Patch array antenna for UWB radar applications
This paper presents an antenna design for Ultra Wideband (UWB) Radar applications. It consists of a patch array antenna designed to operate from 5.35 to 5.85 GHz. Details of the proposed antenna design, realization and measured results are presented and discussed
Alloplastic Bridge Spermatocele
A new type of artificial spermatocele is proposed. A Gre-tex cylinder is sutured to the cauda of epididymis, making a bridge between the two testes
Realizability models for a linear dependent PCF
Recently, Dal Lago and Gaboardi have proposed a type system, named dℓ. PCF as a framework for implicit computational complexity. dℓ. PCF is a non-standard type system for PCF programs which is relatively complete with respect to quantitative properties thanks to the use of linear types inspired by Bounded linear logic and dependent types à la Dependent ML. In this work, we adapt the framework of quantitative realizability and obtain a model for dℓ. PCF. The quantitative realizability model aims at a better understanding of dℓ. PCF type decorations and at giving an abstract semantic proof of intensional soundness.</p
Microsurgical one-stage repair of hypospadias with a rectangular transverse dorsal preputial vascularized skin flap.
A microsurgical technique for one-stage repair of hypospadias using a rectangular transverse dorsal preputial island skin flap is presented. The use of optical magnification, atraumatic technique, and microsurgical instruments allows a vascularized preputial skin flap to be raised and isolated on the dorsum of the penis and then rotated ventrally and tubulized into a neourethral channel. The meatus of the new urethral channel lies at the tip of the glans. Cover for the penis is simply obtained and does not require a longitudinal row of sutures. The need to remove the distal stenotic portion of the urethra and to correct any degree of chordee is outlined and emphasized. Good cosmetic and functional results demonstrate the efficacy of such a technique
Tubulovasostomy in the rat. A new experimental model.
Tubular patency is the primary concern in the evaluation of procedures for epididymovasostomy. The epididymal lumen easily becomes occluded or obstructed, with the resulting recurrence of azoospermia. Recently, two-layer direct anastomosis has been advocated. The aim of the present study was to present an experimental model of tubulovasostomy in the rat. Microsurgery was performed in 18 rats (16-40 X magnification). Suture material used was 11/0 Vycryl or nylon for the internal layer of the anastomosis and 10/0 Ethilon for the external layer. After 6 and 12 weeks, semen samples were obtained by electroejaculation and evaluated for sperm count and motility
SODIUM DODECYL-SULFATE ELECTROPHORESIS OF URINARY PROTEINS
The analysis of urinary proteins and their identification are discussed, particularly in regard to the technique of sodium dodecyl sulphate electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gradient gels. Urine collection, storage and preparation are evaluated, especially in regard to problems connected with concentration and dialysis of such samples. The instrumental approach to sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis represented by the Phast System appears to be particularly valuable in routine clinical analysis of urine specimens, since no sample pretreatment is required. The following types of proteinurias are evaluated: (a) orthostatic proteinurias; (b) post-renal proteinurias; (c) Bence-Jones proteinuria; (d) lower and upper urinary tract infection (cystitis and pyelonephritis) and (e) diabetes mellitus proteinurias
A new type of alloplastic spermatocele: the bridge spermatocele.
A new type of artificial spermatocele is proposed. A Gore-tex cylinder is sutured to the tails of the epididymides making a bridge between the two testes. The advantages of this spermatocele are (1) use of a single puncture; (2) easy execution of the puncture because the bridge stabilizes and holds the testicles in place; (3) a greater quantity of aspirate and, therefore, easier conservation of sperm; (4) a better quality of aspirate; and (5) relative ease of the surgical procedure
