Intake of essential and non-essential elements from consumption of octopus, cuttlefish and squid
Total concentrations of essential (Cu, Zn, Se and Cr) and non-essential (Hg, Cd, Pb and As) trace elements weremeasured in the flesh and hepatopancreas of Octopodidae (Eledone moschata, Eledolle cirrhosa, Octopus salutii),Sepiidae (Sepia elegans, Sepia orbignyana) and Loliginidae (llex coindeti, Loligo vulgaris) from theMediterranean Sea. As expected, the hcpatopancreas showed higher metal concentrations than flesh; the onlyexceptions were Hg and As, which were equally distributed in the two tissues. Regarding the edible portion, thehighest toxic metal concentrations were in Octopodidae (Hg: 0.44, Cd: 0.49, Pb: 0.10 μgg-I wet weight) andSepiidae (Hg: 0.27, Cd: 0.50, Pb: 0.12 μgg-1 wet weight), while Loliginidae tended to accumulate less metal,especially Hg (Hg: 0.11. Cd: 0.30, Pb: 0.05μgg-1 wet weight). The other elements showed a heterogeneousdistribution among the different cephalopod families. Loliginidae showed the highest Se concentrations(1.18 μgg-1 wet weight), Octopodidae or Cu (37.37μgg-1 wet weight) and Zn (42.00μgg-1 wet weight) andSepiidae of As (61.43 μgg-I wet weight), while Cr was uniformly distributed among the various families(0.38- 0.43 μgg-l wet weight). In these seafoods, the concentrations of essential and non-essential elements werewithin the prescribed limits set by various authorities, except for Cu and As. Health risks posed by toxic elementsto humans via dietary intake of these mollusks were assessed on the basis on Provisional Tolerable Weekly Intake(PTWI), while the estimated intakes of essential elements were compared to Dietary Reference lntakes (RDls).A 70-g serving of these mollusks was shown to provide a large contribution to Cd intake (0.89 μg kg-I bodyweight), corresponding to 35.6% of PTWI. Occurence of heavy metals (Hg, Cd, and Pb) and polychlorinated biphenyls in salted anchovies
Levels of contaminants in fish are of particular interest because of the potential risks for consumers. Among the metals analyzed, mercury (average: 0.21 g g-1 weight wet) and cadmium (average: 0.19 g g-1 weight wet) were the most abundant, while Pb (average: 0.09 g g-1 weight wet) was present in relatively low levels. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Residui di metalli pesanti (Zn, Cu, Hg, Cd) nel tessuto muscolare di differenti specie di molluschi cefalopodi: valutazione del rischio tossicologico per il consumatore.
Muscle tissue of bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) was analysed for PCBs to ascertain whether the
concentrations exceeded the levels fixed by the European Commission and whether this fish was suitable for human
consumption. PCB concentrations were comprised between 96 and 6571 ng/g l. w. (mean: 764 ng/g l.w.). Isomer-specific
analysis revealed a profile dominated by hexa- (65.4%) and pentachlorobiphenyls (18.0%), followed by hepta- (15.4%)
and tetrachlorobiphenyls (1.2%). The dietary intake was below the limit of 14 pg TEQs/kg body weight/week set by
European Commission. The results obtained are not to underestimate, considering that the daily intake do not include
other food which might also pass these contaminants to man

Mercury, lead and cadmium were determined in muscle tissue of bluefin tuna
(Thunnus thynnus) from the Thyrrenian Sea in order to evaluate the risk for consumer resulting
from the consumption of this species. The metal contents, (μg g-1 w.w.), varied from 0.07 to
1.76 (average: 0.61) for mercury, from 0.01 to 0.28 (average: 0.07) for lead and from 0.001 to
0.034 (average: 0.005) for cadmium. The results obtained for lead and cadmium were lower
than those recommended by specific legislation, while mercury concentrations exceeded the
established limits in 20% of the sample examined. The estimated weekly intake for lead and
cadmium do not pose a risk for consumers because was below the limits imposed by WHO. On
the contrary the dietary exposure for mercury may be of concern for human health
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
