ihletésű művén, a feminista irodalomkritika-elméleten, a magyarországi feminista irodalomkritika értelmezésén keresztül, valamint a női írók kánonban betöltött helyéről nyújt általános képet.
Mivel mindhárom mű (ön)életrajzi alapokon nyúgszik, a dolgozat röviden ismerteti az önélerajzi műfajok főbb jellemzőit is, kitérve a fikció szerepére az önéletrajzi művekben.
A dolgozat alappillérét az említett három regény olvasásretorikai elemzése és szöveginterpretációja képezi, amelyben kitérek a művek keletkezésének történetére, a regények valós/fiktív helyszíneire, a műfaji meghatározás mikéntjére, a Für Elise címértelmezésére, a szerző és az elbeszélő azonosságának kérdéskörére, a regénybeli idősíkok vizsgálatára.
Emellett külön figyelmet szentelek az önéletrajz sajátosságainak megjelenésére.
A szakdolgozat női-férfi párhuzamainak középpontjában a regénybeli nőfigurák meghatározó szerepe áll, különös tekintettel az asszonyi sorsok kérdésének vizsgálatára, a nemi viszonyok kérdésének tisztázására, valamint az anya és az apa figurájának jelentőségére.
Annak ellenére, hogy a három elemzett irodalmi művet mint önálló alkotást is olvashatjuk – egymástól függetlenül –, számos közös vonás lelhető fel közöttük, vagyis kiegészítik egymást.Namen diplomskega dela je na podlagi treh kvazi-(avto)biografsko zasnovanih del avtorice Magde Szabó (Ókút, Régimódi történet, Für Elise) in na podlagi feministične literarne teorije ter pojmovanja feministične literarne teorije na Madžarskem podati splošen pregled le-teh in pregled statusa pisateljic v literarnem kanonu.
Glede na to, da so vsi trije romani zasnovani kot biografsko delo, diplomska naloga na kratko navaja in obravnava tudi glavne značilnosti življenjepisa in vlogo fikcije v avtobiografskih delih.
Osrednji del diplomskega dela predstavlja vsebinsko-tematski opis vseh treh romanov z namenom določitve realnega/fiktivnega prizorišča, določitve literarne zvrsti kot fiktivne avtobiografije, razlage pomena naslova Für Elise, vloge pripovedovalca in časovnega okvira romanesknega dogajanja.
Posebna pozornost je posvečena tudi pojavljanju biografskih značilnosti v delih.
V primerjalnem delu diplomskega dela je izpostavljena vloga ženskih likov v romanih, zlasti vprašanje njihove usode, vprašanje odnosov med spoloma in pomen lika matere ter očeta.
Kljub temu da lahko vse tri analizirane romane beremo tudi kot samostojna dela, torej neodvisno drug od drugega, med njimi obstaja veliko povezav oz. dopolnitev
