No full textThis volume documents the Proceedings of the 1st Workshop on Resources and Techniques for User and Author Profiling in Abusive Language (ResT-UP), held online on 12 May 2020 as part of the LREC 2020 conference (International Conference on Language Resources and Evaluation).
The workshop aimed at bringing together researchers and scholars working on author profiling and automatic detection of abusive language on the Web, e.g., cyberbullying or hate speech, with a twofold objective: improving the existing LRs, e.g., datasets, corpora, lexicons, and sharing ideas on stylometry techniques and features needed for profile information extraction and classification. ResT-UP targeted Profiling scholars and research groups, experts in Statistic and Stylistic Analysis of texts as well as computational linguists who investigate author profile and personality both in short texts (social media posts, blog texts and email) and in long texts (such as pamphlets, (fake) news and political documents). ReST-UP represented an opportunity to share profiling experiments with the scientific community and to show automatic detection techniques of abusive language on the Web. Despite the cancellation of LREC 2020 due to the COVID-19 international emergency, ResT-UP was organized online on Microsoft Teams on May 12th 2020 and the programme included three oral presentations and featured an invited talk by Paolo Rosso. ResT-UP was attended by about fifty representatives of academic and industrial organisations

No full textLa mia tesi analizza a fondo la presenza, all’interno del romanzo enciclopedico Infinite Jest di David Foster Wallace, di elementi di teoria del cinema di matrice lacaniana. In essa dimostro, sulla base della mia ricerca d’archivio, la presenza di un incanalamento consapevole da parte di Wallace nel suo romanzo di teorie del cinema attenenti alla corrente psicanalitica degli anni ’70 (Laura Mulvey, Metz, Baudry, etc.), la quale corrente, fondendo Lacan e Althusser, portava avanti una visione pessimistica del cinema come apparato ideologico generatore di soggettivazione. Inoltre analizzo il romanzo utilizzando strumenti affini alla nuova corrente di teorici lacaniani degli anni ’90, ai quali la sensibilità di Wallace è più vicina, giacché, diversamente dai primi, essi rileggono l’approccio psicanalitico alla teoria del cinema alla luce del ‘reale’. Il fulcro della mia tesi, che è tripartita secondo la triade lacaniana (immaginario-simbolico-reale), è una lettura secondo cui Infinite Jest ritrae un apparato ideologico di potere che ingloba al suo interno armi che appartengono sia all’immaginario (attraverso la pervasività della cultura dello spettacolo) che al simbolico (attraverso l’ alienazione nell’autocoscienza), e al contempo tende a una via d’uscita verso il reale attraverso una tematizzazione (e un impiego letterario) dello “sguardo” inteso in senso lacaniano, ovvero come ciò che resiste alla possibilità dell’ideologia di rappresentare e significare tutto

No full textAnalysis of the drama Alcesti di Samuele by Alberto Savinio, staged in 1950 at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, under the direction of Giorgio Strehel. It is the declination of the myth of Alcestis according to the exi¬stential pessimism of the author, who made the reflection on death one of the landmarks of his theater. The genesis of the drama, according the author himself, is to be found in a true story, happened in Vienna at the time of the Nuremberg racial laws: to an important music publisher was imposed the choice between work and divorce from his Judish wife, and the latter, in order to prevent him from taking such a painful decision, killed herself. The play is set in Monaco, where Savinio lived, and Teresa-Alcestis dies by drowning in the river Isar. In the first part of the drama Savinio is concerned to emphasize the correspondences between myth and history (Teresa/Alcesti, Admeto/Paul, Eracle/ the US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, etc.), but, with the progress of the dramatic action, the distances from Euripides increase more and more, until the final reversal: Teresa returns to life just to bring Paul with her in death. The essay analyzes and comments the numerous echoes and allusions to Euripides (and their variations) that Savinio introduces in his rewriting
