Development and fecundity of the larch longhorn beetle Tetropium gabrieli in Venosta valley
No full textreservedIl coleottero cerambicide Tetropium gabrieli si sviluppa sfruttando il larice europeo (Larix
decidua). É un parassita secondario originario del sistema alpino, ovvero uno xilofago che
attacca alberi già deperenti. Tuttavia la presenza di specie di larice non indigene in Europa
congiuntamente all’estensione delle piantagioni di larice al di fuori del loro habitat naturale ne
hanno favorito la diffusione. Inoltre è in grado di attaccare piante fortemente colpite da stress
idrico. I sintomi, poco evidenti nelle prime fasi, si rivelano quando l’attacco è già in uno stadio
avanzato osservando un cambiamento di colore della chioma e conseguente perdita di aghi. Lo
scopo di questo elaborato è l’analisi dell’andamento dello sviluppo di Tetropium gabrieli nel
corso della stagione e in particolare della fecondità. Lo studio è stato condotto su campioni
raccolti durante la stagione estiva 2023, utilizzando trappole collocate in un lariceto che copre
un’area di circa 200 ettari a Tanas, situato nella Val Venosta, provincia di Bolzano, in
cooperazione con il Servizio Forestale.The long-horned beetle Tetropium gabrieli develops by exploiting the European larch (Larix
decidua). It is a secondary parasite native to the Alpine system, specifically a xylophagous insect that attacks already ailing trees. However, the presence of non-indigenous larch species in Europe
together with the extension of larch plantations outside their natural habitat
favored its diffusion. Additionally, it can attack plants heavily affected by stress
water. Symptoms, not very evident in the early stages, reveal themselves when the attack is already at a stage advanced by observing a change in color of the foliage and consequent needle loss.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the development trend of Tetropium gabrieli over the
course of the season and in particular of fertility. The study was conducted on samples
collected during the 2023 summer season, using traps placed in a larch forest covering
an area of approximately 200 hectares in Tanas, located in Val Venosta, province of Bolzano, in
cooperation with the Forest Service
